The Second Doctor's eyebrows drooped disbelievingly. "Facade?"
"You heard correctly." he answered Sarah's question for her. He couldn't help but feel an underlying threat to the nonchalant stranger. He wasn't sure was UNIT was, but he didn't care. "Indeed I shall, o radiant vision. And perhaps, after we clear this up and I complete my work for the day, you will allow me to buy you a drink?"
The Doctor rolled his eyes, but said nothing. He couldn't accuse him of anything, because...well there was nothing to accuse. He just seemed like one to be wary of. The Doctor sighed at his on superficiality. "Say you are part of this 'UNIT' could you give me an exact reason to leave? Why it is so dangerous?"
He flipped out the physic paper. "Chief Inspector Smith. Code name: the Doctor." he rambled off, knowing the paper would oblige.
"Now, I believe I've been trying to tell you what is under the sea for several minutes. A temporal anomaly. Like the ones you hear about in on Aunty Beeb from time to time. Like the one that let the mammoth loose on the M-4. The scientists say they warp space-time, which causes light and such to bend around them."
The Doctor squinted at the man in the boat. "I appreciate a good story as much as the next guy, but could you give me an exact calculation, maybe a speculative algorithm?"
"I don't follow the math, much." Of course not. "But that's probably what happened. One opened under here, while you were looking, and it warped light right around the area."
"Probably." he agreed, "Then again it's probably be something else."
He said something else, but the Doctor wasn't really paying attention. He was having trouble thinking over the sound of Seren ranting and raving.

For the moment, she would have to leave Seren to the Doctor in the light suit, the one who knew Sarah well and and remembered their days together. Something dire was going on with the young woman, but right now someone had to deal with the man in the boat and whatever transpired under the waves. She would back up the little dark crow of a Doctor that she had met briefly on Rassilion in the Death Zone all those years ago. She hoped he would not look at her the way the Doctor's other generation had, seeing her age reflected so clearly in his eyes. It hurt. Was she so different than the girl she'd been? Perhaps so.
It did ease her somewhat that the man in the boat had called her a radiant vision, though she would never admit to such a thing. As for him, she was confused. The late afternoon light had glinted . . .glinted off that badge she had assumed was psychic paper. She'd never remembered psychic paper having that realistic an effect. The name as well was not unfamiliar to her from the Unit rolls. Perhaps he was who he claimed to be.
"He is wrong, or he is lying about what is going on." she said so quietly to the crow of a Doctor that she was almost sub vocalizing. He would hear her anyway.
"I may be a civilian, but I've got better toys than you, Jake. Don't get in over your head on this one, the North Sea is cold and hard to breath." She shouted down to the Unit man. Whomever he was, he intrigued her . "And if we survive this day, I'll take you up on that drink, hopefully sitting somewhere dry. Now, I tell you, there is something under there, " she pointed "- sending signals I that can't-"
She broke off as there was a sudden plume of water West and North of them all by a third of a click. A plume of water as large as Big Ben. Startled, she clung to the Doctor's arm.

Seren whirled on the Doctor talking to her. "Calm down? Calm down..." She said as her breathing picked up. The pain rushed through her as she gripped her chest, her eyes going wide. The voice was whispering more now. It's volume increasing, and dragging through the flash of the pain that rushed through her. Oh goddess, it hurt a lot. She shuddered faintly and shook her head a little.
She looked at the Doctor, then the man in the boat. She felt the change in the boats momentum, and shuddered from head to foot. "What in the name of the..." She stopped as she realized that the rising water was going to be causing issues with the boat. darn, the boat was going to start rolling, or worse. Her hand clutched that watch as she shook her head. What about that man was familiar, she stared across at him, her face screwed up as she shook her head again.
"Oh Goddess..." She said as she shuddered and closed her eyes. Her breath rushed from her as she grabbed the side of the ship. Something was rising up from the deep, and that's when a spindly arm gripped the side of the boat and pulled itself up. Her eyes widened as she stared at the hissing spider woman. "OH HOLY-" She didn't continue talking cause she was too considered with scrambling back and screaming.

