"I don't mind at all!" Answered Riocard happily.
"Thats good," he said, "I'll speak to you later, Phantom."
He ran out of the "warehouse" and into the big blue box, the Tardis. He opened the door and left it open for Rio. He opened a cabinet full of elaborately decorated recorders. He grabbed one of the not-so-pretty ones.
"I wanted to show you," he began, "A storeroom."
He led the Frenchman through a corridor, into a room full of shelves. "I could help but notice that you weren't quite completely equipped for the adventure of... Everyday life." he said, trying not to sound rude.

Riocard followed the man quickly. His eyes ran along the blue contours of the police box. The inside of it only slightly faltered him. He’d accepted the outrageousness of the things called ‘TARDIS’ pretty quickly. His father had told him that aliens were real and more advanced than humans. Sure, it had thrown Rio for a loop the first time, but he was always p for new experiences. He hadn’t ever suffered culture shock as severe as he had inside of Maria’s time machine. Perhaps that was only because she’d conceded that it was a space ship, but not the magnitude of the alien-ness.
His lips twitched into a wide grin at the man’s collection of recorders. “My papa used to play the flute,” he said, putting his arms behind his back curiously.
“I wanted to show you a storeroom,” the Doctor told him. Riocard tilted his head slightly, unsure of where the man was going with this. Instead of barraging the man with questions, he merely nodded and followed obediently. Perhaps the cute little recorder man needed him to do some lifting and moving? The Doctor was quite small after all.
His optimistic thinking took a downturn at the Doctor’s words when they entered the storeroom. “I could help but notice that you weren’t quite completely equipped for the adventure of… Everday life,” the small man told him gently.
Riocard stiffened considerably. He was suddenly quite aware of how he looked; his clothes had smudges of dirt. His bag had been chewed up by the dog – but he’d been intending to steal another one so he didn’t look quite so much like a vagabond.
“I-I have what I need,” he insisted, his cheeks burning. “I don’t…” he trailed off, French accent growing thicker from his severe embarrassment. He didn’t like charity; his father had so often refused it himself it seemed almost treacherous that Rio should accept it from this kindly little man.
He bit his lip, torn between his ingrained polite manners and his reluctance to accept charity. This was incredibly awkward. He did appreciate the man’s generosity – it was something that more people needed – but he didn’t appreciate this situation. And that made him feel silly, because this man was trying to help him, not frighten him out of his wits.
“Thank you,” he murmured quietly. “I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but the only thing I’m lacking is a home, and I don’t really want one. I’m a bit of a restless spirit, you see.” He was coaxing himself out of his embarrassment, and took a step towards the Doctor. “This is the best day of my life. I’ve been travelling my whole life and I’ve never seen anything like this. Probably never will again,” he murmured, looking around inquisitively at the shelves.

“Thank you,” Rio answered, “I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but the only thing I’m lacking is a home, and I don’t really want one. I’m a bit of a restless spirit, you see.” the Frenchman explained, taking a step towards the Doctor. “This is the best day of my life. I’ve been travelling my whole life and I’ve never seen anything like this. Probably never will again,” he murmured, looking around inquisitively at the shelves.
The Doctor smiled, trying to ease the remains of the tension. "Of course. I'm just worried that you might need...eh, restocking."
He pushed a few boxes away, finding a thin, long one. "I couldn't help but notice you carry a lockpick." he said, pulling the box towards him.
"What all do you use it for?"

