The Timelord snarled. "I refuse. This wasn't my fault!"
Another powerful mental strike and he was brought to his knees. The strike carried a telepathic message, from the very soul of time itself. "I-if there's no other way..."
He ran his fingers through his hair, a tortured expression on his face. "I'm done asking why." ________________
Life.
What really makes the world turn. So fragile, yet so resilient.
Time.
What makes the clock spin.
Speaking of clocks, each and every one had either stopped spinning or spontaneously combusted.
Now what else had exploded?
Alec Harrison's Tardis. And it was ripping the vortex apart. People were dying randomly, entire buildings had been leveled.
But that wasn't all. In the middle of the universe, a bomb was slowly growing. Fire that burned white, beautiful, and yet so deadly...
Knock knock knock,
The door to Flynn's Tardis opened, his head peaking out.
Alec waved awkwardly, and tight-lipped bored expression on his face. "Hello."
The Timelord waved back. Why was Alec here? ...Why? Without warning, Alec stepped inside. "May I use your communication monitor?"
"You came here to use my phone?"
"My Tardis was experiencing problems. I had to wait until you came into my time period and era."
"But why-"
"You weren't my first choice."
Typing in a overly fast pace, Alec entered Marie's name, opening up communication. "Phantom!" he grinned as he saw her face on screen.
With a smile, Maria responded. "Hello...why are you talking to me through Flynn's Tardis?"
Alec shrugged off the question. "Technical difficulties. How fast can you get here?"
"It's a time machine, I'm probably already there."
Alec nodded, shutting off the monitor. There was a knock at the door.
The Phantom stepped inside, and Alec instantly began talking. "Okay, so I have these amazing cruise tickets. I decided to invite my very best friends."
"So what do you say?"
His smile was sad.

Flynn opened the door wearing his lady bug suit. "Why are you here!?" Flynn demands rather coldly pointing a finger in Alec's face only to be side stepped.
"You, My phone? You came here to use my phone? Why-?"
Flynn watched as Alec used his phone.
"I never said yes! Get out!" Flynn narrows his eyes until Maria walks in.
"Hello Maria can you get this oa- wait-Best Friend? I thought you hated me and I though I hated you too? What's with this sudden change of heart?"

Alec grinned. If one looked into his eyes, he could've been crying, except for lack of tears and the manic smile. "Which is why I'm taking you along!"
He grabbed the nearest gun off of the Tardis wall and tossed it in Flynn's general direction. "There'll be a hunting portion." he explained simply.
He ran the console and started flipping switches. "Shall we be off?"

"Shall we be off?" Alec asked.
"I suppose so." Maria laughed lightly, smiling at him. Not entirely sure what had gotten into him, but didn't feel like she should press the issue at the moment. "Think they'll have an icecream shop?" she asked as she hinted the first time they met.
"Also, how have you been Flynn?" Maria asked Flynn curiously.

Alec laughed shakily, suddenly nervous. This was very likely his last time he would ever meet Marie... "Heh, yeah, ice cream shop."
"Aaaaaannywaays!"
Flynn's Tardis flew into the the vortex, through time. They were certainly not going on a cruise.

"Why are you so nervous? We aren't going to a cruise are we?! I demand you tell me where we are going right now!" He shouts at Alec rather rudely. "Considering this is my TARDIS after all. He crosses his arms not amused.

Alec grabbed Flynn's collar, bringing him in to whisper harshly. "Just because you can't stand me doesn't you're always right. Ever right."
He pushed him away, smiling awkwardly. "This is a very special day, but I can't tell you until we get there."

Maria looked at her brother curiously, trying to figure out what kind of trip he was taking them on. As he flew Flynn's Tardis to their destination.
"We aren't going to Cylon 5 are we? Cause if I remember correctly, a giant Tiger tried to kill us.." The Phantom guessed, wondering if they had even done that yet.

Flynn lean against the rail the surrounded his console deciding not to antagonize Alec anymore.
"Yes, the giant man eating Tigers were bad, but I've seen far worse. At least the tigers don't come at you in your dreams..."
"Anyways would anyone like some tea?" Flynn offers looking bored.

Here they were. The center of the galaxy. His Tardis was below them, in an explosion of white. Colors- bright colors -flowed around them. They stood on a bridge of rainbow, so bright, it hurt to look at. Alec closed his eyes, trying desperately to calm his nerves.
Technobabble was his way of doing this. Rambling faster than at all should've been possible.
"The Tardis has been experiencing extrapolating problems previously but nothing on this scale!"
He could've shouted, he could've cried.
"A time bomb! It would take something with eons of vortex energy to undue it...a Timelord."
He had to do this...but he couldn't. Killing others? It saddened him. Killing himself? Nigh impossible.
He pulled out a gun, pointing it at the Tactician. "Flynn."
Just as he pulled the trigger, he switched the focus...
...Marie.
And he fired. "No!" Flynn shouted, pulling out a gun of his own.
He fired it at Alec, who had no chance of escaping. He fell back, tripping from the edge of the platform and plunging into the heart of the explosion.
Even as he fell, it was revealed that Alec's gun had fired a blank.
Alec had planned this.
--------
The Dark Lord was falling. Tears were streaming from his eyes. He had promised himself he wouldn't be afraid, but he was dying, and couldn't help it.
As he fell, he couldn't even see Flynn or Marie. He felt the intense heat of the explosion against his back, and soon saw no more...

