The moon and the trees? Rio liked both of those things. When his father had been sailing their boat, Rio would perch up on the top of the ship and stare up at the sky. The moon had always captivated Rio's interest. He had often heard of astronauts and the like visiting it. He wouldn't mind visiting the moon or any other planet out there. His father had taught him that there were aliens from different planets. Rio still tried to believe him, but why would any alien want to come to a dank little place like Earth?
He giggled at her ramblings. Usually it was Rio who was doing the awkward rambling, so it felt sort of.. odd. Is it as endearing when I ramble? He wondered. "It is very hard to see your own eyes." Rio agreed. He tilted his head slightly as she lowered her eyes and started to blush. He decided not to comment on it.

"It is very hard to see your own eyes."
She wasn't sure what to say to that. She wanted to say something to break the silence but there wasn't much more she could add in addition to what she had been rambling about before. It was just a few minutes before they reached the park. Without thinking she immediately veered of the path towards the trees that lined the far edge of the park. Right at the edge of the woods there was a thin path that led into the trees. She turned to Rio and said, "The best places are those that you find right off the path." she smiled and slipped into the woods.

A line from a poem flitted through his head -- something about taking the path less travelled on. "I agree," Rio followed her into the woods. As an afterthought, perhaps following a stranger into a dark, secluded section of the woods was not his brightest idea. However, he was a generally trusting person and doubted that Nieve would do anything to hurt him.
"China has beautiful forests," He told her. "Tianshan Mountain Xueling Spruce Forest is my favorite. My father and I went there in the winter. It was covered with snow, the waters were still.." He trailed off happily. Normally he was melancholy when speaking of his father, but the memory of them discovering that forest calmed his sadness. They had discovered it shortly before the man had died, so of course that place was special to Rio. "It's worth a visit."

"China has beautiful forests," He told her. "Tianshan Mountain Xueling Spruce Forest is my favorite. My father and I went there in the winter. It was covered with snow, the waters were still.."
"I've never been to China but that sounds amazing. My favourite place ever is the Rocky Mountain National Forest in Colorado. It's in the USA. Pictures can't do it justice. It was the one place I never wanted to leave. Every season is beautiful in it's own way and it's serene. You can walk for miles without seeing any sign of humans. It's completely untouched by man kind." She sighed. She missed Colorado so much. It was the one place she had felt at home, the one place where her wanderlust seemed to vanish completely.
They were a little ways into the woods when she saw the path in front of her begin to get brighter and she knew that they were almost there. Sure enough just moments later they entered into a small clearing in the woods. There was a small pond in the centre. All around the clearing was long grass reaching all the way to the edges.
*In regards to Colorado everything I said there was true. I use to live near there. It was amazing*

The one place I never wanted to leave.
Rio nodded because he knew exactly how it felt. To feel as though you really belonged somewhere but then... you just had to leave. "I've never been to the States," He admitted, staring around the new scenery. It was beautiful -- the pond and the grass didn't seem to hold any signs of anything. Besides a few chittering animals and small birds.
"I'll visit Colorado if you visit China," He offered. Rio would have said that they'd visit the places together, but he doubted that she would have taken well to that suggestion. He sat down besides the pond and pulled his knees up to his chest. "It's pretty here.

"I'll visit Colorado if you visit China," He offered.
She smiled before replying, "Deal, I've been meaning to go to China any way." She stopped her self just before she offered to go together. She wasn't sure what it was about this guy but she instinctualy liked him, which wasn't what she could say about many other people.
"It's pretty here."
"Yeah, I found this place on my first day here in the city. The one place in the city that you can't tell your in the capital of Wales. The one place where humanity hasn't touched." She grinned at him before adding, "You can probably tell I don't like people much."

"Oh? Then perhaps you'd like a tour guide." Rio offered, picking up a stick and stirring the pond water idly. He grinned mischeviously. "I'm not too well-liked in China though." And that part was true, if only because he was the spawn of his father. He put the stick down and watched a frog on the other side of the pond.
He chuckled softly as she told him about finding the pond. "Yeah, I gathered as much." Rio informed her. He rather liked people when they weren't trying to kill him. Actually, maybe he liked them more when they were chasing him. It gave him something to do. "How long have you been here?"

