London 1941: My name is Izzy Smith. while most kids runaway to New York I ran away into the past. When Jack first met me, it was in the days before he knew the doctor. However I had known him intimately for years... it was mostly a mistake on my part. my vortex manipulator was malfunctioning. I had expected to come out the other side in the coat room of the plaza hotel in 1966. instead i found myself in the middle of a war zone. I appeared just as a bomb from overhead was dropped on the very street i appeared. the bomb blew out the windows of stores sending glass flying threw the air. cutting my face a bit. I was lucky enough to outrun the blast. I deiced to break into an electronic store so i could find some tools to try and repair my vortex manipulator. until I figured out what was wrong with it i was stuck in the London blitz. "darn, my new outfit is ruined, stupid Nazis." I said as i began to bandage up my cuts and bruises with a red cross bag that i took off one of the soldiers. Okay, i was stranded in the middle of the London blitz with a malfunctioning vortex manipulator. right now I needed to find some tools to try and repair it before I tried another jump. in defeat I sat down on the sidewalk placing a cigerett in my mouth. I reached into the bag desperately searching for a lighter or some matches. "come on there has gotta be some matches in here somewhere."

It was another one of those lovely nights out. One of those nights where nobody bothered asking the famous captain Jack Harkness for his name or job. One of those lovely nights where he could do with just a drink and some company.
However, during the London blitz these nights were often interrupted by airraides. Which weren't the ideal circumstances to get to know people better. It seemed though, as the familiar alarm once again went off, people actually needed him.
Jack followed his colleagues out of the bar with a toothy grin on his face. Traces of the last joke still on his lips before a bomb dropped very nearby. It was as if the happy evening was shattered along with the glass windows in the street, the loud bang deafening him for a short moment as he jumped for cover, pulling his 'friend' to the floor with him.
The moment silence filled the street again the ex-time agent glanced up from his comfortable spot (lying half across his colleague) and he spotted someone on the sidewalk. Someone who was looking both out of time and gorgeous. "You alright" he mumbled to his friend before pulling him up "Get back to HQ..I'll meet you there" he gave him a reassuring smile before turning around.
He couldn't leave a lonely person out on the streets now could he?
Jack walked up to this 'gorgeous' stranger without a single hint of doubt or shame in his face. The dust rolling off his military uniform as he moved over. It seemed this stranger was in need for some fire, and he had all the intentions to give it to him.
The captain casually pulled a lighter from his inner pocket before flipping it open. The familiar click accompanied by a flame. "I'd love to say it isn't safe out here...but judging by your techy bracelet I say you know this already" he grinned, leaning closer to hand the gorgeous stranger the lighter.
Jack had no idea he was talking to someone who already knew him.

Izzy saw the lighter dangling in front of his face. when he heard that familiar voice he looked up and smiled.
"Jack!" he said ecstatically as he jumped up wrapping his arms around him, hugging him tightly. Their he was, Izzy's night in shining armor always there to catch him when he fell. "Oh god its so good to see you, where are we?"
"Have we done Casablanca yet? Or how about that week we spent on the set of from here to eternity with Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra. that reminds me I'm still mad at you!" he asked referring to something that they had done in the past. of course he was not aware that this jack had never met him before.
"Oh god your poor coat, look its all covered in dust and debris "
Izzy knew how fond jack was of that coat. sometime he got so jealous at the attention it got over him. he tried to help clean it as he listened to what jack had to say...

Well he never knew someone could be so grateful for a simple gesture like that. But Jack was never getting rid of that lighter again. The expected warmth coming way to fast as the stranger flung himself around him.
"W-well" Jack managed to make out, a huge flirty grin on his face. He was about to say something about the sudden hug when he heard the next piece of information.
They had met before? They had met Frank Sinatra!? And more importantly, this man was mad at him? Not something completely new for the flirtatious captain. But certainly new that he didn't know of anything.
He gave his coat a quick glance, a slight smile on his face before he looked back up at the stranger. "I think the coat will live..." who was this man? And why couldn't Jack remember him? Was he a time agent? Someone he met in those lost two years? "Now...why don't I remember such a gorgeous face?"
His blue eyes were full of questions, and yet he couldn't find any kind of answer.

"Now why cant i remember such a gorgeous face?" asked Jack.
Izzy's eyes widened in horror. it was at this point that he realized something was wrong. "Jack, Please tell me that you know who I am...!"
He waited to hear what jack had to say. but he already knew the answer. this was the day when Jack first met him. back in the days before he even met the doctor and Rose.
he let go of him and took a few steps back looking him over. yes he had that look about him. that look River once told him about. for Izzy it was like looking at a photograph of someone that was taken years before you knew them. the man standing before him was not his Jack. but he knew one day he would be....

It seemed his question had rattled the man more than Jack had expected to do. He really shouldn't forget about people anymore, or maybe he should meet them earlier? "Well, I think I would remember you" he smiled a bit sheepish before his curious but also serious self came to the surface.
"So, are you from two years back? Or haven't I met you yet?" It was almost sad to see the other step back, the welcome warmth already leaving his fingertips as the stranger took his distance.

"No your right, you haven't met me yet. I cant tell you anymore. not even my name. it might change things in our future." explained Izzy. he made his way back to the curb picking up his old army bag. it was an old green bag that looked vintage from around this period. he never went anywhere without it or his diary and other assorted mementos that he always carried with him. "Look, could you help me fix my vortex manipulator?" asked Izzy who wanted to get out of here before he altered the past too much. "after all you used to be a time agent. you should know how these things work."

