"Not the most effective action you could have taken,Doctor!",shouted James. He took the blaster, dodged a blast from an opponent and then shot him right in the chest. His enemy fell on his back. Then,he blasted the second opponent as he was targeting the Doctor.
The Toymaker watched impressed from above. This human was amazing! He was eager to battle and survive. He seemed to love it!He always loved humans, even though he would never accept it.They loved to play games so much!He saw the one opponent staggering and falling because of James' blasts. Then the other. Now was time for the hardest of challenges. "Firstly, you fought a robotic opponent in different arenas. Then, you fought my best champions. But now you shall face the most difficult of challenges. You will once more battle for your life, but now you will battle each other!" "No,no,no,no.I will never do this.I can't ever kill the Doctor!",shouted James in despair and unbelief. "You really have no choice. If you don't fight each other, you will instantly die. Both of you.You can either both commit suicide or save the one of you at least. You have two minutes to discuss. Then the game begins!" "We have a problem here,Doctor. But I have the perfect solution. You will blast me,I will die,you will live.Do you agree?"

The Doctor watched as James polished off the two opponents. Even though humans were his favorite species they still could be so quick to kill, to destroy. "When will they ever learn?" he murmured to himself.
Aloud he gave a loud snort. "Now really, Toyman. How long would such a 'game' as that would be? Not enough for you to even enjoy it. I thought you were a bit more imaginative than that. You seem to have lost your touch in the past centuries. Gone soft."
As he spoke he returned to James and stood by him. He looked sadly at the remains of the aliens, twisted and still smoking. "There's a better way, you know" he said softly. "There's always a better way and I'm not about to start blasting anybody."

(I think I'm going to take the story to an upper, universal in fact, level.Tell me what you think.) "Then how are we supposed to survive?Unless...of course! He must be bluffing!Would you willingly destroy your playthings Toymaker?" "I would gladly!",declared the Toymaker, but with an obvious bit of uncertainty. "Alright then. Now Doctor it's about time I told you why you're here. The universe is crumbling and falling apart. All six of the Guardians have lost a big part of our powers.Something huge is coming.Something too powerful.Something way too powerful.AND WE NEED YOUR HELP.",he said with a changed voice, full of obvious power.Five more men appeared next to him.One was dressed in black, one in white, one in azure, one in gold and one in red.The Six Guardians of Time. "WE NEED YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP,DOCTOR.FOR THIS UNIVERSE IS IN GRAVE DANGER.WE ARE BEING DRAINED OF POWER.WE ARE WEAKENED AND DYING.ETERNALS AND CHRONOVORES ARE BEING DRAINED DRY OF POWER EVERY MINUTE.AND ONLY YOU CAN HELP US.ONLY YOU.WILL YOU HELP US,DOCTOR?ANSWER NOW!FOR THE SAKE OF THE UNIVERSE!"

(Up the ante? heh, why not? I modified my last post, too many 'sadlys' in it. Bad writing!) To say the Doctor had been taken completely by surprise would be an understatement. He stepped back and for a moment was quite speechless. To have the Toymaker ask for his help wasn't quite what he had expected. And to have the Guardians show up as well! "You keep rather starnge company, Toymaker. And you Guardians need my help..again? Rather careless of you, to misplace the Key of Time after I went through all of that trouble to find it for you. What happened, you left it behind on a subway seat?" The Time Lord sounded flippant but his mind was whirling. All these practiallly mythical creatures once again asking for his assistance, it was a bit hard to take. The Toymaker sighed and sat back, folding his arms within his robe. "There's no need to attempt to be condescending to us, Doctor. We are in dire straits after all." "If you needed my help then why all this?" The Doctor waved his arms about. "Why send something to possess James? And the battles? A postcard would have been a better invitation!" "But that wouldn't be any fun! The Guardians were gracious enough to allow me to set the lure for you. They've worked with you before and we all know how you would refuse an outright request but cannot resist a mystery. Simple, really." The purring tone did not help sooth the Doctor's temper and he strode up to the imposing figure. Standing at the foot of the huge chair he stared up defiantly. "I refuse to be manipulated like this! I refused to be the pawn of the Time Lords and I refuse to be a pawn here as well!" "NOT EVEN TO PRESERVE THE COSMOS, DOCTOR?" one of the Guardians put in. Since none of them voiced in the usual manner it was hard to tell just which one spoke. Their faces could have been carved in granite. "AFTER ALL, IF WE PERISH, SO WILL ALL LIFE ON ALL PLANETS." The Doctor was practically grinding his teeth in fury. Once agasin he was being used as a tool, cajoled into a situation that could very well threaten his life. Will he never be free of this? With a great effort he calmed himself. He took a deep breath, straightened his cravat and stared up into the faces of the most powerful beings he had ever known. "Oh very well. When did all of this start?"

