Davros grinned at the struggling girl before using his panel to temporarily control the machine's movement. He made the back of it face the child and the back of the glass case opened. Crude, metal devices were inside it, ready to complete Davros' purpose. "So child, will you tell me what I asked? Or will I make it three minutes?" He gave another grin.

"I WON'T TELL YOU, NEVER EVER!" Rani shouted, though she knew it was a bad idea. She had enjoyed her life, but if it meant she died without letting not one piece of information slip out of her mouth to be known by Davros, at least nobody would forget her.

"Two minutes up.." Davros muttered. "I can make this ordeal a lot more painful than it already will be," he said to the screaming girl. He pointed one of his fingers at her shoulder, and shot a tiny bolt of electricity. Not enough to kill her, just to give her a painful shock. "Tell me about Sarah Jane Smith."

Rani fell to her knees, her hand on her shoulder. "N-e-v-e-r!" Rani said, in pain. She still wasn't going to give up the information she had, and that he wanted. She knew that if she did it would be betraying Sarah Jane Smith, and that was something that Rani would never, ever do unless Sarah Jane gave her a hell of a good reason to.

Luke, her genius son, had spent a day exploring an advanced Erector set that she had bought him. All else had been forgotten while they sat in the midst of creative, engineering chaos. She had learned much from Luke that day. She longed now for that set full of abundant possibilities. Right now, Sarah Jane had to make due.
The ring, she had rigged through sandwiching cross-tied bones. Ten little sets of bones held in place with twine in leaf-spring style, and lightly weighted with the flat back flap of her notebook. All the while, she was adding more torn pieces of the front flap to the mouthful she already had, and willing herself to think about hot chocolate and buttered toast rather than the bones she was mucking about with. Spit would be key as anything else. She glanced at her watch, frowned fiercely. Her gaze shot up at Rani's cries. She redoubled her efforts, tying twine to to the last 7 centimeter scrap of her notebook backing. All this time, and Rani couldn't have been more than 8 yards from her. It was excruciating not to go to her. Sarah Jane spooled out her long line, nearly running in the opposite direction.

"Sarah Jane must mean a lot to you, for you to defend her like this," Davros commented. "She's evidently picked up one of the Doctor's traits." He gave the child another shock, this time on the leg. "Would you really die for her?"

"She's does mean a lot to me! An Alien like you would never understand that!" retorted Rani. "Yes, of course I would die for her, just as she would for me! We're good friends, we help each other, and we're willing to die for each other. It's called love, Davros, but of course someone like you would never know it!" Rani said.

30 yards, and how she wished she'd bought the 50 instead. She dropped the end of the twine where she stood, and started taking pulp from her mouth and jamming it into both ears as deep and hard as she can. The last word she hears is "-love" echoing back faintly to her.
She pulls the string gently but firmly, feels it pull free, turns and runs down the corridor as fast as she can, pulling out a flashlight as she goes.
The string pulls free the pile of rubble she had dammed above it. Debris tumbled down on the waiting platform of cardboard over the mouse bone and twine leaf springs. Weighted down, they sagged. The crossed springs in the middle twisted, beginning to wring the ring.
The Phonic Disruptor blast hit even as Sarah Jane was sliding down the gritty sewer floor, hands clamped over her ears.
The blast would render temporarily unconscious anyone within earshot. Sarah had tried to get as far out of earshot as she could. Still, she felt it.

"Love?" Davros sneered. "Do you truly believe she thinks of you like that. Like I said, she's picked up one of the Doctor's traits. He fashioned his 'friends' into weapons, and they all died or suffered because of him. Sarah Jane is doing the same to you. Look at what she's led you into now!" He gave another shock to her back, and gave a laugh that sliced through the air. But he stopped suddenly when a banging noise filled the air. Next thing he knew, he was unconscious. When it happened, his life support back-up systems began working...

Rani blinked, and then next thing she knew she was lying on the floor unconcious. Whatever had caused it Rani had no idea; but when she woke, she just hoped that Davros would have found out.

