The Captain looked to one of his other men to explain the situation or to evaluate the Doctor. The paper said what it said, but there had been so many spies lately. Some of them had claimed to be working for one thing or the other.

The man watched them interact.
*** "You better listen to what this guy says, he's the boy genius, remember?" Branstone told the General.
Kradston frowned. He only called him that when he either had another agenda or if he was trying to keep something from him.
The General frowned. "What do you suggest, Kradston?"

The Captain gave a signal, letting his men know that he didn't trust the two "inspectors," and he wanted them brought in for questioning. Since similar occurrences had happened before, he had worked out a hand gesture with his men so that they would know what he wanted without the suspects knowing. He couldn't have them run off, alerted to his suspicions.

The men saw his signal and lowered their weapons.
"I'm sorry, but precautions had to be taken. You understand." He smiled disarmingly. "We'll let you get to the elevators now." He motioned down the hall to where the elevators were located as his men moved behind the two suspects.
Now in position, the soldiers rushed them from behind.
"Oi! Watch it!" Donna shouted as she was roughly put into handcuffs.

The Doctor sighed. It wasn't as though he hadn't been captured before. "All right," he said. "We will cooperate...see....no need to be rough."
The Captain smirked, hoping that he was right, and that these were spies. "Take them away to be questioned by our intelligence men," he instructed the men.

"What I've always suggested. Let me do my job and stand back and take the credit," Kradston told the General. "Let me lead and we'll have victory."
The General grumbled, then saluted and left.
Branstone strolled up to the table. "So... buddy..."
"What do you want this time?" Kradston asked, looking at him with that no-nonsense look.

The men took no heed of the Doctor's words and kept handling him and his companion without kid gloves; they did not like spies...not at all, and any chance they got to rough them up was a welcome opportunity. Nodding at the Captain's words, they shuffled off yanking their prisoners behind them.
Donna's angry shouts quieted to angry words under her breath, but her scathing glare stayed at full force. They were taken into the elevators and down to the basement of the tall building. During their ride down, she tried moving her hands behind her a bit to see how good the handcuffs were and that got her shoved by one of the men. The red head bit her tongue, knowing that saying anything more would just hurt their case.
The elevator doors opened and the time travelers were brought into a vast dark maze-like place. One of the men prodded Donna forward with his gun.
"Move."
She glared at him and stepped out into the dim setting.

Branstone looked a little caught covered by a look of innocent surprise. "Who says I want something? I can't just talk?"
"Not when we're 'buddy's or 'pal's," Kradston said. "Get to it, I have a war to win."

The Doctor sighed, his mind beginning to generate possible escape plans. For now, though, he would just comply with the guards. Perhaps if they took him to soime sort of leader or something, he might be able to better asess their situation. The Doctor glanced around the dim settings. It seemed that the floor and walls were all concrete. Not really surprising.

The two were then separated for the questioning. Put in nearly identical rooms with a simple table and chair. The cuffs were released by an electronic system as soon as each was alone and locked in their representative mood.
*** MEANWHILE on another world.
Branstone sighed. "Okay, alright. I want you to do a favor for me."

The Doctor sighed, waiting for the questioning to begin. He didn't like being separated from his companions. He looked around at the limited furnishings. Talking to himself, he said, "Oh, look....a chair...chairs are very good."
He walked over to the chair and sat down.

Guards were watching what was going on in each of the rooms through closed-circuit. This was the usual routine with spies, give them some time alone, see how long they can last before going into questioning.
*** ON THE OTHER PLANET.
Kradston stared at him. "I should turn you in."
"They've got my wife, Kradston," Branstone pleaded.
"They've got several men's wives. And every one of those men need to keep calm and not do rash things such as this. I will not allow you to go to the enemy and possibly give them information. That is what they want," Kradston said, rather coldly.

The Doctor sat there. Finally, he reached into his pocket and pulled out one of the Harry Potter books to read. Since he was trying to bide his time, he didn't read at the Time Lord reading pace. Instead, he chose to read slower, savoring every detail of the book.

The guard watched his screen closely, changing the angle of the view of his room so that he could see what he was reading. This book was alien to him, and impossible to read. He alerted his superior officer, who was convinced it was encrypted instructions. His door unlocked and an armed guard came in and stood at the door. This was just to see the Doctor's reaction.

The Doctor looked up from the book when the guard entered. He grinned, "Good....maybe someone will finally tell me what's going on around here."
