Noticing that he had already finished his water and wanting to avoid any uncomfortable silences she asked, "Do you want some more water? You seemed to have inhaled the stuff you already had." She added the last line with a smile, attempting to get him to laugh.

Bryan laughed nervously. "If it wouldn't be a bother. Yes, please." He hoped this hadn't shone suspicion on him, his hair was enough, from his point of view, to tell that he was odd, not to mention his gloves.

She could tell that he wasn't telling her something but she refused to judge him because she too had many secrets. She quickly got him another glass of water before sitting back down. In an effort to start a conversation she asked, "So Bryan, what do you do for a living?"

Bryan thanked her again for the water and forced himself to sip rather than gulp at it. He smiled a bit at the question. "I, uh... Promise you won't laugh?"

She frowned before asking, "Why would I laugh?" She was genuinely concerned because laughing at something that someone chose to do was simply cruel in her mind.

"Well, most of the people I tell them where I work, they laugh," Bryan said. He took a deep breath, then said, "I work at the video store down the road. The Green Eyes Video Store." All the people he talked to said it was the most corny Science-Fiction store in all of Cardiff, if not all of Wales.

She scoffed slightly at his statement, "There is nothing wrong with science fiction. I for one love science fiction. I think it is thrilling the thought that there could be life out there! If you truly think about it it seems that it would be impossible for there not to be because compared to the rest of the universe Earth is tiny so the probability that there is another planet out there that could support life is entirely possible and if-" She cut off blushing furiously. she always got really into it when people started talking about science fiction or the possibility of life in space.

Bryan smiled. Maybe there was a possibility for him to tell her what he was... maybe... "I'm glad you think so. You're the first person I've found that said anything like that and actually believed it."

She gave him a guilty smile. "Yeah, I'm actually an astrobiologist, so it's sort of my job to study that and research the possibilities. But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that just because it's my job! I really love everything and anything to do with space, aliens, you know all that fun stuff!"

"Astrobiologist. Wow," Bryan said, a bit threatened and blown-over at the same time. Did she already know about him? "Sounds like interesting work. It would probably be even better if you could actually get in the deep water, rather than gazing at its surface and guessing at the possibilities."

"Yeah, part of me thinks it would be amazing to travel to different worlds and study different species while another part likes everything just the way it is and doesn't want to change. But of course you don't always get to be the one to decide which path your life will take. I think that if I really had to make that decision I would go, I would see new things, and hopefully all the other species would be fairly friendly. Hostile aliens aren't my favourite things." She shuddered and for a second she was pulled into the past, into a memory she longed to forget. Then it was over and the slight nausea she felt and her memories the only proof it had ever happened.

Bryan nodded. "I hear you... Wait, you talk as if you have experience with hostile aliens." He looked at her seriously, examining her expressions.

Her mind was screaming at her while she concentrated on keeping her face calm. "What are you talking about? Unfortunately there still isn't any really proof about the existence of extraterrestrial life." She stated firmly hoping he hadn't noticed the flash of fear on her face. She didn't want anyone to know.

Bryan looked seriously at her. "Why won't you just tell me? Whatever you think I won't believe, well, you'd very surprised what all I would believe." He laughed a little at the last sentiment.

"FINE! YOU WANT TO KNOW! YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT MY ENTIRE TEAM THAT WAS KILLED BY THREE HOSTILE ALIENS! YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT UNIT DID TO ME THAN THEY FOUND OUT I WAS IMMUNE TO RETCON! YOU HAVE KNOWN ME FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES SO DON'T EVEN TRY TO CLAIM YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW! It's my life, and I don't have to tell you anything." When she was finished she walked out of the room and just about ran to her bedroom where she slammed the door and leaned her back against it and pulling her knees tight to her chest and sobbing.
