Emmehujiat groaned, but perhaps this mission would allow him to permanently damage the Bringer's silly invention. Yes, that idea was quite appealing...he could damage it away from Gallifrey, and also keep an eye on the fellow Time Lord. Trying to hide his smirk, Emmehujiat replied, "All right, Bringer...you are accepted onto the mission team."

The Librarian was glad that they had practiced a little now. His reply seemed very professional and good to her, but, then again, she was a bit biased.
She looked over at the Bringer raised a brow. He actually did want to come? This mission was getting more and more interesting. If he got in, she hoped she would too, he was interesting, and pretty clever if he came up with that device of his on his own, even if it took a century of two to get it made.

Lani followed Kari, looking around with a smile.

The Bringer mentally sighed, Emmehujidat was planning something, he knew that expression and he knew that they didn't get along. This might not end well but it would be fine.

Emmehujidal sighed. "All right....enough from you, Aragorn....you may sit down. The rest of the Council will make a decision about you later. Now...let's see...the Librarian...any objections to her? I have one of my own -- she is of no real importance to Gallifreyan society -- not even from a high social class."
_____
Clearly annoyed by that, Aragorn spoke up, "And when is that necessary for a mission?"
___
Correon looked to the Librarian, "Why doesn't she answer the same question I asked Aragorn...as I agree with Aragorn, social status bears little on a person's ability to accomplish a mission."
________ Earth Kari went into the shop and began to look around, feeling somewhat nervous with her encounter with "heavy wheels."

Lani walked with her, seeing she was nervous, she decided on a course of action - She jumped up behind her and wrapped her arms around her shoulders. "Come on, lighten up. The security will handle it."

The Librarian watched the Council, waiting for them to allow her to speak, grateful that Correon would stand up for her like that. Maybe she could have a chance to see if that practice would be useful to her.

Emmehujidal sighed, and then turned to the Librarian, "You may speak now...but there is one more thing that I would like to ask this woman. Both you and Aragorn are single, and you seem awfully close to him. How do I know that you're not interested in him. How do I know that you're not just trying to spend alone time with him so that you can marry him? You would tarnish good Gallifreyan blood with your filth."
The Reaper watched in amusement. Emmehujidal had quite the ego.
______ Earth Kari felt her best friend's arms around her. "Yeah...but the security can't always be there you know." Her eyes suddenly feel on an interesting object -- well, it wasn't particularly interesting, or wouldn't be under normal circumstances, but right now she was drawn to it. The object happened to be a model of the old police boxes that they used to have in abundance several decades before.

Lani shrugged. "Yeah, but you've got me. And I took those karate lessons. That creeper doesn't have a chance."
*** Concert room - Citadel - Gallifrey
The Librarian had to stuff the sour feelings that festered around Emmehujidat, but she managed to say, in a calm collected voice, "I know very well that Aragorn, being of noble blood, marrying me would ruin his reputation, and being a good friend of his, I can't allow that to happen. And also, sir, I am sure that the mission would very well prevent me from such advances, even if I were interested in pursuing them. As for my qualifications, I have been working for the Library of the High Council for centuries, and I have received some of the highest marks in the Academy, second only to Aragorn. I know a great deal about the planet that we are going to, and I believe that my knowledge will be very helpful."

(nice foreshadowing of a skill that could come in handy later) A large lump of rock, hurtling through space
Beta and his TARDIS clung to the surface of an inert ball of grey rock, rattling through space at tremendous speed.Beta's knuckles were white with clinging to the exterior of his TARDIS as he shouted commentary down his camera that shook violently in mid air,"And here it....oh my!...here it is! the entity that brought about the end of the first age of earth, seeing this great...WOahh!....great mass in the sky the Silurian p..people feared the worst and fled underground to escape the coming cataclysm. What they....ahh...didn't knknow! was..."
The rock he clung to entered into a gentle orbit around earth and he breathed a sigh of relief, after a moment of composing himself like a true professional he continued to report,"That this rock would harmlessly enter earth's orbit and become its only natural satellite for millions of years.Later inhabitants of Earth would call this great moon,'The Moon',human imagination for naming always amazes me!.This 'moon' was to play a major role in their history but more on that later."
Feeling happy with the shot he cut the camera and boarded his TARDIS,his plan now was to go back in time a few hours and get some footage of the Silurians fleeing from the moon.He had not been alone up there,a few other time lords had showed up over the centuries to experience that event as he just had,one of them wore a very fetching scarf...
Earth-2010 In the darkened video room the security man, whose name was Eddie reviewed the day's tape.He was following Kari Smith's day to see when this mysterious boy turned up.Eddie had followed her around Campus and seen nothing for a long time but suddenly as he watched her from a distance sitting under a tree with her friend the most horrible thing rolled past the camera.A chunky black wheelchair with no visible wheels, and the man sat in it,oh that face! he must have been a burn victim or something,no wonder the girl was disturbed by him.A chunky plastic walkman hung from its side, eddie thought it must have been something to do with life support,an oxygen tank or the like,he couldn't see its true purpose because 21st century video tape couldn't pick up brain waves very well.

