He smiled, at least she trusted him. He felt more confident with speaking to her now. "Some aliens look like each other, some don't. It's the way the Universe works, although the thing that most humans don't realise is that although you may think I look like you, I may think you look like me." He answered explaining in detail.
"The time machine travels in space too. It's called the TARDIS and rather than being built they were grown on my planet. The reason I'm here is I travelled here, human's are amazing and I don't think you all realise how amazing you are. Sure you can be stupid but you are magnificent." He said grinning. "Thanks for understanding, I know it seems impossible but it's true."
"It's not just the friends I've lost." His expression suddenly changed and he looked down. "My whole planets gone and I'm the last one. I suppose the reason I have friends travelling with me is because I need people to help me along so I'm not lonely." He looked like he was going to cry again but he didn't. He swallowed and then got back to talking.
"There are situations with the people I travel with and they get complicated. Sometimes we end up falling in love or they fall in love with me and that's what makes it hard to travel with them and then I lose them. If I tell them or they tell me it could change everything. I don't like to deal with that." He admitted, he sighed. 'How weird do I sound right now?' He thought to himself. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 16th 2010, 1:33pm #48

Melissa laughed a little at his response, but not in a mean way.
"I suppose that's true -- if there are aliens that look like humans, then they would think that we looked like them.....I suppose that's the way with you, isn't it?"
"So where is your TARDIS? I've never seen a spaceship or a time machine before -- so to have it combined...." she paused, "what does it look like? The way that you said that they're grown, it sounds like they are a living thing."
Thinking for a minute, she then continued.
"I don't think that we're that different -- humans and whatever you are. I'm sorry...I'm not trying to sound derogatory, but you didn't tell me what the name of your species is yet. How different can we be? It seems like you just live on another planet. Are we, other than that, pretty much biologically the same?"
Melissa returned his grin, and then her expression changed to match his.
"I'm so sorry that your whole planet is gone. You mean you are the last of your kind? That must be very hard. I don't know what I would do if I was the last human left, and Earth was gone."
Well, if you need a friend, you have one in me."
Melissa glanced in his direction before she commented on the last part he had said.
"I can understand about things being complicated with your friends. It actually doesn't sound too different from just everyday life. I mean, you meet someone of the opposite sex and you get feelings for them, but they don't always return your feelings. That's happened to me a lot. I've had friends that were guys...and our friendship has developed, and then I end up liking them. However, none of them have returned my feelings. Once I tell them how I feel, things usually get strange between us. It's never been the reverse for me -- a guy having feelings for me. Even though it hurts when you love someone, and then it doesn't work out....it's worth it. To love means that you have to make yourself vulnerable, and sometimes that means that you will get hurt. None of us can escape from life without getting hurt. We just have to get through it....and allow it to make us stronger." Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . He smiled, "Some of the things you say are inspirational, so meaningful." He said looking right at her.
"My species are called Time Lords. We were incredibly smart and we had a lot of power...sometimes I think we had too much." He said reminiscing.
"The TARDIS is sort of stuck on the campus. I need to get back in there to get it but I don't think those guards are very friendly." He said scratching his head. He was trying to think of plan right then and there.
"Oh and the TARDIS is living but if you want to find out what it looks like I'm going to have to find out how to get in."
He looked thoughtful. Then he looked a Melissa who was trying to think of something. "Oh silly me, I shouldn't make you worry about this." He smiled.
He stood up, "I suppose we should go back before they wonder where we are." The Doctor suggested. He started to walk out but Melissa stopped him. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 16th 2010, 2:29pm #50

"Wait, Doctor....let's try to think up something. You're not worrying me or bothering me in any way. I think it would help you feel better if we came up with a solution."
Melissa returned his gaze.
"Thank you for telling me the truth about you. So your species is called a Time Lord? I agree that having too much power is not always a good thing. How different are Time Lords from humans?"
"I'd really like to see your TARDIS, and we can find a way back into the school. I'm a student there, so maybe they won't question it if you come with me. If you are really worried, though, you we can try to disguise you somehow." Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 16th 2010, 3:24pm #51

