Thete headed up the stairs, fuming.
"At least I have a mum.....you don't...I bet she killed herself after seeing you born. She knew you'd never amount to much."
dang it all! he thought. He's not worth my time. He's not. Why can't I shake this?
Ahead, he heard yet another voice he recognized, like fingernails on a chalkboard.
"Hey there, Bookworm."
The voice belonged to Eiougougol's on-again off-again girlfriend. He tensed, assuming on the strength of the taunt alone that she was talking to him.
She wasn't. She'd found another victim.
"Don't you do anything else besides read? No wonder you've never had a boyfriend...no guy would want someone like you. You practically walk around with a book everywhere you go. It's like you are stupid or something -- you can't even read at the normal pace of a Gallifreyan."
"Hmm....have you seen my boyfriend around here?" Apoguportila asked her. "It's a shame you don't have one of your own..."
With that she burst out in a fit of laughter, as if her remarks were a witticism for the ages. Knowing her, Thete decided, she probably thinks it is.
"At least I can read. And I prefer not to have a boyfriend, because they impede intellectual advancement," a faintly-familiar voice replied.
Thete picked up his pace, rounding the corner.
"I haven't seen your boyfriend, it's not my place to keep track of him," Libby responded, turning to walk down the hall.
"Ah, Libby! There you are!" He didn't actually know her all that well, but he wasn't going to let that stop him from helping her out.
He fell into step beside her. "Come on, come on, we'll be late for class. Oh, and don't mind Apo, there. She's never once used a word that sent a listener to a dictionary, and she's awfully proud of being second fiddle to Eiougougol's right hand."

"Ah, Libby! there you are!"
A males voice cut into her mind as her head snapped around. She was rather startled that anyone was talking to her - other then berating or teasing her. She was a bookworm so what - she enjoyed her intelligence, at least she had the eloquence of word - that most women had in beauty. Though she was a full blooded member of her race - which meant she wasn't without her own social graces. Libertaniasiel - was of a social standing that most wouldn't understand. It wasn't Council, it was the intellectual leading minds of the community.
"Come on, come on, we'll be late for class. Oh, and don't mind Apo, there. She's never once used a word that sent a listener to a dictionary, and she's awfully proud of being second fiddle to Eiougougol's right hand."
Startled, utterly startled she was - that a boy was walking with her to class. She stopped - a small voice in her mind making her realize that she didn't have class for a little bit longer, or did she? Was her time off - probably was. Mother had reset all the clocks - which meant she wasn't early, she was going to be late. "Thank you." She responded in a gentle voice. This was well before the cold and calculated woman of the future - she was still a teenage girl - with emotions like any others. A boy was talking to her - a cute boy at that.
"Thete, if you like I could help you out with some studying, to pay you back for helping me away from her?" She said as she gave him a soft and gentle smile. Her head came up fully, allowing her bangs to fall to the side a bit - and her face to be seen. Lucky Thete - first kid in school to see her face. She was actually rather pretty. With rather bright colored eyes. One couldn't be quite certain what color they were at a given moment - so it was safe to assume that they were hazel.

Apoguportila glared at Libby. "Oh yeah? Well, I can read...I just don't do it all the time. I can read at the normal Time Lord reading speed, unlike you, obviously." She snickered at her own little comment. "Boyfriends only help....they do nothing to harm intellectual development! But you wouldn't know."
She was too busy thinking of her own boyfriend to realize that the other girl had left her presence. When she finally noticed this, she rolled her eyes. "Oh, go away then..."
_____________________ Eiougougol's face turned red as he processed Koschei's comment. "Shut up, Koschei...I was talking about Theta and Tyler's father. Honestly, Professor, MY father would never do such a thing. You really ought to punish Koschei for making up lies, tarnishing my father's good name."
He glared at Koschei and mouthed to him, "Just wait until after school...you'll be sorry."

Koschei shook his head sadly. "I understand fully, Eiou. Enabling behavior. We learned about it last semester. You just can't bring yourself to admit what your father does, so you project it onto others and lash out."
He smiled. "But you don't have to deny it any longer. Just let me know when you want help. My father is the Castellan, after all. He can make sure you have someplace safe you can go."
He glared at Koschei and mouthed to him, "Just wait until after school...you'll be sorry."
Koschei smiled broadly, and mimed blowing a kiss back to Eiou.

