Bryan stood there a moment after she left, a bit shocked by what she told him. He sighed, seeing that this might not work out, especially if she had anything to do with UNIT. He knew that this probably wasn't the best time for anything. He honestly had no idea what to do at the moment. Should he go and try to apologize, or should he stay there and wait for her to calm down, or should he just leave her and head back home.
"I have got to be absolutely cracked," he said as he put his glass down and walked over to her bedroom door. "Listen, I'm sorry... I'm sorry I upset you... I'll leave if you want me to..."

A man, with his hand in his pockets, whistled away happily in the street. His goggles clacked away to themselves, making a noise to accompany his sound. The lamp light glistened off of them and he gave an even happier whistle, his pride showing clearly. Suddenly, a scream from a nearby house interrupted the music he made and he jumped out of his skin.
He'd been walking right beside the house it had come from too, and looking over into the window, he could see two people sitting down. They seemed as if they were talking, but he couldn't understand why she'd screamed. After all, the walls were thick enough to block out speech.
Continuing to gaze into the window from the street outside, his curiosity got the better of him. The man stood for a while, just watching them inside.

She heard him outside her door but the strangled sobs escaping from her were preventing her from understanding what he was saying. She didn't want to be alone she wanted someone to hold her and promise everything would be okay but she didn't think that some total stranger would be the best choice for that. At the moment she had given up making decisions so she moved to lean against her bed frame and left him to make the next move.

I have got to have gone completely mental," Bryan whispered to himself as he slowly opened the door. He poked his head in cautiously, hoping his head wouldn't be smashed in. "Is it alright if I come in?"

She saw him hesitantly poke his head in and ask politely if he could enter. She was just barely able to nod her head before another bout of sobs racked her small frame.

Bryan walked in and silently closed the door behind him. He then slowly walked up beside Serenity's bent form. Then he sat down a little ways away from her, not sure if she wanted some one close or for him to stay away.

She saw him sit down a little ways away so she scooted real close to him and laid her head on his shoulder trying to fight the tears that continued to fall. When they finally stopped she made up her mind. She may have only known him a short time but she felt a strange need to bear her soul to him. so she began her story, "My team and I had been investigating a call about a 'UFO' we didn't take it seriously because we get over a hundred calls a week about UFOs and we hadn't ever encountered a real one. We preformed the usual safety measures any ways. They killed Richard and Lena in an instant and by the time UNIT got there I was the only one still alive. There were 36 of us and I was the only one to survive. The UNIT officers got my statement and then one of them brought me a glass of water. One man watched me the entire time I drank it then stared at me for about 20 minutes before he started talking to another officer. They had given me retcon. Less than 1% of the population is immune to retcon. UNIT was trying to change that so they were running experiments. They gave me a choice, be a test subject or be killed. I wanted to live. They spent 2 years running every test possible on me. Every single impossibly painful test they could find. There was nothing different but they continued torturing me. I wished every day I had chosen death. A woman named Martha Jones hated what they were doing so she helped me escape and I create a new life for myself but the memories are still there and some times random things can trigger them." She waited for his reaction. She waited for his disgust. She waited for him to pull away.

"dang stupid humans," Bryan thought. He couldn't help it. Even if he was half human himself, he hated the way they treated each other sometimes.
He wrapped his arms around her, trying to comfort her. "Thank God for Martha Jones, then. I'm so sorry that that happened to you."

She jerked upright and gasped before turning towards him with a stricken expression on her face and whispering, "I just told a strange everything." She got up and started shoving things into a bag that she had pulled from under the bed all the time muttering, "Their going to find me." over and over again.

"What?" Bryan asked. "Hey, hey! How are they going to find you?" He was starting to get a bit frightened for himself as well.

She turned to stair at him with a crazed expression adorning her face and whispered, "They always know. Their always watching. Their always listening. They always find me. Their coming even now." She shoved a few more articles of clothing in her bag before grabbing several framed pictures and zipping the bag. she went to leave the room.

"Serenity," Bryan said as he grabbed her, stopping her. "Listen to yourself. How could they possibly know?" He thought about it. "They won't find you at my place."

"They wont be able to find me? Really?" She looked at him and every ounce of her trust was placed in his hands.

"Trust me, I know they won't find you," Bryan said, offering his hand. He knew that if there was any place that would be safe from UNIT. Because if he couldn't keep her safe, he'd be sunk too.

A brilliant smile lit up her face and she took his hand as if it was her lifeline. "Thank you!" she whispered before pressing her lips to his cheek for just a second before turning away and blushing furiously all the while still holding onto his hand.
