Bryan was down for some time until he finally surfaced with a smile on his face. "God, I love this planet," he muttered as he ruffled his hair.
He looked over the surface of the bay, toward the boats. As much as he loved Earth, his real home was not here.

"I wonder what it's like to fly so high."
"It's terrifying yet invigorating at the same time. It makes me feel free, but I'm constantly afraid I'm going to just fall out of the sky." Flying was one of the things she was truly passionate about.
"Besides Colorado, what other place have you enjoyed?"
She grinned before retorting, "It might be easier to list the places I haven't been." She started ticking off on her fingers. "I've been just about everywhere in the USA and Canada. I spent three weeks in Mexico. A few countries in Central America. Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and Ecuador . All of the UK. Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and Portugal. Most of my time was spent in Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries so I'm fluent in both. I want to see more of Europe and Asia and maybe go to Africa as well. Where have you been?"

One thing you never did was ask Riocard about his travels. Once you got him going it was terribly hard for him to control himself and stop speaking. "I guess France is obvious. I was born there." But that was obvious too, wasn't it? He had never been the United States or Canada or Mexico. "I'm fluent in Spanish, too. Not so much in Portuguese." He was desperately trying to keep the flow of his travels to keep from bursting out. "And in Italian, and French. And a few other languages." All right, so it wasn't exactly true. To be 'fluent' would mean that you were able to read, write, and speak in that language. Riocard could only speak.
"I've traveled throughout Asia and Africa. Europe as well." Funny how she seemed to have gone everywhere that Rio hadn't gotten around to visiting, and how he traveled the places she wanted to go. "Africa is very beautiful. I'd stay out of Russia though." Of course, the reason for his dislike of the country was a personal thing. Mean ole Russia.

"Where in France were you born?" She asked eagerly, she had been to several places throughout France.
"I'm fluent in Spanish, too. Not so much in Portuguese. And in Italian, and French. And a few other languages."
"You would think that knowing Spanish would make learning Portuguese easier but trust me it doesn't. It actually makes it harder because you have to unlearn most of your Spanish for Portuguese to make sense." She told him truthfully. It had taken her a very long time to learn Portuguese and a lot of stress in her and her teacher. "Wow, you know a lot of languages." She told him shocked. "I just speak English, Spanish and Portuguese with a few random phrases in other languages." She seemed to think for a few moments before saying carefully, "Se incroyable. Umm... Je suis un parapluie. My friend taught me that but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean what she told me it meant. "
"We seem to have gone to the exact opposite places. You've seen one half of the world while I've seen the other." She realised after he started lidting the countries he had been to.
"Africa is very beautiful. I'd stay out of Russia though."
She frowned a little before asking, "What's wrong with Russia?" It was one of the countries that was on her list of places to see. It was actually pretty close to the top of the list. Apparently Russia and Siberia in the winter were supposed to be beautiful with all the snow and the wild.

"Cap-d'Ail in southeastern France. It's a seaside town. The Mediterranean." He didn't know why his voice displayed as much pride as it did. He had only lived in the commune for eight years. "It has nice beaches. It's where my father taught me how to sail." He grinned.
He nodded as she explained the difficulties of learning close languages. He had never been formally taught a language -- he just listened and repeated until sentences were coherent. "Well... I can speak in those languages. I can't read or write in them." He admitted nervously, his cheeks tinging from embarrassment. But then she called herself an umbrella and he giggled. "Je n'aurais pas connu." He replied. "You called yourself a wonderful umbrella."
"That's what I was just thinking," Rio laughed. River and Snow - both vagabonds with wanderlust and weird eyes. Talk about a chance meeting. He looked down at the pond as she asked what was wrong with Russia. He had no qualms about telling her, but he was afraid that the conversation would take a turn for the worse. "My father and I were shot by Russian officials. It's just a personal vendetta. You should go. It's very pretty." He told her.

As he described the town he was born in she could hear the pride in his voice. "You must have loved it very much. I've never been near there but I'll have to add it to my places to go. I sounds amazing. You love you father very much?"
"Well... I can speak in those languages. I can't read or write in them."
She chuckled and smiled at him, "In my book that is enough to claim your fluent. I can do all three in Spanish but I couldn't read or write in Portuguese to save my life."
"Je n'aurais pas connu." He replied. "You called yourself a wonderful umbrella."
"I have no idea what you just said but yeah." She scowled and muttered unintelligibly under her breath. "She told me it meant 'Can you help me?'." Then suddenly she gasped before looking up at him wide eyed, "I said that to a few people in France. I though it worked because they all started talking to me in English after that." She blushed realising how stupid she must have sounded.
"My father and I were shot by Russian officials. It's just a personal vendetta. You should go. It's very pretty."
She gasped and put her hand to her mouth, "That's horrible! If I go I will have to be sure to avoid people and just stay in the wilderness."

