She didn't know that I'd also given the mind reader everything I could. And protected his coven's secrets too. I owed him that. He'd punished Riley and Victoria for me. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye and though, Thanks. "Felix?" Jane said lazily. "Wait." the mind reader said loudly."
That was the beginning of Bree Tanner's new life. Jane and the others agreed that the Cullens could take responsibility for her and teach her the rules. If she slipped up, the Cullens would be punished along with her.
Bree wouldn't be given, nor would she take, the last name Cullen until she was like them and wouldn't betray them. Bree wanted to make this work. The only thing that was bothering her was the fact that Diego was dead--really dead....or so she thought.
Diego escaped after Riley tried to kill him, he when to the battlefield and saw nothing but smoldering bodies and smelled nothing but his fellow vampires burning, he knew Bree must have been killed. He was ready to lash out, until he caught her scent in the wind. Diego followed it and it lead him to the Cullens house. He heard one talking quite loudly and he saw Bree standing in the window. He knew he had to help her.
Carlisle, Jasper and Emmett all took the responsibility of teaching Bree the right ways. Jasper continues to get angry with her and punish her in the same ways he did when he trained the newborns in his own time. But Bree has an ability that even she doesn't know about yet, and it will give Carlisle, Jasper, Emmett and the rest of the Cullens a lot of work to do if they are to keep her from slipping up and the Volutri destroying them.
