((I just realized that every time I try to post a swear word, it comes up "Rasillion" Go figure. I will edit back))
She gave him a hard look as he skirted the issue.
"But you know that he comes so that that doesn't happen. You know, how it is, I can see it in your eyes Jack." Her tone accusing in retaliation for having outed her. "You've got no right to judge me for it."

This blind faith people seemed to have in the Doctor. Jack had an idea where it came from. But most companions didn't end up being a fixed point in time. They didn't see the things he left behind.
Up until now the said time lord had saved the world many times, often saving some specific humans as well. But he couldn't save everyone. "He left us in the knowledge we could do without him...he doesn't expect us to go rushing into danger"
It was clear they had a very different opinions and thoughts left behind by their space travel adventures.

It was hard to be understood and stay angry. She knew Jack was right when what he said was exactly what she didn't want to hear. Thoughts tumbled and warred in her head, and they were nobodies business but her own. Sarah Jane swallowed her pride a little. The idea of having fellow, capable adults she could twitter now and then . . .
"Jack, what do you mean when you say I'm as much a part of this team as anyone at Torchwood? I don't suppose you noticed I just got your head cut off. I've told people to get out of my life for a lot less than that."

"What he meant was you are on our side," Owen said as he was walking back in. "I was on another floor and they were complaining about two loud mouths. So, I was like I know those two loud mouths." This was Owen being funny. When nobody laughs.
"Let me lay it flat. I care not for your Doctor. I never saw him and I don't care for him. . . What I care that you stay calm because if you raise your blood pressure you be stuck here longer and we will have to do all the dirty work saving the planet." He was walking over to the monitor, "Sarah, you need calm...Doctor Owen's orders."
"Now, I am going to sit with Gwen Cooper. Keep it down. I will have to send you to your own corners," he said walking out and join Gwen.
------
"Gwen, so, what's up?" he asked her sitting down next to her, he pulled a baseball hat, placed it on his head, pulled the rim down to hide his pale skin.

Jack managed a smile as Sarah asked him why she was part of the team, didn't she get it yet? "Yeah well, getting me killed is one of the many fun things my friends can do without me getting angry" Now that he thought of it, almost everyone at Torchwood had seen him die. But just because he jumped into battle didn't mean they were at fault.
The moment Owen walked into the room the tension seemed to slip off his shoulders. And this doctor was right, Sarah could use some rest to heal. And Jack could use some rest in general, a moment to breath and let it all settle.

She listened to Owen, but watched Jack's eyes. Now she did understand 'part of the team'. Little t, not big T. She may not get a paycheck from Torchwood, but they were all in this together. Then she flashed a smile at her young friend and gave him a quick nod letting him know she would follow Dr. Owen's orders. She cleared her throat a little, and it tasted of blood. She did not make a face as she swallowed. Jack did not need to know. His day had been rough enough already. She took one of his hands in both of hers again.
"I can't report to you. I can't, my pride won't take it, and neither will your schedule. I'm also afraid I would begin to need you, Jack. But I would keep tabs with Owen. He listens to me Jack, he understands me. And I think he might need me a little bit. Compromise? What do you say?

"I think, that even when my scedule won't take it...I want to know when you're in possible danger.." His blue eyes were already softer than before, but still held their stubborn sharpness. He wouldn't let this go, no matter how fragile her 'pride' would be.
(Ooc: Kinda short but I'm so damned tired ...sorry)

She felt a flash of anger when he called her pride "fragile", but she brushed it off. They had bigger fish, or perhaps bigger Aliens to fry. His voice, however quiet, was thick with resolve. Sarah Jane realized that not only did Jack have little idea what her daily life looked like, but that if she made this promise now, she would hedge. If she agreed, it would wind up being a lie. That was unacceptable to her. She ground her teeth a little to hold in false words that would end this discussion. She went to take a deep breath and was surprised by the sharp pain in her side. Very little of it showed on her face. Greater was the pain of the decision she had just made. It was something she'd been thinking of for a while. Her voice had dropped to a warm voiced whisper.
"Compromise, Jack? Remember the day with the Lupine, Izzy and Gwen? I'm as good a shot with a gun as I am with the Sonic. What if I promise to check in with Owen, and I also start going armed? If there is going to be a firearm in the room, I want to be the one holding it."
