The Doctor frowned thoughtfully. "Gelrasilon...Gelrasilon...Gelrasilon Gelrasilon Gelrasilon." Muttering that over and over like a mantra he went back to his console and activated another control. Immediately a small screen lit up with strange symbols on each side of the picture. The picture showed a picture of a planet slowly spinning in a mist of stars. "Ah yes, Gelrasilon! Hmmm, I've always intended to visit but I haven't had the chance. Interesting culture." He turned back with a winning smile. "So what brings you to Earth?"

Tyler stared at the Doctor in complete surprise. "Wait....what....people actually live on other planets....in the future?"
He glanced at the screen that the Doctor had pulled up. Frowning at it, he added, "What are all the circles for? Some sort of circlely design...." He had seen scribbles that reminded him of this before, but he assumed it had just been someone's idea of an artistic design.

"Of course!" the Doctor answered brightly. "I don't know why humans seem to have this problem with this concept. Surely you can't believe you aret he only ones inhabiting the cosmos?" He smiled over at Tyler. "That's sort of like the grasshopper who claims he knows the whole Central Park as he clings to a single blade of grass."
"As for the future part, again that depends on where you are standing. And going. There was once a whole race of beings I met once who evolved backwards. They had this great civilization but as time went on they digressed slowly back into what was their wild west, then their medival Period. They should be at the beginning of their Stone Age by now. fascinating, don't you agree?"

Tyler stared again at the Doctor, unsure of how he should read the man. "Well....it's just that....I thought that Earth was the only planet that could support human life.....I........I don't know."
He had no concept for alien life -- since the other two appeared to be human, he assumed that both the Doctor and the others were human.
"Well, since we can't travel to other planets yet, I'd say you're from the future....from my point of view. So......you've been to other planets, then?" Tyler asked the Doctor.

Breck had flattened herself against the wall close to what appeared to be a door. She couldn't seem to get the nerve to venture any further.
This Doctor was....an alien! And she, Breck Haines, was trapped inside a space ship! Her heart pounded and she swallowed hard. What was he planning on doing to them? Experiments? Discection? Being sold as a slave on some far away planet? She felt faint, almost welcomed it but she shook it off. Stay strong, Breck, she told herself. This isn't real, it's just a hallucination. Something hit you on the head, a tree branch, most likely, and you're just imagining all of this!
But no matter what scenario she tried to come up with she couldn't fool herself. She couldn't explain it away. The sight of the huge center console with the ring of light moving slowly and steadily up and down kept doing just that before her eyes. She began to feel a bit sick.
Oh no! What would this alien do if she happened to throw up on the floor of his spacecraft!!?? She looked around for anything resembling a bucket but found nothing. She swallowed again.
Keep it together, Breck, she repeated to herself over and over again. Keep it together!!

Rahul wasn’t so sure he was getting into this talk about future and aliens, he was wandering what the Doctor wa going on about and he was sure his wheels were turning thinking of it. “Just living here for a while” he said sure that Maya was still looking at him waiting for him to do something not sure what but the way she was looking he’d sure he’d more than happy jump off a cliff than this. “I love the sound of it” Rahul blinked “Uhhh yea, can’t say fights ever grow old but besides that I love my home, don’t visit the middle there’s a hole i’ve never figured how it got there” he shrugged. Increasingly he wandered why Maya was being quiet and looked at her “Maya, Maya” she suddenly came out of what she was doing in her mind and walked over to him “Your still in trouble” he sighed “I know I wander how they put up with me especially rhea”
He stared at the Doctor deciding not to mention what he was thinking “Future, past same difference with us” he blinked again “Maybe for you but the last time I visited them they were on me like a pack of wolves” he said putting an arm round Maya.

"Well, in this paticular corner of your galaxy yes, Earth so far is the only planet with life but when you delve just a little farther off the neighborhood starts getting a bit more crowded. You're in the 'rural area', so to speak." The Doctor tweaked a few more ocntrols and the scene above them changed. He pointed to a far corner. "See that? That's the other end and there's at least 12 planets I know of that not only has intelligent life but have just gotten into the space travel bit. The Reegers there seem to be collecting claims on moons. I suppose it's just a hobby to them. Just a few planets down from them we have the Turanigeirs. They're currently working on repaving their entire planet with space rocks and debris. Quite good on recycling. Ah, Breck? Are you all right? You look rather ill."

