The whirring grind of the time rotor subsided. "We have a-rrived," shrilled a Dalek in cream and gold travel machine. "What is our po-sit-ion, Kal-wor?" The optic stalk of the cream and gold travel machine swiveled to look at the Black Dalek. "The Sol sys-tem, thir-teen light min-utes a-bove the north mag-net-ic pole of the sys-tem pri-mar-y. Feb-ru-ary two thou-sand ten, loc-al reck-on-ing." "Plot a course for the third plan-et. Pro-ceed at max-im-um stealth when it is ready." "I o-bey." shrilled Kalwor. The gunnery officer spun in his seat. "Cap'n?" he asked. "Yes, Mate Saf-lan?" "Are ye sure about this, Cap'n? It would be easier to just raid a Vinvocci hospital world." Irkk's optic stalk fixed Saflan with a baleful glare. Saflan met the gaze without flinching, a smile on his lips. "Why do you say that, Mate Saf-lan?" Saflan's homely face registered shock. "Well, I mean, this is Earth! The homeworld. It's the most advanced planet in the galaxy!" Irkk made a grinding electronic noise that Saflan had long ago learned to interpret as laughter. "You have not yet mas-tered the art of think-ing like a time trav-e-ler, Saf-lan. That is true in your time. In this era, Earth hu-mans have not yet trav-eled be-yond their own sat-el-lite. They de-pend on chem-i-cal pro-pell-ants for veh-icles and weap-ons. They be-lieve un-con-trolled a-tom-ic fus-ion is the ul-ti-mate wea-pon. Their plan-e-tary de-fen-ses are far wea-ker than ev-en a Vin-voc-ci hos-pit-al world." Saflan looked skeptical. Irkk laughed again. "Scan their world for your-self." Saflan started to turn, then looked back. "But Cap'n? Assuming you're right, and you do usually turn out to be right, are you sure it'll be there? We're depending on legends and old books for this." "The re-cords I searched were quite clear. There is an Im-mor-tal-i-ty Gate on this world, in this time. And I will have it."

The professor landed on earth, in february 2010. He was here because he had a feeling something was coming after the immortality gate he had heard about. He pulled out the sonic screwdriver, and mused out loud, his manchester accent pronounced as always "Ok. So, i know that there is a space pirate known as dalek irkk. I don't know if he is coming after the gate. If it is here."
The professor put his suit jacket on, and put a few more small boxes, that held 6 bullets in each, in his left pocket. The pockets were dimensionally transcendent. He left the tardis, and locked it when he was outside. He stepped back, and pointed the screwdriver at it, and activated it, the orange diode glowing. The tardis disappeared and the professor grinned.
The professor said to himself "One second out of sync with the rest of the universe. I can't be too cautious, in case some alien is here." He put the screwdriver in his trouser pocket and went into the street, thinking as he walked.

"We are now in skar-o-sync-rho-nous or-bit a-bove the tar-get site," Kalwor shrilled.
"Ex-cell-ent." The Black Dalek considered for a moment. "Da-leks Kerr-i, Taad, Uuls, and Chov-ek, you will join me on the drop saucer."
"I o-bey," each replied.
"Mate Saf-lan. You will or-gan-ize a de-tail to a-ccom-pany us, and then join me on the drop saucer."
"I obey," Saflan replied with a grin. "I've actually already picked my team, and ordered them to be waiting." He fell in next to and a step Irkk as the Black Dalek slid for the gravatic tube.
"You are e-ffic-ient, Saf-lan. That is the pri-mar-y rea-son I em-ploy you."
"And here I thought it was my good looks and winning personality, Cap'n."
The optic stalk swiveled to look at him, then rotated back. "Most cer-tain-ly not."
"Aawww," Saflan pouted as they came to a stop in the shaft.
Irkk selected a destination with a tap of his manipulator. After a long moment, he broke the silence. "Are we jok-ing?"
Saflan chuckled. "Aye, Cap'n."
"Good. I should hate to have to ex-ter-min-ate you for in-sub-ord-in-ation."
Saflan swallowed hard, and chuckled weakly. "Are we still joking Cap'n?"
"You tell me."

