Simon gave jack the blaster and said "Am sorry about that. I would have let you know sooner, but i forgot." Simon then took off his vortex manipulator and said "I really want to join torchwood to make a difference. And if i am gonna join, i should give you this." He looked at both of them, and his eyes were still a deep green. He said "Oh, and i know my eyes have gone green, but that is only cos i am upset. I keep remembering my family, before the war." He rubbed the back of his head, and gave jack the manipulator.

Ooc; Hey, just a little tip (and remember, I'm not attacking you, I'm trying to help you). When you write, try not to force too much information into one post (this includes speech parts). It makes it confusing and hard to reply to. Also, try to hint at things, but don't have Simon blurt them straight out. He's supposed to be shy-ish, so I'm pretty sure he'd try to hide his past rather than tell it to a couple of strangers.
Before Jack had the chance to grab the blaster and vortex manipulator, Gylfie stumbled out from behind him and took them. At this stage, it seemed like he and Simon needed to talk about a gargantuan amount of things, most of which she would not understand. Besides, she already knew where Jack's office was. She'd just place the things on his desk and return as soon as possible.
"I'll just take these to your desk," she said as she walked to the stairwell. "You two talk about eye color while I'm gone."
Haphazardly, she stumbled up the steps. Eventually, she disappeared behind Toshiko's workplace, but her heels were still loud and echoing.

Jack opened his mouth to argue, but let it snap shut again. He knew that Gylfie would not injure herself while transporting the blaster and vortex manipulator. Besides, it would be so much safer if he were to remain with the alien. He was stronger, more charismatic and charming.
He watched after her until he was completely sure she was gone. Her uneven footsteps could still be heard, but he knew she was out of hearing distance now. She'd be nearing the stairwell to his office.
"So Simon," he said gently, sitting on the metal bed beside the younger man. He placed a hand lightly on the man's shoulder. "What exactly are you? What war are you talking about?"
He had no intention of telling Simon the story of Gwen and Mr Invisible. Gwen had been armed at the time, pumping the man full of lead and then spitting on his flickering corpse. Of course, he'd survived, but it wouldn't make Simon feel any more comfortable. Jack was sure of that much.

Simon looked at jack, and he was about to launch into his story, of his race. The reason he was coming right out with this, was because he thought jack should know about his race. He said "I'm an invisiblate. My species came from refusis II. My species helped a race called the time lords, in a war against the daleks. The last great time war. My parents sent me to earth, but the ship i was on crashed on another planet. I was attacked by a dalek on that planet, but someone from the time agency saved me. He was killed in the attempt. Thats where i got my blaster and vortex manipulator from. I travelled the universe from that point, trying to make a difference."
He took a deep breath and said "My specie's power is usually just normal invisibility. Mine, on the other hand, is fundamentally different. I am still there, but its like everyone is ignoring me. The invisiblates powers were fueled through an energy known as artron energy. We have a massive amount in our bodies, which allow us to channel it, and become invisible." He looked at the floor and then said "I only found out i was the last of my race when i was in the 51st century. I asked if a person had heard of the invisiblates, but that person told me they were just a legend." He felt tears coming to his eyes but he wiped them away.

Jack listened intently to Simon's tale, rarely reacting. When Simon mentioned things such as time lords, the time agency or the 51st century, Jack's lips would tighten and his eyes would close, as if he were in momentary thought. Hearing certain things often set off his nostalgia, but he was always able to ignore it. Now, sitting next to someone who had come so close to his past, he felt the painful twinge of longing, abandonment and guilt that he usually worked so hard to ignore.
Eventually, Simon stopped speaking. His voice was replaced by the rustle of skin against skin. It didn't take much to figure that he was crying. That was all you could do when you thought you were the last of your kind.
Jack squeezed the boy's shoulder in a comforting gesture, hoping that he could calm him down. Living forever offered a broad range of stories that Jack could use, but only one man mattered in this instance. One very important man who had once, quite diligently, believed that he was the last of his kind, only to be proven wrong. Very wrong.
"I once had a friend," Jack started, relaxing his hand on Simon's shoulder. "This friend of mine believed that he was the last of his kind. He was a time lord, you see. As it turns out, his was mistaken. He wasn't the last. There were more of his species out there, trapped in a time lock, and one particular man who was... well, never mind him. Your species - the invisiblates - could still be out there. If you can turn invisible, what makes you think that there aren't more of you out there, wandering the streets of Cardiff?"
He gently turned Simon by the shoulders until the younger man was in an awkward position. It was the best Jack could do without snapping him. He dipped his head closer so that he was staring directly into Simon's watering eyes. He was definitely too close, but that would never stop him.
"You just have to keep hope, okay?"

