It had been 6 years since Jack had stepped foot on Earth. He had left to get over Ianto's death and Steven's sacrifice but it didn't really work. He knew that he was needed back on Earth because even if his life wasn't going so well didn't mean that the Earth no longer needed a protector and the Doctor couldn't always be there. So he returned. It took a lot of work and some favours from the Queen but he rebuilt the Hub. The next step to bring Torchwood back was getting a team. He had talked to Gwen and Rhys but they were happily married with two children and no longer wanted to live life dangerously. So he started from scratch just like he had when he first took over Torchwood in 2000. He began searching for a team.
*OOC- Anyone that is interested in being part of the new Torchwood team should pm me and include info about their character and how they meet Jack*

Bryan Wilkeson ran his gloved hand through his ghost white hair as he waited for his coffee to-go. He knew he was going to be late, but frankly, he didn't care. It was a sucky job anyway, with equally sucky pay. But it seemed to be the only place he could find that was hiring that wouldn't make him dye his hair and take off his gloves. He had tried to dye his hair from its original color, but it didn't work out so well, and he couldn't take his gloves off without causing too much of an uproar. He honestly couldn't help being amused at how dead wrong his boss was about what he thought was out there in the universe, however little of it he had seen himself, but he couldn't put him straight without getting fired, and that would put him with exactly squat. It would have been different if it wasn't for the Battle of Canary Wharf or the accident.
He was broken from his internal monologue when he heard his order come up. Straight black coffee, no sugar, no creamer or milk, just straight bitter caffeinated coffee, however much he knew it would dehydrate him later on.

"That's a real man's kind of coffee. Maybe not the best tasting, here, but..." Jack sat down on the stool at the counter and gave the man his classic Harkness grin before putting his hand out, "Captain Jack Harkness."

Bryan looked at Jack and shook his hand. Both of his hands covered by black fingerless gloves. "Bryan Wilkeson, and I'm about to be late for work, so I really don't have too much time for talk." He started for the door.

He gave Bryan another Harkness grin, "Guess I'll see you tomorrow, Bryan."

"Yeah... Sure..." Bryan said as he headed out the door from this complete stranger.
About five minutes later, he arrived at work, The Green Eye video store. It specialized in science fiction and was privately owned so it allowed for Bryan's needs for non-uniform. He clocked in and started putting back some of the returned videos on the shelf.

Rio peeked around the corner cautiously. There had been some weird growly freakazoidial creature following him. With sharp teeth. The man was pretty well-traveled, but he had never seen something so intriguingly disgusting - and he had been to Russia. The creature looked almost human - well, if said human had been to the tanning bed too often and therefore had a scrunched up ugly face. But Rio had noticed something in the creature's eye - something human.
So he had ran, one of the things he was skilled at. It wasn't as though he had a home to return to. Rio was a restless wanderer, and being domestic didn't suit him. But then he really couldn't find anything that he could help with. Europe kept it's troubles quiet, and how could he help something that he barely knew existed? Yes, he did like Africa better than Europe. So much more to do than just sit around and sit with the tea-stained minds of the British. Rio giggled at his own private joke.
Around the corner was a slightly familiar head of pale white hair. Rio had been following Bryan - albeit sometimes by mistake - for about a week. Rio glanced behind for signs of the creature and, finding none, walked closer to the store that the man had entered. He wasn't too sure if it was open or not, so he walked in awkwardly. Rio rarely had any sort of money on him, so he wasn't accustomed to the etiquette of video stores. He didn't even have a home, so how would he watch videos? He smiled at the thought.
Scanning around his eyes fell on movie covers displaying robots and blob-monsters and the man with the white hair. "Hello!" He said cheerfully, making sure to keep his French accent thick. That way if the man accused him of being a stalker Rio could insist that he was unaccustomed to the way of the British. And some other lame excuse that popped into the man's head. He rocked on his heels lightly and grinned widely. "Sorry if I am not to be in here at the moment." The vagabond tilted his head innocently.
He wasn't too sure if he would be kicked out for not having money. In his defense, he didn't look like such a homeless man. His face was a little dirty, and his white shirt was a bit more gray than anything. And his bag was full of random patches from the many times he's ripped the poor thing. He still needed to mend it - that creature ( a weevil ) had attempted to take a chunk out of Rio's neck and Rio, in a panic, had raised his pack to defend himself.
"This is a nice video store," He commented, his accent slipping into his normal light French accent.
ooc; Rio isn't too fond of the Russians. :]

Bryan shrugged, not even looking up at him as he put videos back. "We are open, so it shouldn't be a problem. You looking for anything in particular, or just roaming?" The place wasn't really all that busy, which he wasn't surprised about, they never really got many customers to be with.