"Time Lords are...were to watch over time. They couldn't change an part of history, they couldn't interfere but make sure it happened. There was a huge war called The Time War, at the end of it all they became something different than their righteous selves. I stole the TARDIS and went out traveling the universe because I couldn't take anymore, it sounds cowardly but nobody saw what they became." He answered through gritted teeth.
"I'd be very greatful if you helped." He beamed his expression changing from anger to happiness. "I don't know whether they'll be happy to see me even if I went back with you though. Besides it would be fun to disguise me." He said grinning from ear to ear. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 1:22am #52

Looking over again at him, Melissa responded.
"That still doesn't tell me whether there are differences between Time Lords and humans. Again, I'm sorry to hear about the war, and that things did not work out for your people."
"I have no idea what the other of your kind did, but I don't think it sounds cowardly to travel around in the universe. There's times in which everyone has trouble taking things that frustrate us. Take my school for instance. I'm getting really fed up with all the liberal theology going on. I thought that at a seminary I'd learn things that were consistent with the Christian faith. Instead, they've invented their own theology, making it very liberal, and I'm not talking politics when I say liberal -- rather, I mean going against the very creeds and teachings that I thought defined what Christianity was. They've embraced a lot of Eastern spirituality, New Age concepts, and gnosticism. They grade down anyone who has a more conservative viewpoint -- anyone who holds to traditional Christian belief. I've wished that I could just run away from it all on more than one occasion."
Melissa smiled at his agreement. "All right....I'm not sure how to go about disguising you. All my roommates and I have is women's clothing. There is a Goodwill store not far from here. We could get men's clothing for cheap there, and it'd be a place to find some interesting things. If we don't find anything there, we could try the Salvation Army store. "
Melissa returned his grin, thinking that this adventure might be fun.
(just a comment I'd like to make here -- I watched End of Time, and it seems to me that what the Time Lords had gotten into was gnosticism. I don't know whether or not you know what that is. I can explain it if you want. Just to put in a little irony into this, I had Melissa mention what's going on in her campus, completely unaware that some of the same ideas were what the Time Lords had gotten into. What Melissa described is actually pretty accurate as to what's going on in some seminary's in the present day. Obviously it can't get to the extent that the Time Lords had it go, because they're more powerful and can actually cause something and to the whole universe. Humans are just playing around with some of the ideas)
(Real quick : gnosticism is the idea that matter is evil and spirit is good. Since a person's body is made up of matter, it's thought to be evil. Salvation in gnosticism is to get free from the body through acquiring special knowledge. There's more to it than that, but I think that this was pretty clearly what the Time Lords were into by the way they talked.)
(If you'd prefer that Melissa not mention stuff on her campus, that's fine. Let me know, and I'll edit my post. It might kind of annoy the Doctor if he found out that humans were getting into the stuff that were the cause of what happened at the end of the war...and why he had to end it all.) Reply Edit . (You don't need to edit your post. Oh and thanks for the explanation. Thinking back to when I saw the End of Time it's very similar to what you described.)
"To be honest from all you have described that is happening here on Earth humans and Time Lords aren't all that different. The reason I had to end the Time War was similar to what is evolving here. Obviously on Earth it's not to the extent of the Time Lords but some of the same ideas are definitely there." He said seriously.
He then beamed, "SHOPPING! I haven't been Earth shopping in aaaaages!" He said excitedly, emphasising ages. "Although I think tomorrow might be a better time to go, the time right now isn't exactly shopping time." He pointed out.
"We better get back to the rest of the girls, they might wonder where we are." He announced. He then stood up and made his way to the door with Melissa following behind him. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 7:11am #54