Beratusa, 4685
A hat was placed under glass at the front of the room. It was the only remain of Alec Harrison. The rest had been utterly incinerated.
Those who had known Alec were there, offering final condolences towards the late Timelord.
A priest was speaking, his words heralding one thing...
The Death of Alec Harrison.

It is her 80th birthday, and it this point in her life, she has enough connections to get where she wants and when she wants to be. This, however, was a distant enough trip that she'd had to wait for the special favor due her on such an auspicious occasion as being promoted to octogenarian. She is a wisp of her former self she knows. A tiny form in black and hidden in veils. If the Doctor is here, she does not want to see him. She is not ashamed of her age, and even secretly is aware of her paper-flower beauty, but she could not bare to see the look in his eyes when he saw how age had stolen color and substance from her. Besides, she had not come for the Doctor, or even for the priest who droned on before them now, she had come for Alec Harrison. Sarah Jane has come to show her respect. Alec, her friend, her enemy. Alec, perhaps the only sane Time Lord in the Universe. Dark Lord, brilliant and tortured, and more often hamstrung by his own conscious, when trying to sculpt events to his choosing, than anything else. His biggest weakness was he was not a bad soul. He just wasn't strong enough to be a good one, except in unexpected bursts of bravery like the time he'd saved Oracle and herself, not to mention Earth when the Angels came. All that was left was his hat. Somehow this brought a lump to her throat as nothing else had since she had come and sat in the sixth row back.

The Meddler was solemn on this occasion. The mad glint was gone from his eyes, replaced with sorrow, and his normally smiling mouth was a thin slash of sorrow. His friend was dead. His brother was dead.
One of the last of the Time Lords was dead.
He had dressed for the occasion. He was not wearing his normal grey suit and tie. For Alec's funeral, he wore a floor-length robe of ash grey, worked with metallic threads of cobalt and gold. The formal headdress of a Time Lord, ash grey and black, rested on his shoulders and rose up like a shield behind his neck and head, and an ash grey skullcap concealed his brown hair. The only thing recognizable from his normal dress was his ivory cane, which he carried like a scepter.
He strode the aisle slowly, walking like a king, his face dispassionate. When he reached the front of the chapel, he dropped to one knee and inclined his head before the glass case containing Alec's hat.
"The Dark Lord of Gallifrey is slain," he said, quietly. "How are the mighty fallen."
He rested his hands on the head of his cane, head bowed. "Where is one who hung the Framework of Causality? Where stands one who Anchored the Threads of History? He is fallen, fallen, and the Universe shall not know his like again."
Tears ran down his face as he continued to recite. "Oh Mountains of Solace and Solitude, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain upon you. For the life of a Lord of Time is lost, even the life of my brother."
He looked up at the hat. "The life of my brother is lost, the light of a Time Lord has passed."
A pause, and tears streamed down his face. "The imperishable has perished. Why then does mortality remain? Where stands one who Anchored the Threads of History, and how hold the Anchors? Where is one who hung the Framework of Causality, and why does the Framework remain?"
"How are the mighty fallen. The Dark Lord of Gallifrey is slain."
Slowly, he rose to his feet. His eyes lingered on the hat. Then he turned, walking from the alter like a king. His face was dispassionate, yet his tears flowed. With no further words, he left the chapel.

Her two hearts felt as if they were being pull from some invisible weights. She lost one of her best friends, her adopted brother, and she could never get that back.
Maria's tears fell down her cheeks, as she listened to the Meddler's bitter-sweet words. Not a sound came from her, as she looked upon her big brother's hat.
She wished that this didn't happen, she wanted to know why. Sometimes, questions go without an answer. Perhaps this was one of those times.
The Phantom looked about at those who came to pay their respects, wondering how they met Alec.

Flynn stood at the back, leaning against a wall, lost in thoughts of sorrow, regret and indifference. For all it was worth Alec had been a good rival, he thought was the best term, not enemy he didn't hate Alec, not really, somewhere in Flynn's self absorbed heart, he always wanted to make piece with Alec, but that wouldn't happen now.
He had shot a man who had armed himself with a gun loaded with blanks, but Alec wanted wanted to be shot, he knew how Flynn would react, didn't he?
Flynn turned to leave, then turned back, looking at the hat at the front of the room.
He slowly raises two fingers to his forehead.
"Until...Next time, Dark-" He shakes his head."Until Next time Alec." He slowly lowers his finger in some sort of sad salute, then walks off, He would see Alec again, in the next life.

She knew them, knew them all as they came one by one to grieve. Though she was not one to shout out, the others did, and she was comforted to know she was not the only one who mourned the Dark Lord's passing.
It's a shame the universe has lost such a great kisser. Her mind offered as a possibility of something to shout. Then something terrible happened. She cracked herself up. Small dry giggles escaped her, and muted sounds as she tried hard to stop thinking about how spectacularly inappropriate it would be to shout such a thing.
Well, he had been a great kisser. The best she'd ever had, and she'd had a few.
Perhaps it was just the plum. She thought, and had to try to contain another wave of mirth.
Oh, Alec, I'm so sorry.