Concert room - Citadel - GallifreyAragorn couldn't help but be extremely angry at Emmehujidat's words. However, he thought better than to speak up. What the Librarian had said was good enough for him, and it should satisfy the High Council. Emmehujidat chose not to question any of the other candidates. "Any of the other candidates wish to make a defense for why they would like to come? If not, the Council will meet...with of course ...the exception of those who want to go." Emmehujidat waited to see if anyone would respond. The Reaper smirked. She was surprised that Aragorn fought back so defensively. When no one spoke up, Emmehujidat nodded. "Very well, the High Council will meet for the vote." The High Council members who were not trying to go on the trip met together in a small room. About 15 minutes later they returned. "Everyone has been approved," one of the Council members spoke up. Emmehujidat smiled, "Okay....those of you who are coming, you are to arrive at 2:00 PM in the afternoon on (he named a date) in London, Earth 2010. Bring your own TARDIS' if you wish, or you can come in mine. If you plan on traveling with me, I will be leaving in one hour." With that, he dismissed everyone. ______ Aragorn started walking in the direction of his TARDIS. ___ Jed wandered into his own TARDIS. He had been to Earth before, but in a slightly earlier time frame than they were going in now...and he had never been to London. He knew he shouldn't talk to the friends he had made on a previous mission from Gallifrey -- Caleb and Michelle. After the meeting The Reaper walked up to Emmehujidat. "You know you never told me who you are." Emmehujidat rolled his eyes. "My name is Emmehujidal, and my family is highly respected...we've had someone on the Council for years....even had a few Lord Presidents. My family is higher than yours could ever be." ______ EarthKari turned to face Lani again, "I'd forgotten that you took that....I should learn sometime." (Yeah, foreshadowing is always fun. See plotting thread )

A horrified but fixated Eddie tracked the progress of the hideous thing he'd seen back through the day.He lost the trail when he saw his wheelchair reverse backwards into an alley."The old C block?" he said to himself,"No one's been back there in years,I'd almost forgot about it meself."
Eddie's keen security brain knew that something was suspicious.Monsters in wheelchairs do not just appear from dead ends,he decided to investigate immediately...
Within moments he exited the building with a torch and tazer gun in hand, ideally he should have had back up but it was late now and the rest of the lads had long since gone home.He moved swiftly down the bricked paths he knew so well,it was beginning to get dark and the campus seemed grey and deserted. He arrived at the stinking forgotten alley that led to the site of the old C block, many people didn't even think this was a path any more.Shining his torch into corners as he went Eddie trod his way to the little clearing,at first he saw nothing unusual. He saw only the weeds and rusty fixtures, but as he turned his head into the final corner it was clear all was not normal.A large humming metal device sat on the floor sending out an unnerving blue glow,he reached out slowly to touch it when suddenly a form appeared behind him bathed at first in the same blue light,it was a slender white Dalek that observed Eddie with cold curiosity...

Gallfirey "I don't have a family, but I am way more powerful than you could ever be." the Reaper snarled.
Emmehujidal reached out his hand to slap the Reaper. "No one talks to me like that. I have the power to kick you off of the mission, and I will do so....if you even dare to insult me again."
Aragorn quickly fired up his TARDIS, clearly not wanting to be anywhere near a certain high council member. There was no way in all of Gallifrey that he would be caught dead on Emmehujiat's TARDIS....especially after how that man had insulted his best friend in front of everyone.
He set the coordinates, arriving in London 2010. He decided to arrive a few days earlier than when he had been instructed. Deciding that he could use the time to get to know the place. He'd never been to London before -- in fact, he had never even been to Earth before.

Kari's immediate response to Lani was, "Books...definitely."

"In-Tru-Der!"the dalek barked, causing Eddie to spin round instantly and point his tazer forward.Seeing the inhuman shape before him he felt a pang of fear in his gut and instinctively pulled the trigger. Two nodes attached to long trailing cables sprung out at the creature. They would have latched painfully onto a human but they simply bounced off the shell of this faceless robot. Its cold metal eye glared at Eddie as it extended its rubbery appendage.Eddie felt the sticky black sucker squeezing his face,he could feel knowledge draining from his head, floor plans, alarm codes, everything. He fell to the ground where his lost knowledge would be of no more use to him.
The only legacy he had left behind was a rapidly cooling coffee cup and a video paused on a picture of a hideous man in a wheel chair. As he lay there the last thing he heard was the Dalek teleporting away and leaving him to die.

Lani smiled. "Good. Oh! There's this great book store down the street. When we're done here, let's go there."
*** Librarian's TARDIS - Citadel - Gallifrey
The Librarian fired up her TARDIS and set the coordinates that Emmehujidat had given them. Though she was a little disappointed that she had actually been chosen, she really did want to get away from the library for a bit.
She stopped a moment, though, and stopped her engines. She went to look outside to see if the Bringer needed a lift.

Gallifrey -- the Citadel
Emmehujidat sighed and replied to the Reaper. "Yes, yes...but I do not take insolence from those working for me. Do you understand?"
Earth Aragorn stepped out of his TARDIS, looking for a good tourist information place. He really didn't know much about the city. Aragorn looked around, not even knowing the first place to go. He had been on missions before, but not that often. He leaned against a building.
"Humans...they look like Time Lords," he thought to himself as he observed the humans walking around.
Kari took one last look at the various objects, finally deciding that it was time that they could move on. "Yeah....I'm ready to go to the bookstore now...." She glanced outside and added, "It's getting dark...we'd better hurry."