Simon nodded, trying very carefully not to headbutt jack. He said "Ok jack. I will keep hope." He wiped the rest of his tears. Simon then saidsaid "Jack, i know i asked if i could join your sector of torchwood. I am serious about wanting to join. I've been a nomad for roughly the last 4 years. I think i should settle down on one planet for a couple of years though, and i want to make a difference." He knew he was babbling, but that was what happened when he wasn't as shy or nervous. Simon then said "I know your team might be wary of me, but i think i could prove useful. What do you say?"

Ooc; Just to stay legit, I'm going to mention that Gylfie has just made it to the fifth step without shooting herself. She's trying not to fall over. c:

Jack sighed and dropped his hand to his lap. He knew he couldn't avoid this question. Simon really wanted to join Torchwood.
Ever since he'd become the captain of Torchwood 3, Jack had let it turn into what could only be described as a public freak show. Every citizen knew about them, but not necessarily what they did. Over the past five years, they had had a surge of new team members and new Torchwood units. Alien technology was being turned in from all over the world, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to control the members.
Jack had no doubts that Simon would be a valuable asset. It would be extremely useful to have someone who could infiltrate a facility without being seen. Simon could help them get information and he could release trapped critters with virtually no assistance at all.
Had this been any other instant, Jack thought, watching Simon unblinkingly. A tense silence had settled between them. Had this been any other instant, I would've said no, but I think I'll give him a trial period. No, I'll give him a job. Minor, of course, just like every other new member. Especially alien. I wonder if he'll be alright with Bryan.
Jack stood, walked two paces forward and then spun on his heel, facing Simon again. "You'll receive minor jobs at first. Consider this a trial period. The slightest mishap or disrespect and you will be fired. It's your job to protect the human race, whether you like them or not. You won't receive a gun until you are sent on your first mission. You will, however, receive training in basic martial arts and gun training."
He paused and took a breath, running his bright gaze over Simon's entire length.
"At some stage, you'll need to meet with Ianto or Toshiko to update your profile. Name, age, gender, position, et cetera. Normal stuff. Is that alright?"

Simon nodded. He had expected something like a trial period. He stood up and said "Sure jack. And i can also give you information on my race. It could help." He stretched, and winced as he was stiff from having fallen earlier. He smiled at jack and said "Thank you captain." He remembed something he had learned from having been on earth before. He saluted jack and said "Its an honour to work here." He smiled again and said "One thing. I don't have anywhere to stay jack. Would it be possible for me to stay here, somewhere? I'm used to sleeping on hard surfaces."

Jack hesitated, his lips pouted in a thoughtful gesture. He already knew that Simon wouldn't be staying in the Hub, but he couldn't figure out where else to put him.
It'd be easy enough to get him a hotel, but how would he cope all alone amongst humans?
We don't know enough about him to let him out, he thought, his foot tapping the cement ground. I could have Gylfie stay with him, but that'd just be weird and I can't put her in danger. Perhaps Owen...
He considered letting Simon stay in his room, under his office, but that didn't seem very safe either. The holding cells seemed logical, but that wouldn't seem very friendly and Jack didn't like the thought of disturbing Janet. He had so many options, but none of them seemed safe enough or kind enough. It would either be one extreme or the other.
"It's not safe enough to leave you in the Hub by yourself," Jack said firmly, not mentioning the fact that he already lived there. "I'd send you to a hotel, but then, for safety reasons, I'd need some of the team to escort and accompany you." He sighed and sat down on the bed again. "So you'll have to stay in one of the holding cells. Just to monitor you, of course. The air pressure and blood pressure inside the cell will be recorded, which will be added to your profile. We would need to do both anyway, so this is just bundling it up and making it easier."
He watched the side of Simon's face tensely, waiting for a reaction. His upper arms were ready to stop an attack if possible, his gun at the ready, but he highly doubted that Simon would try to hurt him.

Simon wasn't angry about that. He said "Ok. Not the first time i've slept in a holding cell." He stretched, feeling a lot less tense than he had been in a while. He stopped stretching, and he was thinking. He was thinking about how he had to not do anything disrespectful while he was here. He wondered if there was anything in the holding cells that would scare him. He said "Are we going to go down?" He was a bit nervous, but he didn't want jack to think he was afraid.

Ooc; Ah, see, you've written Simon so that he responds to what Jack is thinking about. Not explicitly, but you have to try and avoid doing that. Unless Simon had some sort of telepathy, then he wouldn't know about Janet. Only write for your characters responding to what others have said or acted, but not what they're thinking. Okay?
If you need extra substance to your post, try writing about what Simon is seeing, smelling, feeling. Sometimes it's easy to write for what he's thinking and stuff like that.
I'll try and reply later. c:
