The guard just stood there, watching him.

(I thought so...I'm actually waiting on you, Scarlett)
The Doctor looked at the guard, "Oh, so you're not going to answer me. All right then...." He picked up the book and started reading again. He was also half watching the guard, wondering what it was that the guard wanted. "Ever read Harry Potter?"

The guard said nothing, just standing at his post. He was just there to be a piece, a pawn. The guard at the screen watched him, trying to figure out what his game was.
"I'm going in," he finally said, standing up to go start the questioning.

Donna glanced back at the doctor before a wall separated them, and she was led down the hall. When they came to a stop, a door swung open and the woman was pushed in roughly.
Stumbling up, she spun around, but the door clanged shut loudly and her scowl only met metal. The handcuffs they'd left her in snapped open and fell to the ground. Turning her wrists, she glanced around the room and took inventory of her surroundings. A chair and a desk. Concrete walls up to the ceiling. No windows....No escape.
Surely they expected her to sit down and wait, cower, be intimidated. They'd never met Donna Noble. Scared though she may be, she was never going to sit and wait for punishment. She walked over to the desk, turned, crossed her arms, and stood, looking at the door.

The Doctor sighed. So he was being ignored, which he didn't really like. "All right, then...." He glanced at the door to see if he thought his sonic would work on it.
"I've had enough....what is it that you want?" he asked the guard angrily. "And where is my friend?" He knew perfectly well that Donna was in the cell next to him, but he didn't want anything happening to her.

Finally, the door opened and another guard came into the Doctor's room.
"Right, sorry for the wait, we have many people to question. Times of war and all," the new guard said, nodding to the armed guard, who went to wait outside.

Donna was getting bored and more testy by the minute for them making her wait. It had been at least ten minutes. Hadn't these people wanted to question her? Did they want her to die of boredom first? Her eyes strayed from the door and to her surroundings again...nothing but gray...boring gray...
Her brows knit together suddenly...Gray with a little black spec she had overlooked before. Going the the corner in question she looked at it more closely. It was high-up but she could tell there was a glare on the glass...it was a video camera...a flippin' video camera!
Well, I shouldn't be surprised, Donna thought, seething.
"Oi!" she roared. "You! Whoever's in that room looking at screens. Too much of a coward to actually come down and question me? Got to get your nerve up to be in the same room?"
She stared at the camera defiantly.

The Doctor looked at the guard, a look of confusion on his face. "What sort of war is it?"
So it was a war, then. That was why people were acting as they were. The Time Lord didn't like wars...didn't like them one bit. He had never seen any good come from a war, not really. He had lost his people to a war, his planet, his family, his friends.....any many people that he had met in his travels...all of them were lost to war.
"And where have you taken my friend?"

The guard watching Donna's room chuckled a little as he watched the monitor. The longer she protested and got antsy, the more inclined he was to just sit and watch.
*** The guard in the Doctor's room moved to stand in front of the Doctor, the table between them. "Your friend is in a secured location." He watched him carefully. "How could you not know about the war?"

The Doctor looked back at the guard, "Well, the thing is that I'm not exactly from around here...I just sort of ended up here. I'm a traveler, really...and somehow got my coordinates wrong...."
He looked back at the man, studying him. "Now then...you have a war going on..."

A couple minutes passed and nothing happened...well fine...and why should they come down? The asses. She kept looking defiantly at the camera as she thought. As long as I pitch and scream, they're not going to come down, she decided. They want me to wear myself down. She almost snorted, like that was going to happen. So, I have to find a way...her thoughts trailed off.
Her eyes narrowed further at the camera and then flit down to the corner the piece of tech was above. With a hint of a smile, Donna looked back at the camera, waved, and walked with purpose towards the corner. Once there, she stood herself right below the camera, in it's blind spot. Whether they came down or not now, she could relax more and just wait...*without* being watched thank you very much.

The guard in the Doctor's room watched him carefully. "Yes, we are in war. You should have heard something about it. All traffic has been deterred from here."
*** When the camera lost sights of Donna, a few armed guards came in and grabbed her from the corner. They tried to move her back over to the chair.

The Doctor replied to the guard, "Well, the communication systems in my ship have broken down," he lied. "I've been meaning to repair them....so....what sort off war is this?"
Perhaps if he could get this man talking, he would realize that he and Donna were not enemies. Then they would be free to investigate....in war, there was almost always something going on that shouldn't be.