The professor was thinking as he walked. Last time he had met irkk, the dalek had told the professor that this would be the daleks first encounter with him, and that the professor recognized him from an earlier encounter, in the time lords own time stream. The professor only knew that. He hated asychrony, but that was the price of time travel. He could meet someone he knew, but they didn't know him yet.
The professor looked at the vortex manipulator on his wrist as it beeped. He heard a robotic voice say "Incoming...Alien....Ship." The time lord grinned, knowing this was in fact the day he would meet dalek irkk for the second time in his personal time line, but this would be the daleks first meeting with him. In preparation for this, he had used his sonic screwdriver to upgrade the vortex manipulator. It could now detect any unknown ship entering the atmosphere of the planet he was on. He looked at the sky and said "Come on irkk. I've been waiting for this day." He then looked ahead, grinned manically and began to run.

The dropship fell through Earth's atmosphere on gravatic drives, functionally invisible to anything but the naked eye. Sensors out, it watched for anything - local aircraft, contacts with non-Earth starships, even bird-watchers with binoculars. So far, nothing.
"Sen-sor con-tact," reported Dalek Uuls.
"De-tails?" questioned Irkk.
"A space-time dis-place-ment con-sis-tent with that of a TAR-DIS."
"Is it Ka Faraq Gatri?"
"Un-ab-le to ver-if-y. It is ut-il-iz-ing an ac-tive cloak."
Irkk considered this. On the manipulator arm, it was probably a coincidence. Ka Faraq Gatri was known to have an unreasonable fondness for this third-rate zarthspeck of a planet. It was quite likely that he was here on some other and absolutely unrelated business. But on the blast arm, Ka Faraq Gatri was known to have an unreasonable fondness for this third-rate zarthspeck of a planet. And it would be just like him to overlook the simple fact that the War was over, and that both sides had lost, and continue to carry a grudge.
"I do not pur-sue him and in-ter-fere with his plans," Irkk muttered, a trifle petulantly. "Sure-ly he can of-fer the same cour-tes-y to us."
"Cap-tain?" asked Uuls.
"No-thing. Take us in. Care-ful-ly."
The dropship glided swiftly in the direction of the Naismith Manor in England.

The professor heard his vortex manipulator beep and looked at it, as it said "Alien....Ship....Almost....Landed." The professor grinned, and thought Well, Dalek irkk, I'm coming for you. I've been waiting for this day ever since i first encountered you. The professor then looked around, and pulled out his sonic screwdriver again.
He went into a deserted alley and saw a ladder to the top of a building. He climbed to the top of it, and saw a few spot lights. He aimed two of them into the sky, and pointed his screwdriver at them. The diode glowed orange as he activated it, and the spot lights turned on very brightly, and any spaceship would see it.
The professor grinned manically, and also pulled out his python revolver out of his jacket holster. He grinned more and thought I hope your ready irkk. When you try and look for the gate, i will stop you. I swear on the ashes of the planet gallifrey in the constellation of kasterborous that i will prevent you from getting the immortality gate.

Naismith Manor was in lockdown, under the joint authority of UNIT and MI-5 until it was decided who had final jurisdiction over the property and the alien artifacts contained there in. Uniformed soldiers patrolled the grounds and the interior, heavily armed and under no illusions that the "shoot to kill" order regarding intruders was quite serious.
They were expecting, well, almost anything. An incursion by the surviving members of Torchwood. A Majestic-12 black operations unit. The Mossad. Possibly even the Greys or the Sontarans.
What they weren't expecting was for a 30 meter honest-to-God flying saucer to drop out of the skies, big as life, like something out of The Day the Earth Stood Still. The original version, not the Keanu Reeves remake.
Still, professional is as professional trains and does. And UNIT had over 30 years of doing and training when it came to unexpected and uninvited unidentified craft. Assault rifles, and some weapons with code word Top Secret classifications, were brought to bear.
"Whoever you are in the saucer," a Lt. Colonel was saying through a bullhorn. "We bear you no ill will. But you are in a restricted area. If you have peaceful intentions, we ask that you state your intentions to us now."
Silence reigned. The Lt. Colonel began to bring the bullhorn to his lips again, when a hatch opened and lowered a ramp to the ground. Down it slid a black and gold shape, shatteringly familiar to the UNIT soldiers who were veterans of the events of a year ago.
"I am Cap-tain Irkk. You will all low-er your weap-ons and surr-en-der, or you will be ex-ter-min-at-ed."
"Ex-ter-min-ate! Ex-ter-min-ate! EX-TER-MIN-ATE!" echoed voices from within the craft, as Irkk was joined by other Daleks. Behind them could be seen figures, robots or humanoids in heavy armor, bearing weapons.
The Lt. Colonel swallowed, hard, and steeled himself for his next order. "You have your orders, men. Open fire!"
A hail of projectiles and beams lit the night sky.