"Yeah, I loved it." He agreed. It was the longest place he had stayed in - ever - and even though he could only remember a few years, those were the best. He'd visit the beaches with his father and sail about. The tourists would come up to them and speak in clumsy French about how cute little Rio was. At her question about whether he loved his father, he smiled. "Of course I do." He would have gone about how great of a man his father was, but he was afraid he'd end up crying and blubbering.
He returned her smile. "Thanks." He shrugged as she spoke about how she could only speak Portuguese. "I can do all three in French." He shrugged. Rio felt rather pathetic he could only read and write in one language when she had two languages on him. But he decided to let it drop. It wasn't his fault that between smuggling people out of war-torn countries and running from governments that he had never bothered to learn. Right?
"I said you could have fooled me." Okay, technically he said 'I wouldn't have known', but they were generally the same thing. He laughed at her expression. "Pouvez-vous m'aider. That's how you ask for help." He told her honestly. He couldn't help but be amused as she lamented over the fact she had told people that. "Non, I'm sure they've heard stranger. At least you pronounced decently." It was his poor attempt at a compliment.
He smiled as she spoke of just staying in the wilderness. "Yeah. I was okay. I'm not sure how I was okay, but..." He trailed off, twiddling his thumbs. He didn't want to say 'gee, I was perfectly dandy but my father died a slow and painful death'. So he just shrugged.

"Pouvez-vous m'aider. That's how you ask for help."
"I'll have to remember that next time I go to France. Well, it wouldn't work for me to learn it perfectly because then people would respond in French and I would have no idea what they were saying. Maybe I should stick with the umbrella thing. It seemed to work." She commented.
"Non, I'm sure they've heard stranger. At least you pronounced decently."
She chuckled before replying, "Well that's the positive. I may be completely embarrassing myself but at least I can do it properly."
"Yeah. I was okay. I'm not sure how I was okay, but..."
She wanted to ask what that meant but she was pretty sure that it would be something he wanted to talk about and she wasn't that comfortable asking. She knew what it was like when people asked questions you were uncomfortable answering. It could ruin an entire conversation. so she decided to just skip over it and asked instead, "What is your favourite place out of everywhere you've ever been?"

Rio laughed. "You could ask if they speak English. Parlez-vous anglais." He informed her and yawned as he stretched. "Or you could just take me along to translate for you," he suggested with a broad smile.
What is your favourite place out of everywhere you've ever been?
He hummed in thought. He assumed that she meant besides the place in China he had spoken about earlier. Rio rubbed his jaw and glanced around. "Hard for me to pick favorites, but... I really am quite fond of the isolated parts of New Zealand. I would like to go to the moon, though." He laughed.

"Or you could just take me along to translate for you,"
She smiled shyly at him. "I think I'd like that." She still wasn't sure what it was about this guy that made her feel so safe and comfortable but she wasn't one to turn down something like that.
"I really am quite fond of the isolated parts of New Zealand. I would like to go to the moon, though."
"Yeah I've heard that New Zealand is beautiful, I'm hoping to go someday. Maybe you could show me around." She added feeling a little self-concious. "I would love to go to the moon. See space, look down at the Earth from above. It would be amazing. I wish it were possible to just go out into space and see the stars." She then added, "Maybe meet other species." to see ehat his reaction would be to the possibility of aliens.

*Sorry I haven't been on much. We've been having family issues.*
He walked over to the edge of the water where he saw Bryan. He was in the water just a little way out from the dock so Jack decided to sit along the edge and wait for Bryan to come back to the shore.

(I saw that. I hope things get better)
Bryan looked up and saw Jack on the dock. "Well, hello." He tried to make sure his hands were under the water. "Water's a bit cold. It's great. You are the guy from the coffee shop, right?"

He chuckled and grinned, "Wow, surprisingly I think that is one of the few names I have never been called, the guy from the coffee shop. Yes, I am the guy from the coffee shop." He looked around scanning the area to see if anyone else was near, "isn't it a bit cold for a swim?"

"Maybe, but I'm used to it," Bryan said. "Actually part of the polar bear club nearby. The water feels perfect to me." At this moment, he knew he was stuck. He couldn't get out because he would expose his hands. He couldn't stay in the water too long or he would freeze. The chill was starting to get to him.
