Riocard crouched down, hugging his knees. As the guinea pig ran towards the Doctor, watching him play the recorder, Rio picked it up triumphantly. “I did it!” he said cheerfully, dancing/hopping-around-madly with the alien pig in his grip. The gerbil thrashed wildly in his grip, sharp teeth slicing the air in search for the human’s skin. Riocard squeezed the critter to his chest, the very picture of joy. He’d never had a pet that survived much longer than a few minutes, so the fact this gerbil seemed young and full of life pleased Rio. “I am very proud,” he said, grinning brightly.
He held the gerbil by the scruff of its neck. He pulled the Doctor along by the arm, turning his head back to grin brightly at the older man. “Come along, friend Piper!” he cheered. “We must lure out those gerbils just as candy lures out Rios!” he chuckled.

Maria ran straight for one of the several storage rooms, or rather she hoped it was. Opening the door, she was pleased to find several plastic containers. "Hey Guys! I think I found something that could hold the little creatures. Well, after we add a couple air holes in the lids of course."
She proceeded to pull a couple out. The clear plastic containers weren't exactly large, or small, rather they were square and came up to the halfway point between her ankle and knee. They would do a nice job of keeping the guinea pigs out of the way.
Remembering her lazer screwdriver, she pulled it out and tried to set it to the correct setting so she could blast a couple small holes into the lids. Maria fired a couple shots, her hands a bit shaky considering the last time her screwdriver fired, it was by accident and it caused her regeneration.
Putting the screwdriver back into her pocket, she picked up the plastic container; lid on top; and brought it over to Rio. "Here we go, it may not be a hamster cage or anything like that, but it should work."

Rio blinked up at her, taking the container in one hand while still holding the flailing animal in the other. “Aye, aye, Cap’n,” he said, setting the gerbil gently into the container. He twisted on the lid, grinning at his new minute friend. “Can I keep her?” he asked hopefully, looking from the Doctor to the Phantom. “We’ll be best friends! Rio and..and…” he squinted at the gerbil. “Geraldine. Her name is Geraldine.”
He hugged the container Geraldine was in and bounced up and down on his feet, making the gerbil flail awkwardly inside of its container. Not quite realizing he was giving his new pet Shaking Alien Syndrome, he hugged the Doctor, and then threw his arms around the Phantom, quite pleased to have stumbled upon them. Well, actually, he had sort of pried his way into the TARDIS. Oh well. And his little heart-to-heart with the Doctor had made him feel slightly better – even if he hadn’t told the Doctor everything.
“I’m going to go find Geraldine’s friends now,” he informed them solemnly, bouncing away from the two Time Lords.