The Seventh Doctor raced over Seren and grabs her wrist and hauls her to the ship controls "Get the engine reved up, aim the prow into the wave!" he proceeds to usher everyone into the cabin before securing the door.
"Someone else take the wheel, Seren, open the fob watch. Now, Don't Argue just Open it!"
The Spider lady bangs on the door
"NOW!" The Doctor shouts at the top of his lungs "I don't have time to explain just do it!
He sonics the door to reinforce the lock a bit more
"We don't have much time" he places his hands on her shoulders "Libby please... open the watch"

"I may be a civilian, but I've got better toys than you, Jake. Don't get in over your head on this one, the North Sea is cold and hard to breath."
"Yes, I know!" he shouted back, "That's why I'm trying to get you all to leave!"
Rod and Eye, who was this woman? Almost against his will, he found himself intrigued by her, well, her confidence. And her determination.
"And if we survive this day, I'll take you up on that drink, hopefully sitting somewhere dry. Now, I tell you, there is something under there, " she pointed "- sending signals I that can't-"
"I'll hold you to that," he replied with a grin. "What sort of signals?"
And then, all Hell was unleashed in the North Sea. There was a silent explosion, and water erupted into the sky less than 300 meters away. Jake staggered, trying to maintain his footing as his boat rocked violently in the sudden waves.
And then a hissing spider-centaur-thing, with a torso and face that could be described - charitably, and in a bad light - as female, clambered up onto the deck of the yacht. The older Doctor grabbed the woman in green and pulled her inside the ship, shouting for someone to take the wheel as he did.
"Racnoss..." Jake breathed, disbelief and (he had to be honest) fear in his voice.
This is madness, he thought. I should leave, now.
The Racnoss Warrior hissed and clicked, and went to batter down the door, obviously dismissing the younger Doctor and the intriguing woman.
I owe them nothing. I owe him nothing. I've tried to kill him, multiple times.
He decided.
Action movies teach people to expect absurd things, that one man can do something that requires a team of professional stunt men and multiple angles. That it is possible to accurately aim a handgun while running and jumping. That the human body can rapidly switch from one Olympic-level feat to another without strain or rest.
This is, of course, patently absurd.
Apparently, nobody had ever convinced Jake of this.
In a rapid series of actions, he slung a shoulder rig and a web belt on. With a short running start, he lept from the deck of his own boat to the railing of the yacht - a broad jump of some four meters combined with a two meter high jump - landing there balanced. He had drawn his handgun in mid-leap.
The first three shots were fired as he landed. They missed their mark, only managing to smash chitin around the occipital ridge of the Racnoss' left eye.
Jake did not hesitate. As the shots were fired, as his legs flexed under the impact of landing, before he could begin to lose his balance, he leaned forward and lept.
Three more shots, as the Racnoss Warrior turned her head to look at him. One bullet smashed into the space between her eyes, chipping chitin. Two more hammered into the occipital ridge again.
Jake caught Sarah with his free arm, pushing her to the deck and landing half on top of her, shielding her with his body. Three more shots.
Occipital ridge. Then two square in the left eye. The Warrior screamed like tearing tin as one of the two bullets burrowed straight up the optic foramen into her brain. Unable to escape, the bullet bounced wildly around inside her skull.
"So," Jake said to Sarah, "I know a good restaurant in Skegness. Steak and Stuff. Does an amazing scampi."
Just then, two more Racnoss - one to starboard, the other at the stern - hauled themselves aboard.

The Doctor sighed deeply as Jake ignored his for Sarah. He couldn't say he was surprised- this man seemed more interested in Sarah and them spending quality time than anything else. He probably just wanted them to get back to shore so he could flirt on the way.
And besides that- his thoughts were interrupted by a large, arachnoid emerging from the water and climbing on the boat. Jake jumped to their boat and downed- at least he hoped -the Racnoss. Two more immediately appeared. "That, that can't be...! That's impossible!" he said in anguish.
A thump to his back and all he could see was blue...wetness...and no oxygen. He swam as fast as his elderly limbs would allow. "Seren... Open the watch!" he yelled through water,

