Life outside of Torchwood didn’t happen for Daniel, even though he had been here for a few months. He was still very much that young male who had been taken from his time and placed into this reality. It had been that chat he had with Jack a few weeks after he been in this universe that helped him to feel better about himself. Helped him to understand and become more comfortable with this universe and reality.
Here, there were no labs pushing the boundaries of human genetics. Torchwood wasn’t evil and broken into groups. There was just the one Torchwood, the one he had become apart of, no as a member though. He wasn’t ready to be an agent of Torchwood or whatever they were called. Heck, he was still skittish around Owen, Tosh and a few of the other members. There was no pressure for him to be anything other than a young male in this world.
Things had become routine around the Hub for the most part, he had his own room in which he still slept on the floor most of the time. And the room really lacked anything personal other than what Gwen and Ianto would bring him because they wanted him to be more like the others. There was even talk of home schooling him so he could understand this universe better. And then there was Jack; he wasn’t sure about neither Jack nor where things stood between the two of them. Even though in a sense, he was Jack’s kid. All be it a clone of a Jack from another universe… reality.
So Daniel never pressured Jack into anything and kept his distance, he didn’t want to be a problem to anyone here in the Hub or on the Torchwood team. He was still very worried about what he was made to be and scared of what he could turn into. That was no the thing that was keeping him up into the wee hours of this morning, that had him roaming around the Hub, tinkering with a piece of alien tech that had been left out for repairs for a while until he fixed it.
There was no idea how late or should say, early it was for they were underground where the light didn’t come. A few things were fixed and cleaned up around the hub but he was bored now and his mind kept wondering back to the nightmares that never seemed to end. Daniel did his best to push those things away as he stood up from the sofa in which he was laying across and slowly made his way back into the main part of the hub (Rather thankful Jack and Ianto were not up to the usual games tonight or so hoped.)