Tyler glanced at Breck, wondering what was wrong. He looked at the others in the console room, and then back at the Doctor.
"Well, all right, then.....so there were humans who originated on other planets?" Tyler asked all the aliens present, trying to understand what they were all talking about. He still had no concept that the man before him was an alien. Well, technically, he DID know...anyone from another planet would be an alien, even if they were human.
Although the idea of life on other planets and the fact that they were in a strange looking space craft was hard to wrap his mind around, he reasoned that such things were at least possible.

Breck whirled around at the sound of her name, looking like a deer caught in headlights. "A..aliens?" she said weakly. "You're aliens! I mean..you're an alien! War of the worlds and stuff! Did..did you come here to invade us?"
Reasonable question, she thought.

The Doctor made a slight face. "Now why would I want to do that? And how can one person be an invasion? No, I'm just a visitor, many times over in fact. And I'm not the only one. Over the years Earth seems to have become quite popular in the vacation trade." He smiled over at Tyler. "One race in particular. It's quite the fashion for them to come down here, spend a few weeks in the deep forests, take a photos, get a few rocks for souvenirs and so on. I have to say though, they really don't like being referred to as 'Bigfoots'. It's rather demeaning to them."
He rechecked the monitor again, the lighted column steadily moving in its up and down motion. "There's plenty of humanoid races about the cosmos. Some friendly, others one would be wise to steer clear of whenever possible. And still others that seem to exist just to confuse travelers like me. Take the Grathers, for example. Even though they've evolved on a very Earth-like planet somewhere along the way they've become convinced that the only way to live is upsidedown! Not like bats who at least regain a normal horizonal position when flying but at all times. They've built these special paths with grippers on the underside of tree branches and cliffs so they can avoid standing upright whenever possible. Attending tea there is quite a feat to master!"

Tyler looked back over at the Doctor and blinked. "What do you mean by saying plenty of huanoid races about the cosmos? I thought there were just humans.....aren't you still considered human?"
He looked at those from other planets who happened to be in the room.

Rahul was paying more attention else where then the group or in deep thought whatever you decided to call it, staring at Maya was at the moment more interesting it seemed then the chatter the Doctor, Tyler and Breck were on about. Though it couldn’t be said for Maya she was just so infused in what the others were saying to even comprehend that she was a center of Rahul’s attention at this precise moment, sure he was listening but it seemed more appealing with Maya or the idea that this top was weird and confusing for him ‘How do you girls do that’ he thought to himself. His leg wasn’t at all hurting him from this position and he wasn’t at paying much to that.
Blinking when he heard something or the TARDIS column or the hmmm that he gave a rather fivid expression too, though with Rahul it could be anything he was never quite sure nor was Maya who turned round and looked at the look on his face “Rahul what?” she asked him as Rahul smiled and shrugged giving her his smile he gave her when he was in a sort of wandering mode.

(Sorry, forgot this thread!)
The Doctor had been asked this question many times in his lives and had yet to find an answer that explained everything in a reassuring manner. Humans could be like a herd of skittish horses, one wrong sound would send them into a panic. He pursed his lips in thought then said "Well, a lot of people consider me human and you have to admit I do look the part but no, I'm not. I'm a Time Lord actually, from another planet, another place. There's plenty of palces out there for all sorts of intelligent races, in fact I occasionally equate the cosmos as one large town. There are neighborhoods where you'll find nice friendly folk and then there's the places you don't want to venture in after dark, no matter how many street lights there are." he glanced over at the humans. "Is that an easier explanation to swallow?"

Tyler stared back at the Doctor. "Really, you're not human......what's the difference between a Time Lord and a human? So....so are you saying that Earth is the only planet with humans on it? All the other races that you talked about are different species?"
"I just assumed that you were human, just from another planet...I didn't know there were other human like species."
Tyler glanced at the others from the room. "So are Breck and I the only humans here, in this ship?"

After a few deep breaths Breck felt the nausea and panic draining away from her. At least he didn't -look- like a space monster from the various 'B' movies.
"So..." she tried saying in a conversational tone. "You just flit around space, landing wherever you please?"As she spoke she edged towards Tyler to stand next to him. For some reason being with another human steadied her nerves. There must be some truth in the 'strength in numbers' bit!