"Loom of Rassilon!" Jake swore, not realizing he'd spoken aloud. He wasn't sure if he was responding to the two new Racnoss, or the sight of one of them knocking the younger Doctor from the deck.
He rose, gripping Sarah's arm with his left hand, half helping her stand and half pulling her to her feet. "Right, then," he said, shrugging off his shoulder rig and handing it and the gun to her. "Get in the cabin with the Doctor. I'm sure he has a plan. He always does. And, if you have to use that, aim for their eyes."
Why am I doing this? Why?
Releasing her arm, he spun and raced towards the starboard rail. "I'm going after the Doctor."
He ducked under the swinging arm of one of the Racnoss, sprang to the railing, and dove into the North Sea.
I should let him drown. I should let him drown. Why aren't I letting him drown? I would have, not that long ago.
The water embraced him.
I only used to want him dead as a matter of business, when I couldn't reason with him. It was the drums, the damnable Drums of Rassilon, that made a monster of me. And a cosmos without the Doctor scarcely bears thinking about.
He kicked, pushing himself further, looking for the young Doctor. And in the middle of the conflicted swirl of thought, one traitor memory surfaced. Something he'd said, long, long ago, before rivalry had turned to hatred.
You and me, right? If you need me, I'll be there for you. Now don't go and screw this up.
He wasn't sure if he liked the person this new incarnation was proving to be.

darn, oh darn, oh darn, oh fu- Her train of thought was shut off as she stared at the spider, gapping wide as it hissed at her, incisors dripping with something obviously venomous. She screamed, like the girl she was. Sobbing as she scrambled backwards. Dogs with more then two eyes, that she could handle. But a spider, woman thing? Oh HELL no. Oh hell bloody freaking no, she could not handle that. She was about ready to curl up and accept her fate, when one of 'The Doctors' grabbed her arm and dragged her into the cockpit.
She was reduced to intelligible gibberish for a moment, as she curled up. He was yelling at her and she fumbled with the fob watch. She had no idea how it would help, but fine, she would open the darn thing! She fumbled with it, crying softly as she squirmed and grabbed for the edge of it. She screamed as the creature slammed into the door, curling up and trying to claw at the clasp for the fob watch. The moment it opened, she wished it happened.
If they thought her scream before was bad, this one was filled with heartwrending pain. The time has come, the Archivist will rise from the Ashen Star. The voice echoed in her mind, but her body was filled with pain, and a presence. From the watch came an orange light, from her body a pulse had begun. The cockpit was lit up with blinding light. She screamed, her body arching and twisting as the pain rushed through her. Memories rushing through her, about The Doctor and their time together. About what had happened to her home, and the fact that she had run from the War.
She felt the presence recede, as the pain did. She gasped for air, drawing in a long breath. That's when she felt it, the double heartbeat, the double tempo. Her eyes widened, pupils dialating fully as she rolled over. "och... bloody 'ell that hurt!" She cried out as she gripped her chest. Then she stopped and slowly sat up, she grabbed her backpack and pulled her gun from it. Her eyes narrowing for a moment, then they closed. Slowly she stood up, a rather calm exterior around her. "Well then, shall we handle this." She said softly as she stood up and slammed a clip into the semi-automatic. Shoving the backup clip, and bullets to fill the clip, into her pocket.
With that she unlocked the door, she had already heard shots. She stepped from the cockpit and turned off the safety, she cocked it and then calmly walked over towards the edge of the boat. She felt so many presences that she knew. Her eyes closed for a moment, a hissing breath left her. She was glowing, she knew she was pulsing with light, orange light. She was probably glowing like a star. But the Archivist had been found, she had been reborn.
It was at that point that more water rose up into the air, as a hissing creature crawled his way up the side. She calmly leveled the gun on his face. "I give you one warning, ya hear. Run..." She hissed softly as her eyes narrowed. "Cause I swear, if ya thought the Doctor or the Master was someone to fear, you have na ever faced The Archivist." She hissed between her teeth. Of course the creature lunged at her, definitely not listening. She was confused, but she easily shot off a few rounds inbetween the creatures eyes. What were the Arachnos doing here? How was this even possible. They had been wiped out in the Dark Times. Unless somewhere in time and space, a nursery ship had been floating around and waiting for the mother to come to awaken them.