"Thank you," Libby responded in a gentle voice."It was my pleasure," Thete said, offhandedly. "She's a complete... well... I probably shouldn't use the appropriate language to describe her. Not in front of a lady, anyway." "Thete, if you like I could help you out with some studying, to pay you back for helping me away from her?" She said as she gave him a soft and gentle smile. Her head came up fully, allowing her bangs to fall to the side a bit - and her face to be seen. Lucky Thete - first kid in school to see her face. She was actually rather pretty. What he had been getting ready to say was "I don't need any help studying. I get along perfectly well on my own, thank you." But, as he looked at Libby, something down in his limbic system slapped his arrogance down. Wow, he found himself thinking, captured by her eyes and by that soft little smile. He smiled back, a little lop-sidedly. "Uhm," he managed, then swallowed hard and tried again. "Uh, that is, yes. I... I'd like that." He paused again. "Uh, thank you," he finished, lamely. (OOC: I found a picture of our young Doctor. It's still probably a little too old for age 17, but it's the closest I could get. )

(( LOL Awesomeness! I can find a better playby for you guys? And other playbys if you need them, I have a good site for that kind of stuff? It's called Hollow Art?)) Young Libby )) "It was my pleasure," Thete said, offhandedly. "She's a complete... well... I probably shouldn't use the appropriate language to describe her. Not in front of a lady, anyway."
Libby felt something flutter in her chest, a flush crossing her cheeks for a moment as he cleared her throat. "Oh it's quite alright. My mother uses worse language when she's working. My mother is The Mist, and my father The Deviant. They are rather advanced in the field of Science and Technology." She said as she felt her cheeks flare with a deeper color. Her lip was caught between her teeth as she smiled at him faintly. A definite flutter was in her chest. He smiled back, a little lop-sidedly. "Uhm," he managed, then swallowed hard and tried again. "Uh, that is, yes. I... I'd like that." He paused again. "Uh, thank you," he finished, lamely.
"Wonderful. We can meet after class?" She commented as she felt her cheeks flare with colors. Was this what they called a crush? Was she honestly getting a crush on this young man? She had talked to him on a few occasions, and she remembered him faintly from The Initiation Ceremony. She smiled even brighter at his words - and then tucked her head down. "Thank you, thank you very much." She actually laughed weakly as her head remained tucked down now and she looked at ehr book. "You know the reason why she was teasing me? This book. But I read it slower because - I'm learning High Gallifreyan." She said with a faint smile. Then she looked around. "We are already late, we should hurry - people are going to start whispering bad enough,t he longer we are late - the more rumors they will start." She said with a weak smile.

"Wonderful. We can meet after class?"
Thete brightened at that. "Sure! That would be great!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized just how overexcited he sounded. Try as he might, he couldn't keep a blush from heating his face.
She smiled even brighter at his words - and then tucked her head down. "Thank you, thank you very much." She laughed.
He eyed the book she was carrying, noting the script.
"You know the reason why she was teasing me? This book. But I read it slower because - I'm learning High Gallifreyan."
"Really?" Thete asked. "Interesting. I can help you with that, actually. I'm fluent in it."
"We are already late, we should hurry - people are going to start whispering bad enough,t he longer we are late - the more rumors they will start." She said with a weak smile.
He smiled, a little crookedly. "Of course," he replied. "What is your first class? I've got Introductory Noospheric Theory, myself."

Eiougougol glared at Koschei as he pretended to blow him a kiss. "How dare you....you little fool. I'm going to pound you for that."
Eiougougol got up from his seat, not caring whether or not an adult saw him. He then marched over to where Koschei was sitting and tried to punch him in the face.
"And it is NOT enabling behavior....oh...and when I find Theta, he's going to get some of this too...." He said as he flung his fist at Koschei's face.
It really didn't take much to make Eiougougol angry, and he wasn't ashamed of lashing out at someone he despised.