Sarah Jane rolled up to her elbows with a gasp and yanked out her watch. She had not lost more than 30 seconds. Back up and on her feet, she ran, flashlight in hand. It was easy enough to follow the string back to the Sontarn blaster, which she scooped up and carried with her into the room Rani, Davros, and that half baked Dalek travel machine were in.
Sarah knew it would be terrible to see Rani slumped there, and it was. She used the Sontarn Blaster to shoot out the control dish of the force shield. She barely manage to catch the girl's skull as she was freed and slumped to the ground.
"Sorry, Rani." She said softly as she searched the limp girl until she found her Sonic, whipping it out of Rani's jacket pocket with a sigh of relief. She turned to the travesty that Davros had created, there gaping open and ready to receive the body her friend if Sarah Jane had not returned on time. Taking her Sonic, she aimed it at that exposed machinery until things melted and smoked. It made her sick to think of Rani encapsulated in that thing.
Sarah Jane knew Davros was using some sort of link between his chair and the mechanisms around here. She looked for relay dishes and sensors on the walls and found them. She worked fast with the sonic to snuff all but one, which she disconnected and put into her pocket.
Next she turned to Davros, a private sneer on her face. He looked so terribly pathetic there, slumped over in his little chair. It seemed she had hated him forever. Not wanting to touch him, she held the barrel of the blaster over him and used it's sharp cutting hook at the end of the barrel to slice each lead running from the chair to his head. Practical, those Sontarns. Then she found herself holding the muzzle of the Blaster hard against Davro's head. it would be so easy to end it all right now.
((Might I suggest Rani rouse first, due to her youth, and take the next post? If you will allow, Davros.))

((I'm assuming you meant she awoke..)) Rani moaned slightly and opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the ceiling. She sat up and looked around her. The forcefield was gone. Then she looked ahead of her. "Sarah Jane, what are you doing?" asked Rani, standing up and walking towards her. She glanced at Davros when she was walking, who looked very helpless, slumped like that. But Rani assumed that that was what she had looked like moments before.

She should do it now.
She'd never been quite so near to Davros before. Now, Sarah Jane was so close to her life-long foe that the muzzle of her Blaster was denting his crepe-like ancient skin. Tender skin that she could see that even now was bruising slightly under the pressure of her threat.
It would be so easy.
The heavy blaster slipped a little in her hands that were suddenly slick with sweat. Bracing a rubber soled boot high on Davros' Transportation Machine, she leaned in resting her upper arm on her upraised knee to take the weight, even as she continued to mash the barrel against the side of that grotesque head that slumped on his scrawny form like a cut daisy two days out of water.
"Sarah Jane, what are you doing?" Rani's voice was suddenly beside her, but Sarah Jane did not look at her friend. She kept her focus on Davros, every heartbeat of hers perhaps Davros' last as her resolved flip flopped. Her fingers were literally twitching over the trigger. Once, long ago, she had begged the Doctor to do almost this exact task. It was harder to be so certain when she was the one holding destruction in her hands.
"I'm cutting out the seed of the wart on the face of the Universe, Rani. It's all his fault. All of it." Her voice is soft and hoarse. "I'm going to do it." She said, but it was almost a question.

With a gasp, Davros regained consciousnes and his system came back online. When they did, the first thing he noticed was the gun barrel digging into his head. Then he realized something else: some of the links to his system had been cut. They were some of the critical ones, and now...he could die at any minute. That foolish earth woman! No wonder these idiots aren't advanced, they can't use technology. He turned his head to face his old enemy. "So this is what it comes to," he said. "The woman who holds a choice of death in her hands. You can shoot me, or let me die slowly and painfully." He wondered if she knew what cutting those leads had done.

Davros woke with a sucking sound as naked as a baby. It was like a cold glass of water to the face, shocking her out of her killing rage. With a gasp nearly as naked as Davros', she straightened her fingers away from the trigger before she could make a terrible mistake. A tremble moved through her, and then she steadied.
It was too horrible to look at what her own hands were doing, so she eased up on the pressure of the muzzle carefully, then inched it back his head, though Sarah Jane never lost her aim. Sarah Jane held the heavy, deadly, hunk of metal in one hand and the weight of it on her knee, she reached out with the other hand, grabbed the front of Davros' jacket and hauled him upright. She took the blaster in a two handed grip again.
"How kind of you to offer me a choice, Davros." She spat his name, her broad white teeth bared like an angry animal might. "However, I'm going to choose an option I just made up all by myself instead. Rani." Her gaze turned sharply to the girl, though she kept Davros in her peripheral vision, and her aim true. Just looking over at Rani washed out the last of the red she had been seeing. She had heard the girl crying out in pain. There were scorches and burn marks on her. Very little blood. The pretty girl was wild eyed and a bit pale, but she looked steady enough for now. Besides, if she inquired as to what had happened to her right now, Sarah might get very very angry and change her mind on this whole 'shoot him in the head' thing. Her voice was no longer a growl as she spoke to a member of her gang.
"Rani, will you bring me my leather gloves, and the utility knife from my bag?" She asked her, making it sound as if this is the most reasonable request in the world.
She indicated with a jerk of her chin which tunnel entrance to look in, the very one Rani had been in before. She had, most intentionally left a flashlight, turned on, on top of her bag to lead the way. Rani would see it as soon as she looked.