The out-sized wave headed toward them was emergency enough, but then a large, red, multi limbed, spider like creature clambered strongly onto the deck. It's face was a mockery of a human woman beast. Sarah Jane was already moving backward, letting go of the Doctor and retreating, a scream caught in her throat.
Her retreat caught the thing's attention and it darted in her direction, but was distracted by sudden shots. Jake slammed her with some small care to the deck, keeping flying anything from hitting her while his next shots went off deafeningly loud beside her. She tucked hard against his chest as the thing tore out it's death screams.
"I know a good restaurant in Skegness. Steak and Stuff. Does an amazing scampi." He was saying, his chest rumbling against her ear. She flashed a challenging smile up at him.
"Don't count your chicks before all your arthropods are cooked." She teased, half breathless from her fall. She was glad he yanked her too her feet. He was fast and gave instructions as more hell broke loose. The gun she put into her bag, glad to have at least one of them safely out of circulation. Sarah Jane shut the door behind her and went for the wheel, turning the craft into the waves to try to keep them all from capsizing in the rough waters.
In the nominal safety of the wheel house, she watched outside, and listened inside. She hoped Seren could do what she said, and was not just a lunatic. The Doctor seemed to be on her side.
Sarah just might get her Scampi after all if Seren, was telling the truth.

Jake swam, ignoring the stinging of salt in his eyes, looking for the Doctor he'd nicknamed Moe Howard. Maybe he had already drowned.
No, that would be a problem.
And then his hand brushed a flailing hand. He gripped it, heaved at it, and worked an arm under the Doctor's arms. Kick! his telepathy echoing through the physical contact. You're three hundred years younger than me, so kick!
They breached the surface, and Jake emptied and filled his lungs in a convulsive burst. Even with a respiratory bypass system, that was hard work.
And the yacht was on fire. "Rod and Eye!" he snarled in frustrated fury. "Can't I catch a break?"
No, wait. That wasn't fire. That was the young woman, the one in the green dress. She was on fire.
He treaded water, supporting the Doctor, giving him a chance to catch his breath. No, he realized, she wasn't on fire. She was deArching, and she was shooting at one of the Racnoss. She was saying something as well, but he couldn't hear it from here.
"Look," he said to the gasping Doctor, "You're awful at this. Next time you plan some final, genocidal gesture, call me. I'll give you some pointers."
Just then, a chitinous arm lashed down and hauled the both of them out of the water. The aft Racnoss leered at them. "Aaaah, meat. Do you taste good, meat? Because I am so very, very hungry."

Seren's gun arm swung around, as the two men were swept up by the water by the Rachnoss. She stopped then, and stared at the two men. Her Doctor, her ... that was Koschei! "OH you can bloody well forget that. Not a chance in 'ell I'm letting you get Koschei!" She snarled as she stalked towards the creature. She watched as it swung around, and with rather scary accuracy she emptied ten rounds into the creatures heat. Then she closed her eyes and counted in her head for a moment, stalking over to the males.
Her stride as as purposeful as it used to be. Especially in the Libraries, perhaps now, as she glowed - Koschei might remember this green dress from the day in the square, when that bother decided she was going to try and take her Thete. She smiled at the both of them, and then swung her arm to the side, her head turning as she shot the Rachnoss again. "Someone, wish to explain to me, as to why there are Rachnoss on earth?" She stated as she looked over towards the water that was rolling and twisting.
"Well that would be becaussseeeee of The Doctor man. The Doctor Man dessstrrrrooyyeed my children before. We have come, from a far disstance to destroy his planet for taking my children!" The voice of a female spoke as she crawled up on to the yacht, causing Seren to grab the side railing to keep herself from sliding down as the spider woman went to the middle of the ship, standing over the cockpit. Seren's eyes widened, as she snarled. "Boo hoo, you brat. So ya children got destroyed. You are world devourers!" She snarled as she dipped her head down. There was only hints of the red in her hair, from her original regneration. Right now she was more Archivist then Seren, an Archivist that had regenerated in a time of war, and then hid herself as a human.