(Am I making it a bit too cliche?I always wanted to use them! ;D)
"THE KEY TO TIME HAS BEEN STOLEN.ITS CREATORS,THE GRACE,HAVE BEEN ANNIHILATED.SOME OF THE GREATEST TIME ACTIVE RACES OF THE UNIVERSE,SUCH AS THE NIMON AND THE DAEMONS,ARE TERMINATED EVERY SECOND.THE GREATEST FORCE OF THE UNIVERSE HOLDS THE POWER OF THE KEY TO TIME.THEY ARE DRAINING OUR POWER THROUGH IT EVERY MINUTE.WE CANNOT FIGHT THEM.NOBODY CAN FIGHT THEM.EVEN THE TIME LORDS ARE DUBIOUS NOW.IT SEEMS THAT ONLY YOU DOCTOR HAVE THE POWER TO RESCUE THE UNIVERSE AND EVEN THE WHOLE MULTIVERSE.WE'RE SORRY.BUT YOU MUST." "And who exactly is the greatest force of the universe?Who is that powerful?",asked James. "OH,BUT THE DOCTOR KNOWS OF THEM.TOO GOOD.THEY ARE THE MOST TERRIBLE AND ABOMINATIVE AND POWERFUL AND BLASPHEMOUS AND IMMORAL AND EVIL AND GENIUS CREATIONS.THEIR NAME IS...THE DALEKS!"

(Isn't the whole point of Doctor Who is to be cliche? ) "The Daleks." The Doctor closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose as if he had been struck by a sudden powerful headache. "Why am I not surprised? That lot is like a nest of cockroaches. You think you've stamped them out and they go and pop up somewhere else instead. And, let me guess, Davros is behind all of this." "THE DALEK CREATOR CANNOT BE LOCATED AT THIS TIME. ALL WE CAN TELL YOU IS THAT THIS BARRAGE OF DALEKS IS FAR DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS." came a voice from another Guardian. "What? Different in what way?" "THAT CANNOT BE DECIPHERED." "Great, you are a lot of help," the Doctor muttered. "What use of being a Guardian when all you can do is spout riddles and nonsense. Very well, let's go, James!"

"First you'll answer some questions,Doctor.Who are these Guardians of Time?Who are the Daleks? What is the Key to Time? And if these bloody Guardians can't defeat the Daleks, then how can you?Who is Davros? And what are we going to do in order to defeat the Daleks?Answer,Doctor!",said James completely confused and furious."Now!".

"All in good time, James, all in good time. Of course you don't have to come along if you don't want to, I can easily drop you back on Earth." The Doctor stuck his hands in his pockets as he strode off, deep in thought. "The Daleks are just about the most detestable life form ever created, Davros is the creator of same, back on planet Skaros when it was a planet. Their only goal is total and complete rule over anything and everything they come in contact with, real bad tunnel-vision in that respect. As for the Guardians, as you may have noticed they never seem to answer a direct question if they can help it. Devious lot."
He paused to get his key out of his pocket. "Strange they didn't rise to the bait about the Key to Time. I would have thought to get at least a nibble, seeing how it was me who ended up destroying the thing. But a power based on that Key? How can it be concentrated, without the Key as a base? Hmmmm. Very interesting indeed."
Entering the TARDIS he made his way straight to the console. "Let's see now, I suppose there could be a bit of a power trace left in the Chaos Pool, or was someone trying to create a new one altogether?"