So, this lovely stranger was someone from the future? It was nice to hear that he had a future, but he wouldn't have it run off on him just like that.
The captain followed right after the male, flinging his arm around him before glancing at the busted device. "Yes...I believe I used to be a time agent...but then again" he smiled, gently taking Izzy's wrist in his hand as if he were 'examining' the broken device. "Maybe you're not one of my friends in the future..."
How could he know? This man was mad at him for something. Maybe Jack shouldn't help him at all. Even if he tried, he didn't know if he could fix the bloody thing anyway. When broke, they were rather unreliable.

"I should have known you were going to be difficult. you alway's were in these early days." Said Izzy to himself trying to think of a way to get jack to trust him.
then like lightening it came to him.
He looked into Jack's eyes and said with a serious tone of voice. "Jack, someday I'm gonna be someone you trust completely. But i just can't wait for you to find that out. so I'm gonna tell you something. and after I said it I need you to help me fix my vortex manipulator so I can get home."
Izzy Leaned in very close whispering something into Jack's ear.
It was his name. because unlike most people Izzy knew Jack's real name. the one his parents had given him when he was a boy growing up on the Boeshane Peninsula in the 50th century. Jack had never told anyone his real name before. and Izzy Knew it. somehow he knew it....
"Jack, are we good?"

When the welcome stranger leaned in close, Jack hadn't expected his reaction to be this. All of these emotions rushing to the surface by a single name. Shock, fear, grief, anger, confusion, everything at once.
His blue eyes were filled with shock as the other backed up, his complete body frozen on the spot. "How do you know that?..." Jack was doing his very best to hide everything of the past. Every single piece of it had to stay buried underneath his new memories.
Why would he ever give something like that to anyone? Fixing that broken vortex manipulator wasn't on his to-do list yet. He needed to know.
"Why would I tell you?" Was he just going to give such a big piece of himself to a warm stranger? Just like that? He'd have to trust him..or maybe this man stole it from him. Either way, Jack couldn't stop himself from asking.

"Look Jack I told you that because you told me I would need to know that one day..." said Izzy. he wanted to tell him so badly. but he couldn't jack had told him never to tell his younger self about future event's in his own timeline. if he did it could keep him from meeting him in the future. and he wouldn't changes those times, not one moment.
"Look i cant tell you anything more. Here's my vortex manipulator. the sooner you fix it the sooner i can get out of here. You know I was aiming for the Waldorf in 1966. I was gonna crash Truman Captoe's Black and white ball." Said Izzy handing his vortex manipulator over to jack so he could get a better look at it.

It seemed this night was heading to be one of the nights Jack would never forget. Meeting a complete stranger from the future during the London Blitz. It did have a nice ring to it.
His blue eyes stayed fixed on the stranger as he spoke. Jack wasn't completely sure about him, but he wouldn't be getting anymore information out of him like this. "Give me five minutes..." he cautiously took the manipulator from the other his hands before dissappearing from sight.
Jack appeared once again, safe in his hidden space ship. Already working on the teleportation of the welcome stranger as he got there. After four minutes or so he managed to get a lock on Izzy and teleport him into the confined spaces of the ship. "Well, take a seat, have a drink" he flashed him a smile before laying the device of Izzy down on a scanner "I'll see if I can fix it"

Izzy stood for a moment marveling at the ship. "Oh so this is your old ship. color me impressed." said izzy as he began looking around with wide eyed curiosity.
"Well, take a seat, have a drink" he flashed him a smile before laying the device of Izzy down on a scanner "I'll see if I can fix it" said jack
"Sure don't mind if I do. computer initiate emergency protocol 417" said izzy as a martini apperaed out of thin air. that was the number that jack useually chose to order drinks out of the replicator. of course Izzy was unaware that jack had just written that program a few days ago. "How about some Glen Miller..." said Izzy flurting with Jack

It was a little odd so have someone in his ship. But seeing this stranger knew so much about him, Jack knew he wouldn't scare him.
"Oh so this is your old ship. color me impressed."
It seemed this stranger wasn't kidding about the future. But the words 'old ship' gave him at least something he could guess about. "Old ship? Why do I also have a new ship?" He grinned, fiddling with the scan results before actually starting to work on the vortex manipulator.
His attention however was drawn away by the next chosen words. "How about some Glen Miller..." When Jack turned his head he could see a very flirty smile on the other his face. And Jack reconized those smiles everywhere. Sometimes he thought he was actually the inventer of those smiles.
"You don't want me to hurry up with your way out then?" He teased back. Giving the stranger one of his own flirty smiles.

"old ship, why do I also have a new ship?" asked Jack.
"Spoilers!" said Izzy. he had to be very carful about what he said around Jack. if he wasent careful he could alter his past.
"You don't want me to hurry up with your way out then?"
"No, your right Jack. will save the Glen Miller for another time..." Said Izzy Hinting about a future encounter.
as he sat down he took out a picture of he and jack in the future. it was old a wrinkeld but it was one of the few things he always carried with him. he looked aqt the jack in the photo and then looked at the jack sitting across from him and realised that it wasn't his Jack. almost but not quite...
the scan showed that the vortex manipulator that Izzy had was somehow synced with Jack's vortex manipulator. it seemed it was programmed to send out a signal to Jack's every time Izzy was near.