Libby found her head tucked down - her face hidden by her hair. The blush breaking out across her features. She was glad he had said he was willing to meet with her. She looked at him sideways through her hair - and smiled weakly. "Alright, that sounds very good." She responded as her head came up. She clutched the book to her head, a small smile crossing her features. She was working as hard as she could to keep herself from freaking out.
"Really?" Thete asked. "Interesting. I can help you with that, actually. I'm fluent in it."
"My mother and father have asked me to learn it before my first regeneration is complete. So that I can read their notes - when they have passed them on to me." She said as she looked at him and smiled brightly. That smile was seeable at the bottom of her bangs - as she caught her lip in her teeth, worrying on it for a moment. "Well it looks like we can help each other then!" She said cheerfully.
She stopped a little short as she laughed softly and clutched her book to her chest. "I've actually only got four classes today, and I don't start having class till next period. The teachers just tend to let me sit in on whatever classes I want in that time period. I'm not as smart as Koschei, but I'm... I'm an Archive... my mind does something so odd..." She whispered as she tapped her forehead. "I remember things, a lot of things. Whatever I learn - I can remember as if it was yesterday." She said this and smiled at him weakly.
"It's why boys don't talk to me. I blather about useless things, like the history of TARDIS acceleration and classifications of macrobiotics... " She said this and sighed faintly. Oh no - she was doing this again.

"My mother and father have asked me to learn it before my first regeneration is complete. So that I can read their notes - when they have passed them on to me."
Thete nodded. "My father just spoke it at home all the time. I was six before I realized it was remarkable." He shrugged. "I'm still not sure why he did it, actually, but it has come in handy. Once or twice."
She said as she looked at him and smiled brightly. That smile was seeable at the bottom of her bangs - as she caught her lip in her teeth, worrying on it for a moment. "Well it looks like we can help each other then!" She said cheerfully.
He smiled back. It was a lopsided grin, one that didn't look like it was seen with any frequency, but it held warmth. "I guess we can."
"I've actually only got four classes today, and I don't start having class till next period. The teachers just tend to let me sit in on whatever classes I want in that time period. I'm not as smart as Koschei, but I'm... I'm an Archive... my mind does something so odd..."
"Kos isn't that smart... well, okay, he is. I mean, I tutored him through two classes last semester..." He broke off as she continued.
She whispered as she tapped her forehead.
"The first proto-TARDISes were limited to an accelleration of 1 sps, due to their nature as wholly mechanical devices - meaning that they were restricted by Moorewell's Law, by the requirement to conserve artron reserves because the Eye of Rassilon had not yet been opened, and the unrefined temporal awareness of Gallifreyans functioning without the Rassilion Imprimature? That sort of useless blather?" Thete responded with a smile. "I'm not an Archive, myself, but I do have a remarkably good memory."
Internally, he winced. Damnit, he thought, I'm showing off. Stop it, Thete! I're making a fool of myself.

Eiougougol glared. "How dare you....you little fool. I'm going to pound you for that."
Thump-thump-thump-thump went the sound of the drums in Koschei's mind as he watched Eiougougol rise and come at him. He smiled, slightly and mostly to himself.
thump-thump-thump-thump
"And it is NOT enabling behavior....oh...and when I find Theta, he's going to get some of this too...." He said as he flung his fist at Koschei's face.
Koschei watched the fist come, listening to the drumbeat in his mind, trying to relax. He made a perfunctory effort at dodging, mostly turning his face to let the side of his head take the blow.
thump-thump-thump-THUMP!
He'd been expecting it, but the heavy blow rattled his head and knocked him sideways out of his chair. Mildly disoriented, his attempt catch himself and roll with the impact failed. He crashed heavily to the floor, his head bouncing against the floor.
Distantly, over the sound of the drums, he could hear the professor shouting something. His sides shook, and a strange snorting sound escaped his lips.

Libby was staring at him as she walked towards the class he had mentioned. Her eyes were wide as she bit her lower lip. He was perfect, and it didn't matter if he wasn't the most stunning of time lords in looks - he was still a boy, and he was attractive and he was talking to her. More then that he knew things like she did. She bounced forward on her feet and whirled around to face him - the smile bright on her face. "It's alright!" She exclaimed as she waved her hand a little, clutching her book to her chest.
"I think it's amazing, that you can remember all that. I remember small factoids about other things, mom and dad have been training me on my memory - ever since.. my initiation... I've been a bit odd." She admitted as she rolled her shoulder back. "I'm going to work in the libraries, because I can recopy old documents as if they were new." She said as she smiled at him brightly. Stopping for a moment and looking to the side - blushing darkly.
"Ummm we are going to be even later now, more then that - kids are going to talk. You do know that - right?" She admitted as she looked up, a weak smile crossing her features.

Hermione walked in. Her eyes scanned the scene and immediatley felt like she shouldn't get involved. She just leant against a wall, terrified just like she had been at the schism ages back. She remembered the agony of seeing all the kids chatting and ignoring her at first. She still didn't fit in now much but she got along OK. She figured nobody knew her there so she slipped away, still against the wall, and watched everyone.
