She watched in avid curiosity as Bryan used his complications device to call a taxi cab and tried not to look too excited about the prospect of being transported by a alien transportation mechanism. Jenny really didn’t understand half of what the General and Bryan were taking about. Props, sci-fi film, and she was taken aback by the sounds of the laughter coming from his telephone. “Humans, what’s not to love?” She murmured aloud with a faint grin.

Bryan smiled faintly. "I suppose I just made her week." He put the phone back to his ear. "Yes, Miss, I'm very serious. Thank you." He gave her the closest address, then told her to put the bill on Torchwood's tab.

"So, what position do you hold at Torchwood?" The General said to Bryan. "Jenny, what relationship did you have with the Doctor?" He said curiously.

Jenny shifted from foot to foot waiting for the taxi with growing excitement. There were many relationships that she had with the Doctor. He was a teacher, a student, he showed her encouragement, and tried to teach her right from wrong. But all of these things came down to one thing. Her face lit-up at the sound of his name. She turned her head and looked directly at the General. A radiant happiness playing within her eyes. “He’s my dad,” she said in a cheery voice.

The General turned around to look at Jenny, 'bout time he had another child, then again, I remember the last one... "Who's your mother?" He said exitedly to her.

Her face almost instantly took on an odd quality; it was the face of ne who did not want to approach that subject. “I… it… um… That is a hard one to explain… I don’t… have a mom,” Her face flushed slightly. She quickly looked away and began pacing. Seemingly unable to stay still for too long; and while she paced she thought. If she was to choose a mother it would be Donna. She was the only person who even remotely filled that role. She had named her, had discovered that she wasn’t a human, and had argued with her father concerning her on her behalf.

"Where are you from....?" He said to the pacing Jenny. Must be a progenitor child, oh Doc, how do you get yourself into these things...

"I'm a tech person and gunman," Bryan finally answered as he hung up. "Of course, everyone pretty much has to learn how to handle a gun, so it's not much to say I'm a gunman." He put his phone away. "So, no mother, so what's a progenitor?"

((Scarlett, i'm assuming you know that Italics = Thoughts here.))
The General looked towards Bryan, Well well, look who's reading minds He sent to him.
"A Progenitor, is a way to reproduce, it takes a skin sample of a creature, extracts it's diploid cells, splits them into haploids and produces a titular being, in this case, Jenny, some are modifying to implant certain things in the being's mind, such as basic combat skills, used in The Seven Day War, apparently it was caused over an argument over a game of cards, but that's beside the point, basically, it reproduces creatures in a cheap and quick fashion." He said to the curious Bryan

Jenny stopped pacing suddenly. A look crossed her face that looked less then pleased. Once again someone was talking about her as if she were a lesser life form. “I am from Messaline,” she said her voice turning stony as she glanced at them indignantly. “When the average life expectancy of an entire generation of humans is little over an hour people will do what they must to survive.” She said, finally turning from them with her arms crossing. Was it her fault that her fathers DNA had been taken at gunpoint? Was it her fault that she was born fully grown into a world converged upon by a frantic and deadly war that had raged for countless generations? Was it her fault that the war, in the end had turned out to be nothing but a waste of life and that it should never have gotten out of control? NO! And… what is a card game? She wondered briefly.

(Okay, so he had a sudden temporary telepathic spike)
"Oh," Bryan said. Had he just really heard the General's thoughts? He could have sworn it sounded like it was spoken. Was there something his dad didn't tell him about his species? Nah, that couldn't be right.

"Wait, you're not human?" He said out loud, Ughhh, gotta remember to stop doing that. "What are you then? Don't worry, we're all aliens here." He asked in curiosity.

Jenny looked on in puzzlement. For a human planet there seemed to be a great lack in humans and Jenny couldn’t understand why. Was this place an extra-terrestrial magnet that just collected alien life? It was turning out to be an odd place. She frowned, “You both can read minds?”

(Also one question: How does this thread relate to the others, is it set a few years after Torchwood Next-Gen IC, or what's goin on?)
"Well, I can, dunno about him, might of been a telepathic SPIKE!" He said, "of course, if he can read minds, there must be some sort of telepathic booster, and the only thing that has any telepathic boosting capabilities anywhere around here is.... The Rift! Of course, i'm assuming you know about that Bryan, probably in your training video, even the lowest Torchwood operatives are taught about that, probably even the cleaners, hmmm obviously hasn't cracked enough to show, oh Jenny, ummm the Rift, is a sort of, well, it's hard to explain verbally, i'll use an example" He took out an A4 sheet of paper and folded it around into a cylindrical shape, "Inside this cylinder, is the Time Vortex, what advanced species use to time travel, and outside, everything in this universe that ever existed, is existing, and that will exist, now, the hardest part of time travel, is penetrating the wall of the Vortex, and a rift," He said stabbing a hole in two sides opposite to each other in the paper with a pocketknife, "breaks the wall, so now, any species that has means of surviving the vortex, can now enter from one side to the other," He said putting his finger through one hole in the paper and out the other.

(I am not completely sure)
Bryan listened to them, especially to the General's explanation of the Rift. "Yeah, you're right. I don't know about that telepathy thing. I haven't been able to read minds before. Oh, and yeah, I'm half-Kriterian." He started to take off his gloves to reveal his webbed hands.