Jake clung to the Racnoss' wrist with one hand, and scrabbled at his web belt with the other. "I..." he choked out, "I taste rather like old shoe leather, if you must know."
"Then I shaall just have to let you age, meat," she hissed into his face, spittle flying.
"I'm... I'm already... pretty well... aged."
His free hand closed on a small cylinder, and he started to pull it free.
"OH you can bloody well forget that. Not a chance in 'ell I'm letting you get Koschei!"
He had just enough time to register shock - Koschei? - and then he was flung around violently as multiple gunshots hammered into the torso of the Racnoss. Large caliber, if he was any judge. .357 maybe, or maybe even .44.
This is no time for trivia, he told himself.
And then he hit the deck, one half of a Time Lord heap with the semi-conscious Doctor. The Warrior thrashed, staggered, and fell from the aft of the boat.
He pushed the Doctor off him, and sat up. The woman in green loomed over him. "Someone, wish to explain to me, as to why there are Rachnoss on earth?"
"Glark," was the first thing he managed to get out through his bruised throat. "Uhm, no clue. For real." He squinted up at the woman. "...Archivist? Is that you?"
The yacht lurched again.
"Well that would be becaussseeeee of The Doctor man. The Doctor Man dessstrrrrooyyeed my children before. We have come, from a far disstance to destroy his planet for taking my children!"
Jake massaged his throat as he climbed to his feet. "Another one? This is... absurd."
"Boo hoo, you brat," the Archivist sneered. "Soya children got destroyed. You are world devourers!"
Jake pushed the Archivist aside and back - Have I suddenly developed a death wish? - and stepped forward, confronting the creature. "Hey," he asked with a lopsided grin. "Get off her yacht."
The Racnoss looked down. "The meat speaks?"
"Are you deaf? Or just stupid?"
"Impertinent meat, you speak to me like that?"
"Yes, yes I do."
"You make demands, meat?" She loomed over him, now, salivating.
"No. I'm giving an order. And you will obey me."
"Or what, meat?" she laughed.
Jake raised the tube, and thumbed a switch. There was no visible discharge, but the Racnoss screamed and vanished.
Vanished? No, not entirely. It was still on the deck, about the size of a cocker spaniel now, stone dead.
Jake kicked it into the sea. And then he looked at the wheelhouse. "Right. Can we go, now?"

At Jake's words she stopped her appreciative woooh whooing at their success, to a quick look to make sure everyone was stable enough on board, and started pulling North out of this cove. Surely she had enough information now to get Mr.Smith to unscramble the message being sent. Her car waited about three and a half clicks from here. It was a sweet craft, and she drove it quite jauntily. She loved a good vehicle and a day when nobody died.
Her curiosity about Seren was the only thing that weighed upon her, but she loved a good mystery. It was a thrill as well to have her friend the Doctor, the Doctor's on board. Jake was a puzzle all his own.

Seren was standing, her legs shoulder width apart. Bracing herself as she glared at the woman, her eyes seemed to be burning. The energy of the arch was fading, but it left a pleasant healthy glow to her skin. The glow of a female Time Lord, one that had lived for just as long as the Master, just as long as the Doctor. Her eyes closed for a moment as she braced herself for what was to come. A shiver raced through her as she opened her eyes. She heard Koschei speak to her and she turned her head towards him. "Aye, tis me, mate." She said as she smiled at him softly.
Still the same Archivist in many ways. Only he and Thete had seen her soft side. She turend her head to watch the Rachnoss now, her eyes narrowed. "Oi!" She snarled as she was pushed to the side, and she glared at her old classmate, and the man that had broken her heart. Her eyes closed as she took in a long breath. She heard the exchange between the Rachnoss and The Master, her eyes remained closed as her world began to spin. By the time they opened again the creature was down and dead. "That was the Empress of them, from the sounds of it." She whispered as she collapsed to her knees.
The green dress pooling around her as her head went down. Her arms wrapping around her waist as she shook. She realized her adrenaline was fading and they were moving. She fumbled for the pocket of the dress, and shivered softly as she began checking her bullets, but putting the safety back on. She felt so weak now, and so tired. She still had a faint glow, but her mind was in turmoil. Who was she? Libby? Seren? The Archivist? Who could she really call herself. Her hands covered her face as she shook. Time Lords never arched themselves for more then a few weeks, because the illusion became too real, became too strong. It caused issues when they went back to their normal self. A duality of minds, that really split things. She had spent near seven years, as a human.

The Doctor was sinking. He was never a good swimmer, and the waves weren't exactly helping. He shook and flailed his arms wildly, but he just sank lower. He was sure he was going to drown, when someone seized his hand and heaved him out of the water, just in time to see... "Libby!" he smiled, spitting water out of his mouth.
The Doctor and the man- "Jake" -were back on board in seconds. Koschei seemed to easily handle the remaining spiders, kicking the last into the sea. He was just about to congradulate him when he saw Libby fall to her knees. He raced up to the recently de-arched Timelady.
"Libby, are you alright?" he kneeled down and placed a hand on her shoulder, "It's me, the Doctor."