The professor hadn;t realized he was close to naismith manor. He saw the ship and grinned. He tapped co-ordinates into the vortex manipulator and teleported to the manor. He landed beside the LT colnol and said "Dalek ship. It will with stand those projectiles. Now, if your wondering who i am, i'm the professor. I'm like a man you may have known in unit, called the doctor."
The professor had thought that unit might know about the doctor. He pulled out his python revolver and said "Now, take me to this immortality gate thats here. I need to stop the captain of that ship getting it." He had a serious look on his face, and said "And don't mess with me. I am 360 years old, and i will help you stop that dalek ship, if you want it." He checked if his revolver was fully loaded and grinned. He also thought he was 360 years old. He had lost track lately, due to his constant time travelling.

Enough is enough, Irkk thought to himself as the first bullets deflected from the hull of his travel machine. Time to remind these primates who the superior life form is.
"Saf-lan!" Irkk shrilled, "Take the crew and secure the gate! We will deal with the soldiers!" Then, to the other Daleks, he simply said "Ex-ter-min-ate them."
"Ex-ter-min-ate! Ex-ter-min-ate!" Around him, Kerri, Taad, and Chovek cut loose with enthusiasm as well as a purpose. He couldn't blame them, not really. They were Daleks, after all, whether the universe remembered them or not.
The humans were brave. And they died by the dozens.
"Tem-por-al dis-place-ment de-tect-ed," reported Uuls from within the ship. "Man-if-es-ting with-in thirty micro-rells."
Irkk slid his travel machine across the lawn. The particle beam had been the single most dangerous threat possessed by the humans.
The emphasis was, of course, on the word had. A single burst from his electron shredder had eliminated that particular threat.
"Ac-know-led-ged," Irkk replied to Uuls' message. "Mov-ing to in-ter-cept."'
"Dalek ship," said the man who appeared out of nowhere. "It will with stand those projectiles. Now, if your wondering who i am, i'm the professor. I'm like a man you may have known in unit, called the doctor."
"EX-TER-MIN-ATE!" shrieked the Daleks.
The Lt. Colonel had not risen to his current rank by being slow on his feet. He had no idea who this stranger was, but he knew what they were up against and was offering to help. "Well then, any suggestions?"
There was a particularly loud, and abruptly short, scream. The particle beam gunner was gone.
The Professor pulled out his python revolver and said "Now, take me to this immortality gate thats here. I need to stop the captain of that ship getting it." He had a serious look on his face, and said "And don't mess with me. I am 360 years old, and i will help you stop that dalek ship, if you want it."
"Great. Let's do that." The Lt. Colonel gestured. "You! Get this man to the artifact room."
As he ordered that, the humanoids that were accompanying the Daleks split into two groups. Each group began to circle the estate in a different direction.

The professor was lead to the artifacts room. He smiled as he saw some of the artifacts and said "Wow, that" He pointed at a piece of eguipment that looked like a sci-fi rifle. "That is an alpha meson rifle! I haven't seen one of those in years." He turned and pulled out his screwdriver, and looked at something that looked like a black metallic archway, which made the professor shiver in anticipation.
The professor scanned it with the sonic and said "Its the immortality gate. and the nuclear bolt is dead. But, if the captain of that ship can fix it, he can heal himself. Now, i need to prevent him from getting near it." He grabbed the alpha meson rifle and said "Hope you don't mind. But i need to borrow this." He scanned it with the sonic and said "its dead anyway. But, not a prolem." He activated the sonic and held it over the rifle, fixing iot. He said "Ok, i'm ready to stop this pirate crew!"