"Roaming." Rio replied, scanning the shelves for something that would hypothetically interest him. He was always roaming. Roaming Rio. Truth be told he really wasn't sure why he was prolonging the visit. It was going to be pretty obvious that he didn't have money when the time came. It would have been so much easier if this was a bookstore. He could then just skim through pages. But the only thing he had to go on with movies was the covers. He couldn't read English - roaming about all one's life lead to illiteracy. At least he could read French, but he highly doubted that such a small store would hold French movies.
He picked up a movie with some weird alien on the front and smiled. "You think the aliens from out there look so disgusting?" Rio glanced up at the man who appeared so disinterested. He knew it might seem like a strange question to ask a stranger, but Rio figured that he was already following the man around. He couldn't get much creepier. He sat down on the floor behind a shelf to take a look at more movies. And to hide from the man with the white hair. What if he was recognized? He doubted it. The few times that they had spoke was mainly just Rio mumbling apologies for running into Bryan.

"No, I don't think so," Bryan said as he worked. Then he realised that he recognised this man's voice. "Wait a-" He looked up and around, but didn't see him. He sighed frustratedly. He really hated the fact that he seemed to disappear like that right when he was about to confront him.

Rio giggled. The man with the white hair sounded so frustrated. It was very amusing. He wondered if perhaps he should pop up somewhere. "I don't think so either." At least the man hadn't gotten too weirded out at the question. Of course he didn't seem very interested in conversation. Which was a pity considering Rio's loquacious nature. This man seemed to recognize his voice. He thought it was pretty strange since he had never thought of his voice as memorable. Maybe the man had excellent auditory memory. "I bet aliens think we're the ugly ones. You think we're the only species to use the word aliens? Because you know, we must be alien to someone."
Such deep thinking and it was so early in the morning. Rio poked his head up from behind a shelf so that only the top half of his face showed and he lifted up his hand to wave merrily. He wasn't quite sure what to say, so he just stood up fully. What did stalkers say when approaching their... stalkees? "I haven't been following you. If you're wondering. Not saying you are. Just saying that... you know. I haven't." His accent was rather thick at the moment, and he wondered if the man could even understand him. Even with Rio's illegal past he was still a terrible liar. He smiled amicably, trying to lessen his rather creepy statement.

"Yeah, bit of a general term," Bryan said when he heard him. Then he saw him pop up. "And if you're not following me here then why are you hiding from me? What do you want? Who are you working for?" The last two questions were whispered. He could be from UNIT, or even worse, Torchwood.

He tilted his head curiously. Was this man a criminal? Is that why he dropped his voice and sounded... anxious? Rio knew all about having the law on his tail. Of course, he had shaken most of the officials off in Italy. "I just wanted to talk." The boy put his chin on the top of the shelf and pouted. Who was this guy? Maybe he was a criminal overlord! Or maybe he, like any normal person, was wary of the guy practically admitting to stalking him. "Uhm, I was hiding from you because... I don't know. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Wait! Who said I was hiding from you?" Rio backtracked, his face flushing with the embarrassment of being outwitted, even if it was unintentional. "I was just looking at movies. In a movie store. With aliens." He meant that the aliens were in the movies, but he was getting too flustered to speak properly.
Rio bit his lip to keep from embarrassing himself further and thought over the last question. He never worked for anybody. He hated the limitations that came with jobs. Besides, 'job' would imply that he stayed around in one place long enough. Rio hated seeing the same place for more than a month unless he was actively trying to help. "I don't work for anybody! You in trouble or something?"[/size]

Jack entered the new Hub. He didn't like it. It was to clean and it lacked the memories that made it the Hub. He moved to the computer and entered the name, Bryan Wilkeson. He waited for the results come up. He was shocked by what he found...

Bryan watched this man carefully. He seemed too uptight for his taste, he couldn't have been just wanting to talk. He had to be after him. "Looking at movies. Beg your pardon, but you don't look like one who would carry money, let alone look at the movies on that shelf, new releases. And last I checked none of the ones new releases we have have aliens in them." He froze a bit. Maybe this guy was just a normal stalker. He had to admit that he was surprised to have a normal human stalker, especially a guy. "Listen, I have to work."