(Sorry,running out of ideas!)
James was still thinking all the stuff the Doctor told him.Strange indeed! But a relatively logical explanation. "So,where are we going now?Stop talking nonsense, start explaining! And don't even think of taking me to Earth!I came here to have an adventure and I guess that's what we're going for. What is the Chaos Pool? And will you at last explain what the Key To Time is?"

"The Key to Time," For a moment the Doctor paused, running the memories of the object through his mind. "Let's just say it's something that I had thought I had destroyed. I suppose I should have known better, if such a thing can survive super novas and centuries of being in pieces, one little dip in the Chaos Pool shouldn't have phased it. Don't worry, the Chaos Pool isn't on Earth, it's......it's a bit further than that."
He entered the information he sought in the keyboard of the TARDIS data banks and studied the results that came up. "Now this is odd. There is nothing on the Chaos Pool now, but there should be. Something like that couldn't simply vanish. At least, I think it couldn't."

(I'll have him possessed again!)
"Well,Doctor, did you expect to locate the Key to Time and the Chaos Pool without a tracer?",said James suddenly. "I think I was sent by someone to help you locate the Chaos Pool, again. My name is Zara.Do you remember me,Doctor?" She,or rather he,walked up to the console and hugged the Doctor. "Remember that? You taught me what a hug is.Back on planet Chaos. Now,you must touch down on the planet Norma V,in the Tubula Cluster.I'm there with my sister,Amy.Do you remember her?Right now,I'm projecting my consciousness through this human because I couldn't transport us on this time machine with my Time Ring. This is getting really tiring, you know, your companion pushes me out. Now,materialise!See you on Norma V!",Zara said through James, and she was gone. "Bloody hell,Doctor! This is getting irritating!Possessing is over! Now go to that blasted planet!",shouted James infuriated and waited for the Doctor to act.

The Doctor peered at him, a troubled look on his face. "Well now, that's interesting. Odd they decide to choose that method of communication. Wouldn't a quick text be better?"
He stood with his hand over the TARDIS controls, considering. "Could this be a trap, I wonder? The Toyman does like to lead his subjects around by the nose just to have the fun of watching them bump into the maze walls. But if it isn't? If it's true directions we could be wasting valuable time looking for the Chaos Pool when we could have used this more direct route. Which is it, I wonder?"
He looked down at the controls again, biting his lower lip in concentration, then with a sudden movement keyed in the co-ordinates, giving James a sideways grin. "But then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained!"
The TARDIS gave a slight lurch which the Doctor pretended not to notice. He continued in a more conversational tone. "Yes, possession can certainly be a pain at times. One does prefer to keep control over one's own body!"

(hmmm...wondering how I might be able to get into this one....was going to have Tyler a prisoner by the Toymaker....but I see that the plot quickly veered from that.....)
Tylerhathan stood still on a ship. As far as he knew, he hadn't been detected yet. Something was off, and he knew it. He had landed on the ship a little before the Doctor had. He had missed seeing his son, as he'd been inspecting a room full of equipment when the fighting was taking place. Still, he was determined to find out what was happening on this ship. His own TARDIS had detected that it appeared to be empty, but he didn't believe it.

(Welcome to the thread! ;D Did you like our story?)
The TARDIS had just landed. "So this is Norma something, right? You know what,we must be on a ship of some sort.I feel a slight movement. Now,let's go and meet your two friends, shall we?",said James and, without expecting an answer, walked towards the door.He opened it and peered outside. Then he exited the ship. "Uh,Doctor, come over here, will you?We have some company."

(I like it, but I think parts of it have been a bit rushed and confusing/unclear. Sorry, I was probably a bit unclear - I meant for Tylerhathan to have landed on the ship that the Doctor was just on...the one where they had encountered the Celestrial Toy Maker)
Tylerhathan had assumed that his son had taken off in his TARDIS already, and was completely unaware of the fact that that TARDIS had not left yet. Completely certain that something was amiss about the situation, Tylerhathan removed his sonic device in order to search the computer records for information.
Whose ship was this? And why did the ship seem so quiet?