He said "Ok, i'm ready to stop this pirate crew!"
The door in the western wall tore from its hinges and seemed to leap into the room. In the wreckage of the doorway stood Saflan, in heavy space armor and clutching a heavy bore power gun, flanked by a Sontaran and an Ice warrior. More figures stood behind him.
Saflan grinned. "Here's your chance then, laugh... Great Patham's seven hells. That's not really an a-m rifle, is it?" Then he shrugged. "Ah well. There's still more of us than there are of you."
Multiple energy weapons were raised. "Wanna give up now?"
Irkk blasted the front door down and slid through the debris. The battle - slaughter, really - had been short. The humans were disciplined and obviously experienced, but they just had no weapons or defenses powerful enough to withstand the onslaught of four Type VII travel machines piloted by Dalek veterans of the Time War.
"Flank speed," Irkk ordered.
In a diamond formation, the four Daleks raced through the halls of Naismith Manor.

The professor grinned and said "Oh it is an alpha meson rifle. Now, i will surrender. But, take me to your leader!" He dropped the rifle, but, before he had dropped it, he had set it to automatic blasting. The rifle, as it hit the ground, launched three blasts, hitting the weapons out of the sontaran, the ice warriors and saflans hands. He said "Sorry about that. But, what do you expect? I'm a time lord." He grinned manically.

Saflan snarled, shaking his hand as he did. He stepped to one side. "Fry him, boys."
Four other humanoids stepped forward, leveling heavy energy weapons. Sheets of rending polychromatic force filled the room.
"Weapons fire detected, estimate 120 micro-rells a-head on our pre-sent course," Taad declared.
"That is the same lo-cat-ion as the Gate," Irkk stated.
"Con-firmed."
"Full speed," Irkk ordered. "Clear a path."
The Daleks accelerated. As they did, lances of destructive energy erupted from their gun-stalks.

When the shots had been about to be fired, the professor had typed in co-ordinates at lightning fast speed and teleported to behind them. He said "Hey! Tell your dalek leader, THE TIME LORDS STILL LIVE! SOME SURVIVED THE WAR!" He then began to run, having his revolver out, and aimed it behind him and fired 6 pot shots, which was the extent he could fire. He was running fast, and he was panting for breath, but he was nearly at the point of using his respitory bypass to help save him.

"Hey! Tell your dalek leader, THE TIME LORDS STILL LIVE! SOME SURVIVED THE WAR!"
The sound echoed down the hall, followed by a brief flurry of chemically-propelled projectiles. The space armor of the pirates was more than equal to the task of deflecting them.
Saflan looked irritably down the hall. "You three," he barked, pointing to a trio of thin insectoids, "chase him down, cut off his hands and feet, and bring him back here. The Cap'n's gonna want to talk to him."
They nodded and turned in pursuit.
"The rest of you, start securing the gate. Once you get it loaded, then you can start looting."
The other eight darted into the room and began to dismount the Immortality Gate. As they did, the main door exploded in flaming splinters. Irkk and the other Daleks slid to a halt. "Saf-lan! Re-port!"
"I obey, Cap'n," Saflan responded. "The crew's securing the Gate now. We had a little trouble with one of the guards, someone who knew how to use an alpha-meson rifle and a teleporter, but I've got the triplets out looking for him now."
He paused, then added, "That guard said I should tell you something."
"Re-ally? What mes-sage did this tel-e-por-ting guard have for me?"
"I didn't get it, myself. Something like, tell your boss the time lords live. Some of them survived the war."
Irkk and the other Daleks were silent for a full minute.
"It is Ka Faraq Gatri?" Taad asked.
"I do not be-lieve so," replied Irkk. "The re-por-ted be-hav-ior is not con-sis-tent with our data on him. We must a-ssume this is a-nother Time Lord."
The other three Daleks swiveled their optics to look at each other. Their travel machines moved back and forth, as if guided by nervous twitches.
"Or-ders?" asked Kerri.
More of them. The hate flared in Irkk. I could accept Ka Faraq Gatri's survival. That seems almost appropriate. But more of them...?
"Load the Gate," Irkk's voice rose to a shriek. "Ex-ter-min-ate any thal-oid life not in our crew. Ren-der this site un-liva-ble as we de-part."
"WE OBEY!"
He contacted the dropship. "Uuls. Have the Sly-ther pin-point the lo-cat-ion of the TAR-DIS you de-tec-ted. I want eve-ry thin with-in ten rells of its lo-ca-tion des-troyed. When its real space in-ter-face is des-troyed, have the Sly-ther lo-cate it in the Vor-tex."
"I obey!" Uuls responded.
This new Time Lord would be good for one thing, Irkk decided. He would provide the Daleks with a second ship.