(You're welcome.)
Melissa looked at the Doctor in shock as they began leaving the room.
She whispered to him, "Oh...I'm so sorry. It's just happening in some academic circles -- probably a few people in every field. It's not that all humans are going for that sort of thing. There's a lot of us who are opposed to that kind of thinking. It's just become more and more prevalent recently. It's probably just a fad. From the way you made it sound on your planet, though, it sounds like the majority of your people got into some of this stuff deeply. Form what I've read about these movements, some of the ideas can be quite dangerous."
"I agree -- we better do our shopping tomorrow," she replied, returning his smile.
Leslie and Katie glanced in the direction of Melissa and the Doctor as they returned from Melissa's room. They gave each other a look, wondering what the two had discussed. They had left a couple of empty seats on one of the couches so that Melissa and the Doctor could sit by each other.
"What's on?" Melissa asked, as she glanced at the TV. She hadn't seen enough of it to see what it was. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 10:57am #55

"Oh no, I understand that a lot of you are against it. It's just the fact of the other people." He replyed.
He sat next to Melissa on the couch, when they got into the living room. He had no idea what on Earth was on the TV so he picked up the book from before and started reading, as soon as he did he glanced at Melissa and smiled. Then he got straight back to the book.
Sophie wondered what they had been talking about it her bedroom. Then when she thought about she didn't really want to know, then again it's not as if it was something intermate. They came out smiling but more in a friendly manner.
Jessica didn't care too much about what The Doctor and Melissa had been doing, her eyes were fixed on the TV screen. She'd been watching this show for a while and it had started to get really, really good. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 11:36am #56

Since Melissa didn't watch much TV, it didn't surprise her too much that she didn't recognize what was on. The other girls seemed to be too absorbed in the show to answer her question. She shrugged, then looked at the Doctor. He'd smiled at her, so she returned the smile.
She was glad to see that the book interested him so much.
Depending on what she was reading at the time, she could sometimes read while the TV was on. However, when she needed to concentrate, such as when she had to read a textbook, she found the TV to be distracting. She didn't really have any studying to do that evening, so she started watching whatever show was on. Surprising, it seemed to be one of the better ones. This didn't stop her, though, from glancing at the Doctor every once in a while.
Even though the Doctor was an alien, it didn't change the fact that she found him to be extremely attractive. She couldn't help but smile at him whenever he looked her way. She sighed.
"He's so cute...." she thought to herself.
Katie knew Melissa well enough to know when her friend was starting to develop feelings for a guy. She was certain that Melissa liked him. She wasn't sure whether the Doctor returned the feelings, though. Every so often, she would glance in their direction, trying to figure it out.
Leslie wasn't sure what was going on between Melissa and the Doctor, but she hoped that something would happen soon. "Melissa could use a man in her life." Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 11:52am #57

He looked up from the book for a second, it seemed to be some sort of action show. It didn't look bad but he wasn't that interested. He turned back to the book, when he looked at Melissa to ask her something she was already looking at him. He grinned and looked at her trying to determine what she was thinking.
'She's intelligent, beautiful and friendly.' He thought to himself. He saw something in her eyes that told him she liked him more than he thought. He let his stare soften and his grin settle into a smile. He didn't want to pursue it too much with all the other girls there so he winked at her and returned back to the book.
Sophie seemed to catch the wink and suddenly got thoroughly interested. 'Hm I wonder if he's interested in her as much as she is in him.' Sophie thought silently. She found that Melissa was easy to read, she found him attractive. This time Sophie didn't know if she was interested though.
Jessica was still absorbed in the show, but from the corner of her eye she caught the wink. She smirked, 'Well I think both of them are for it then.' She thought to herself. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 12:26pm #58

It was starting to get late, and Melissa was getting tired. She had stayed out in the living room longer than usual. It wasn't because there was anything good on, but rather because the Doctor was there. She wanted to spend as much time with him as possible, since she didn't know when he would be leaving.
They had looked at each other several times during the various shows that were on. He had actually winked at her. She had no idea what that was supposed to mean, but she was determined not to read into it too much.
"This has happened too many times before with guys. The Doctor is just being friendly, that's all. He's a nice guy -- a true gentleman. He probably doesn't think of me in that way. Besides that, he's an alien. He said he fell in love with his friends, but were they human?"
Her whole face lit up every time that they ended up looking at each other. This was just something that she tended to do when she was in the same room with a guy that she really liked.
After the wink, she had simply grinned in return.
When Melissa got too tired to stay up much longer she informed everyone, "I'm going to bed now. I'll see you all in the morning."
She left the room and got ready for bed. She closed the door to her bedroom and fell asleep.
Not long after Melissa went to bed, Katie announced that she should be getting back to her place.
Leslie took this opportunity to move next to the Doctor and ask him a question.
"So what do you think of Melissa?" she whispered so no one else would hear. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 12:41pm . Edited Jan 17th 2010, 12:43pm #59