"Oh? Then perhaps you'd like a tour guide." Rio offered.
"That might be nice actually, I tend to get lost.. a lot." She said with a shy smile. She settled down on the grass right by the edge of the water and twirled her fingers around in the water.
"I'm not too well-liked in China though."
She smirked and met his eyes, "I know exactly what that's like. I would probably be shot on site if I ever went back to London." It was true but not in the same respect because Torchwood One had a lot of allies even after it fell and she was still highly wanted by most of them as well as UNIT.
"How long have you been here?"
"Um, just a few days... I think... I've kind of lost track of time. I was only planning on staying a few days, I have a fr-acquaintance in the city I was planning on meeting up with." She replied.

"Getting lost is half the fun." Rio had an excellent direction, but there were times where Rio would zone out while walking and end up completely... well, lost. "But I can get you there without getting lost." The frog Rio had been watching splashed in the water. He rubbed some of the pond water off of him.
As she spoke about the probability of being shot in London, Rio bit back his questions. She hadn't asked why the Chinese weren't fond of him, so why should he push her into speaking of personal matters? "Perhaps we should put London on our travel itinerary then?" He teased.
"Ah. I lost track of time as well, so don't worry about it." He decided not to question her on her "fr-acquaintance" because he's heard they were personal things. Nieve didn't seem to be the kind to hand out personal information freely.

"Getting lost is half the fun. But I can get you there without getting lost."
"That's exactly what I think. Who needs directions or maps...unless there is a specific destination in mind, then they're nice." She said with a grin. She could remember countless times that she had been aiming to get somewhere and got so lost she never ended up getting there. At his offer she smiled, "That would be good, well, my horrible sense of direction is contagious so it way not succeed. But it's worth a try." She couldn't help but giggle as he was splashed with water.
"Perhaps we should put London on our travel itinerary then?"
She raised an eyebrow, "Just so you know they would probably shoot you to, just cause your with me." She said teasing him back.

He nodded as she proclaimed her dislike for maps and directions. "I carry around a map when I'm sailing. Much as I like water, I'm not particularly fond of being stranded in the middle of the ocean." He shrugged.
"Will they? At least it will give me something to look forward to." He laughed. "And what, pray tell, did you do to make them go on a homicidal rampage?" It was meant as a light-hearted joke, but Rio's smile flickered into a neutral line. "You don't have to answer that."

"I carry around a map when I'm sailing. Much as I like water, I'm not particularly fond of being stranded in the middle of the ocean."
She grimaced, "Yeah I don't think that would be very enjoyable. I've never spent much time on a boat. Actually I think the only time I've been on a boat was when I was six and road in a row boat." She chuckled before adding, "That's probably not the type of boat you use for travel."
"And what, pray tell, did you do to make them go on a homicidal rampage? You don't have to answer that."
She felt the conversation turn serious. She didn't really want to answer but she felt she had to even though he had said she didn't. So she decided to over simplify her situation to see if he would accept that as an answer. So she told him, "I'm different from them and it scares them. People never like the things they can't understand." She also added in a more whimsical tone, "I broke a few of their toys too. They weren't too happy about that.

"I think I've spent half my life on boats." Rio's gaze shifted as he saw the shadow of the frog under the water. He scooped his hands in the water and lifted them. A small tadpole got lifted out of the water as he did, and swam around in circles. "No. I don't generally use row boats, although using one to cross the Atlantic suddenly sounds quite nice." He teased, and let the water spill out of his fingers.
As she answered his question he sighed. He was a human (okay, he was half human) but he would never understand why people treated each other so terribly. "Things I can't understand fascinate me." And, considering Rio's lack of knowledge in most subjects, everything fascinated him. His curiosity may have lead to Rio being an intellectual person if his father had taught him how to read in a language other than French.

"No. I don't generally use row boats, although using one to cross the Atlantic suddenly sounds quite nice."
She grinned, "Sorry to disappoint you but that's not how I got here. I flew. Though a row boat would have been the better choice, I realise now." Well it wasn't a lie. She did fly, she just wasn't on a plane when she did it. She had her own method of travel, much faster than a plane or boat.
"Things I can't understand fascinate me."
She smiled warmly at him, "I feel the same way. It also makes travelling twice as much fun because most of the time I get to see things most people don't or I see things in a different way which makes them more interesting. Things most people don't understand are usually twice as beautiful because they haven't been altered or ruined."

She flew? For a moment he imagined her flapping her arms across the English Channel and landing in Wales. Then the more rational side of his brain kicked him and reminded him that humans have a nifty little invention called airplanes. "I wonder what it's like to fly so high." Rio glanced up at the sky. He knew that he could never travel comfortably on an airplane. The lack of places to go would terrify him. Boats were pushing it as it was.
"Yes. I like the feeling I get where I land somewhere completely new." He said softly. "Besides Colorado, what other place have you enjoyed?" Rio asked curiously.
