Bryan heard her behind him. Or rather, felt the movement of water behind him. Without thinking it through, he spun around and grabbed her wrists with a smirk. "Got you."

She scrunched her nose up and frowned, "Aww... Your too quick for me." It was then that she noticed his hands. They were webbed. They looked slightly different encircling her wrists but there was no doubt about it, they were the same hands she had drawn just that morning. She looked up to meet his eyes, "Well, that's slightly different."

Bryan grinned, but then saw that she was looking at his hands. His grin disappeared and he took his hands back. What now? What would happen next? "Yeah..." he said, waiting to see how she would react.

She began to run her fingers over them, the same little details she had been examining in her picture earlier. When she looked up she caught the wary look in his eyes and grinned at him, "Now I know why your so fast!" She lifted both hands and kissed each one in turn before giving him a smile, "I don't mind that your different. I would be lying if I said that I was completely normal."

Bryan looked at her, shocked, then grinned as she kissed his hands. Some part of him roared in his chest in victory. "I was afraid of your reaction... Now you know why I where those gloves." He offered his hands back to her, palms up.

When he offered his hands up to her she ran her fingers over the thin membrane feeling the silky smooth skin. It was very soft and smooth but it reminded her slightly of when you rub skin to much and it gets raw. "Does it hurt?" She asked tilting her head to one side and looking up at him. "I take it you aren't human!?"

"No, it doesn't hurt," Bryan said. "I'm half-human. My mother was. My hands are what I got from my dad. As well as my hair, eyes, gills." He took one of his hands back to show the gills behind his ears.

She was amazed. Then a knowing look filled her face, "The water probably feels like home to you, doesn't it? You have been faking for me haven't you? Gasping for breath and slowing down? It was all to convince me you were normal, right?"

Bryan nodded. "I was hoping that if you didn't know then maybe I had a chance." He looked at her. "You mad at me for pretending? That's what the last one said when she left me."

"Of course I'm not mad. You have a secret that could easily get you killed and you chose not to tell me. I completely understand. In fact I can even relate. When we get back to your house remind me to show you something." She told him evenly

Bryan nodded. "Alright. Actually, we might want to start heading back. The tide's about to change and it's about the time that water traffic gets pretty bad," he said as he started slowly swimming toward the pier. He was actually surprised that she hadn't noticed his scars yet.

She swam back towards the pier with him. she had noticed all the scars but she decided not to ask because there were some things people don't like to talk about it and wounds like those were one of them, she knew. There were several reasons she wore a shirt over her swimsuit. UNIT had let her go with every kind of scar.

Bryan was kinda glad she didn't seem to be curious about his scars. They brought up too many bad memories. The reason for the scars was the reason he and his mother moved to Earth. As much as he wished it wasn't, his homeplanet was perilous. He lifted himself back up on the dock, then held a hand out to help her up.

She eagerly took his hand to be pulled up onto the dock. The cool breeze made it feel twice as cold as when she had been in the water so she wrapped her towel around her and shuddered, lips turning blue. "Lets get back, I'm freezing!"

Bryan nodded and put his towel around himself. "As soon as we get back, I'll make us some tea. This might not have been a good idea, especially for you." He bent down and grabbed his gloves before starting to head back to his place.