He thought for a second. "Uh she's friendly and very helpful." He answered smiling and put the book down. He knew what she meant but he was determined to not let anything away.
He turned around as Sophie tapped him on the shoulder. "Yeah but I think what Leslie meant is do you think she's attractive or do you think you would like to start a relationship with her?" Sophie asked smirking. He shifted uncomfortably. He was trying to think of an answer that would answer the question but not give anything away.
"Well uh I um think she looks er attractive but I'm not really looking for anybody right now." He stuttered, all the girls were around him now which was uncomfortable for him. They looked like they were expecting more from him. "Oh look at the time! I'm feeling quite tired, I think I'll get to sleep." He blurted out in a hurry.
The girls walked away, presumably to their own bedrooms. He curled up on the couch and tried his best to get to sleep. It had been so long since he did though and it felt different on living room furniture. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 1:48pm . Edited Jan 18th 2010, 8:22am #60

Each of the girls had pleasant dreams.
Melissa had more than one dream that night, just as usual. Like most people, she didn't always remember her dreams.
Like most people, Melissa did not always remember the dreams that she had. When she did dream, they were always stories. Sometimes these dreams consisted of things that were currently going on in her life, sometimes that had to do with stuff that she'd been thinking a lot about, and sometimes they seemed to be very random (but still stories). All her dreams were vivid, and in color. Sometimes she would dream about something, and then a long time later, she'd dream of a sequel. When this occurred, while she was dreaming, she would sometimes remember details from a previous dream.
The dream she had the night before fit into the category of being seemingly random, though this wasn't the first time she had had a dream in this "series." In this particular dream, she was with these two adults that she knew were supposed to be her parents, though they didn't look like her parents in real life. It was like she was really little, and her parents put her on this spaceship type thing. They were worried about something, and were sending her away...as if they were desperate to get somewhere. That's all she could remember after waking up.
She then had the same sort of dream, only it was slightly different this time. Again she dreamed she was with people who were supposed to be her parents (the same ones as in the previous dream), only they didn't look like her parents. They were on some sort of space ship or something....but yet, she had had these sort of dreams before....At any rate, she and her "parents" were rushing to escape from something. She didn't know what it was...but it was some sort of danger.
Both of the people who were supposed to be her parents in her dream said somethings to her -- something about her safety. She didn't know what it was about.....
And then the dream shifted to people that she knew in real life -- the people at school. She dreamed that there was some sort of alien invasion.
Then, once again, her dream shifted to vacationing with her family in Florida. She savored this part...it was a very good dream.
Her dreams continued in this fashion for the rest of the night.
The fact that she had just been talking to a very cute alien named the Doctor is what she figured was why she was having science fiction type dreams about spaceships and whatever. She did have to admit that she liked reading and watching science fiction.
She also dreamed about her roommates and hanging out with them along with her other friends. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User . Delete Post .«Jan 17th 2010, 2:30pm . Edited Jan 17th 2010, 2:39pm #62

(okay...I realized I left you at a difficult spot. You could have the Doctor reflect on the day and whatever....or you could have him dream of home or whatever.....or you could have him get up and look around the room....)
In the morning, Melissa woke up, got dressed, and got ready for the day. She was excited at the idea of taking the Doctor shopping. She managed to get up before any of her other roommates. She had no idea whether or not the Doctor was up yet, so she tried to be quiet as she made her way over to the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. Reply Edit . Report Abuse . Ban User .