The man smiled at him. Although it was a relatively mundane gesture, Rio felt some of the pressure ease off of his shoulders. “Of course. I’m just worried that you might need…eh, restocking,” the Doctor told him. Riocard glanced down at his torn bag contemplatively. He looked back at the stranger, looking slightly torn.
“I don’t need restocking, but thank you for offering,” he said politely. “I do appreciate your offer,” Rio smiled. He looked at the box and bit his lip, supressing the urge to ask about it. He leaned against a wall, about to ask another series of questions when the man cut him off.
“I couldn’t help but notice you carry a lockpick. What all do you use it for?”
Rio widened his eyes and looked down at his feet. “What do you think I use it for?” he asked, the words coming out more harshly than he’d intended. “I’m a thief. I steal, I lie, and I’m nothing special. I keep trying to tell you that I really am nothing special. I’m painfully human.” To exaggerate this point, he pulled out a wallet he’d lifted from someone on the streets.
He sighed and waved the wallet with a vague sense of grumpiness. “You see? I’m nothing but a petty criminal.” He paused at his words and gave another big sigh of annoyance. “I take that back, Doctor! I’m not even petty! I’m wanted for human trafficking, murder, kidnapping, and if I go on we’re going to be standing here for two hours,” he said, pacing the storage room.
The Frenchman was obviously agitated, and he was digging into his skin with his fingers, muttering in feverish German under his breath. He stopped in his tracks and scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. “Don’t think I’m a bad person—” even though I am “—I just… I can’t help but to try to save people, and sometimes my options aren’t on the legal side, I’ll admit.”
With his deep dark secrets and long overdue rant off his chest, Riocard was feeling pretty chipper now. He rubbed his elbows and chuckled at the Doctor, slightly embarrassed and a little fearful about the response. “I didn’t mean to rant like that. I’m very sorry. Do you need my help to move any of these boxes?” he asked lamely.

The Doctor held out the box towards Rio. It held a Sonic Screwdriver. Rio could go through every door he encountered in no time flat. He seemed like a kind person, and he should have something to remember all this by.
Rio widened his eyes and looked down at his feet. “What do you think I use it for?” Rio snapped harshly, “I’m a thief. I steal, I lie, and I’m nothing special. I keep trying to tell you that I really am nothing special. I’m painfully human." Rio continued, producing a likely stolen wallet.
The Doctor opened his mouth as if to speak, but it snapped close. He didn't seem finished yet. Hurray. Rip waved the wallet.
“You see? I’m nothing but a petty criminal.” he stopped, and sighed a large sigh, “I take that back, Doctor! I’m not even petty! I’m wanted for human trafficking, murder, kidnapping, and if I go on we’re going to be standing here for two hours." he ranted.
The Doctor half gasped at his words. He didn't want Rio to continue.
But he did.
Don’t think I’m a bad person, I just… I can’t help but to try to save people, and sometimes my options aren’t on the legal side, I’ll admit.”
The Galifreyan nodded. He was pale white and his smile was at a hundred miles per hour in the opposite direction. He crammed the Screwdriver box in a crate and shoved the crate behind a few large cardboard boxes. He had intended it as a gift for Riocard, but... He had no intention of giving it to him if he was going to use it for murder. "I think it would be best if you just-" he almost said 'leave the Tardis.'

"You...didnt? Are you sure?"
"I’m very sorry. Do you need my help to move any of these boxes?”
"It's...okay. I don't need help. I think that'll be all. I'm going to check on the others." he said.
He trudged out the door and towards Maria's Tardis. There went a new friend...

Riocard wasn’t a stranger to disappointment or loneliness. He’d been almost a zombie for years after his father died, only offering half-hearted smiles to strangers. It was during that time that the monster in Rio grew – sent it into a snarling rage. But he’d been able to supress it, and he’d been happy about it. He’d managed to stay Xavier Riocard Keâts, and he wasn’t going to end up like the Russians who had killed his fathers. But that control had crumbled when he’d seen them again, heard their language being spat out at him, and seen their filthy smiles. And they hadn’t deserved to be smiling, so Rio had done the very thing he’d promised himself he wouldn’t do in his life: he ensured that the men who had murdered his father wouldn’t smile again.
He almost opened his mouth to explain all of this to the Doctor, but the man was already staring at him like he was a monster. His face was already pale, and his eyes were dark and his mouth was open in a sort of shock that Rio wanted to dispel. He wanted to laugh and hold up his hands and admit it had all been a lame sort of joke. But he couldn’t lie anymore, he was just too tired. “I’m sorry,” he told the man quietly.
When the Doctor put the box away, he felt another wave of new emotion crush him. He swallowed thickly, looking down at his feet intently. He thought of Rio as a monster. The Frenchman wiped his eyes and muttered about how there were dust particles intent on blinding him. “I think it would be best if you just—“ he cut himself off. Riocard raised his eyes to the Doctor slowly, and gave a small smile.
Get out.
“You… didn’t? Are you sure? It’s… okay. I don’t need help. I think that’ll be all. I’m going to check on the others.”
Riocard swallowed thickly, following the Doctor. “I’m sorry that I’m barely human,” he apologized, the words coming out despite his reluctance. “I’m not proud of the things I’ve done. It’s just…” he trailed off, clamming up. The Doctor had shut him off when Rio had exposed the most vulnerable part of his past. This man didn’t care about him anymore, if he ever did. What was the point of trying to charm his way back into the Doctor’s good graces?
But he wanted the cute little man with the recorder to like him. He wanted him to ruffle his hair and smile down at him and say I forgive you. “You just remind me of my father,” he admitted, swallowing the lump in his throat. “I didn’t mean to make you hate me, or to make you be scared of me. You asked me if I’m sure about not meaning to rant like that. I did it because I thought we could still be friends.”
He looked uncertainly at Maria’s TARDIS. Would he be welcome in there again? Surely the Doctor was going to divulge his history to Maria – tell her that the pretty man with the green eyes was a cold-hearted murderer.
“It was very nice being your friend while it lasted though, even if I never got to hear you play the recorder,” Riocard said cheerfully, grinning at the man. “Will you give Maria my regards? Best of luck with the alien guinea pig.”
ooc| that has to be the angstiest I've ever written Rio. I feel like I need to go watch Carebears.. :/

"I'll speak to you later, Phantom." The second Doctor said, before he ran out with Riocard following him.
"Oh... Alright then." Maria said quietly, only slightly confused as to what just happened. "Okie dokie, who wants to catch a alien guinea pig?"
She smiled at the remaining people inside her TARDIS, before she walked over to her console and looked at the exposed wires. "Or we could talk... Either works for me."

Apparently she and the Doctor were just party hopping. Worked for her. She followed after Maria, long stride easily catching up beside her. How big could this Guinea pig from the great beyond be if this squirt was interested in looking for it?
"I'm voting for the pig. What do you say Doctor? Lazy day or the chase?" She challenged with a spark in her eyes, ready to go whether he did or not.

"Okie dokie, who wants to catch a alien guinea pig?"
The girl said to the crowd inside the odd room. Berwyn was sure that she was joking, so he understandably laughed. No one else did.
"Oh, you were serious." He stopped and thought for a moment. "I'll come along, I suppose. That is, if you'll have me."

The Doctor scurried from his Tardis to the Phantom's , Rio close behind. "I'm sorry." came the Frenchman's voice.
"It's fine." he said back. They both knew it really wasn't. The Doctor simply didn't know what to say. His respect for Rio had indeed ended before it began. The sad thing was, he liked Riocard. He truly had seemed like a kind person. Human trafficking?
"I'm sorry that I'm barely human." Rio continued in his apology.
The Doctor stopped and looked back at Rio. "No...murder and such is completely human."
He turned again and kept walking.
"You just remind me of my father,"
The Timelord bit his lip to keep from asking if is father had been a killer as well.
“I didn’t mean to make you hate me, or to make you be scared of me. You asked me if I’m sure about not meaning to rant like that. I did it because I thought we could still be friends." he admitted.
The Doctor melted at his words. The Frenchman had opened up to him, and he had reacted judgementally. He felt like tears nearly coming to his eyes. Behind every criminal there was a tragedy. Likely, Rio hadn't chosen this path, he was driven into it. And he couldn't stand it.
"We can still be friends," he said warmly.
“It was very nice being your friend while it lasted though, even if I never got to hear you play the recorder,” Riocard said cheerfully, “Will you give Maria my regards? Best of luck with the alien guinea pig.”
"I could do that, but that is assuming you're not coming." he said, turning.
The Doctor smiled. "I forgive you."

The Doctor seemed to hesitate, perhaps it was the intent male voices nearby. Always just looking for trouble to unwind, the Doctor. Where as Amy was ready to jump right back into party mode after the fun she'd had last night.
"Sure, kid, you're in. Last one to catch a Guinea Pig is a squid-faced Ood!" She said with a grin at Maria, ready to follow her lead to where the fun was.

"Alright! Let's tryyy..." Maria pointed down the south hallway in excitement. "This way! .. Kay?" She asked with a childish tone. "Onwards!"
Maria quickly ran down the hallway she pointed down. Stopping every so often to make sure Amy and Berwyn didn't get lost.

“We can still be friends,” the Doctor said. Riocard raised his eyes cautiously, carefully keeping his hopes on a strict leash. The man seemed genuine enough so Rio lowered his guard, grinning brightly at the man.
Despite the man’s insistence that they could still be friends, Riocard found himself shifting slowly towards the door. He was entirely unsure about whether or not it’d be rude to leave – not that he hadn’t ever left unannounced, but Maria had been so kind to him. Not to mention that he wanted – no, needed – to take a trip on that TARDIS of hers. “I could do that,” the Doctor said, “but that is assuming you’re not coming.”
Rio raised his eyebrows and tilted his head curiously, regarding the older man carefully. He didn’t speak, lest he cut off the Time Lord’s words. “I forgive you.”
The Frenchman stared blankly, his brain desperately trying to catch up with the new information presented. I forgive you. Well, there they were. The three words he’d been trying to get anyone who knew him to say. His mouth drew into a grin and he stepped forwards, torn between squeezing the man in a bear-hug or simply shaking the man’s hand quite furtively. I forgive you.
Riocard looked down, the grin on his face beginning to hurt his jaw. “I am very happy about that,” he said cheerfully, thrusting out a hand towards the Doctor. “Xavier Riocard Keâts!” he chirped, giving out his full name instead of his usual ‘Rio’ introduction. He figured the Time Lord deserved a bit more.
He glanced at Maria’s TARDIS and bounced closer to it, stepping inside. “Come on, Doctor! Maybe you can lull the guinea pig out with your recorder! Pied Piper, eh?” he laughed.

Berwyn felt a grin spreading across his face. Even if this was just some weird dream or even if he was just slowly going insane, he didn't care; because this was fun.
"So how did an Alien Guinea pig get lost in this place?" He asked sarcastically, noting the labyrinthine network of hallways. Remembering the ship's request to be referred to as female, Berwyn quickly amended his statement. "Sorry, how did an Alien Guinea pig get lost in... her." The wording left an awkward taste on his tongue, but he shook it off.
He glanced at the flame-haired girl next to him and back to the younger girl running ahead of him as he continued to sprint down the corridors. "And speaking of which, what exactly is an alien guinea pig anyway?" Smirking, he decided he could insert a joke. "Is it from Space Guinea, or Space New Guinea?"

When the Doctor looked back at Riocard, he was smiling such a large smile that the Doctor feared his face would tear.
"I am very happy about that." he said.
The Doctor smiled, a little less ostentatiously. "I'm glad." he said fondly.
The Doctor decided that, all things considered, Riocard could be forgiven of his crimes. All things considered, it was healthier for a timetraveler to forget the past and settle for the future. And the Timelord was readily accepting to do so.
"Xavier Riocard Keâts!" he said, seizing the Doctor's hand and shaking it vigorously.
Before the Doctor had time to think about this, Rio- excuse me -Xavier was half inside Maria's Tardis. “Come on, Doctor! Maybe you can lull the guinea pig out with your recorder! Pied Piper, eh?” Riocard said, laughing.
The Doctor grinned and nodded. "I suppose so...yes." he agreed jumping inside the Tardis.
