Canon/Original: Original
Name: Dorian Flyte
Age: Eighteen
Species: Human
Planet of Origin: Earth (21st century)
Occupation: Lives on father's wealth
Physical Description:
Relatively tall, slender and with a beautiful face, Dorian is a highly attractive individual and knows it. His body language is usually very superior and aloof, letting people know just how handsome he thinks he is. Moreover, the pains he goes to to keep his hair nice and silky, his skin a gleaming white and always smelling nice lets everyone know this is a highly vain pretty boy.
His clothing adds to the impression. He is generally seen wearing smart trousers, smart trousers and loafers (most often barefoot in these). However he does sometimes wear dress shoes with socks. All of these are very expensive looking, always clean and speak volumes on how much value he places on his exterior and fashion.
Personality:
Probably at the expense of his upbringing, Dorian is a very pompous and selfish sort of person. He enjoys getting things, and sees himself as perfectly entitled to the sort of luxury he has been exposed to all his life. This luxury, now, is inseparable from his character. He cannot imagine what it would be like to be without it and dreads any change in his way of life.
This has, furthermore, translated into a bit of snobbery. Whilst Dorian is not ridiculous with this, he is capable of intense haughty behaviour and generally likes to stay in his own ‘set’. If he would not actively humiliate or get away from those he views as inferior to his social standing, he certainly would avoid them where possible and would never accept them as friends or peers willingly.
Combined with all this is a need to look the very best where possible. As he has no real other purpose, this is achieved almost all the time. Of course, he is benefited in being handsome. Yet he enjoys greatly looking at the latest fashions, combing and brushing his hair, admiring his own appearance. Linked with this is a genuine hate of getting this messed up and, whilst this has never been undertook by anyone, he is sure it would be most horrible.
Nevertheless, he is not entirely shallow. He has a great amount of time for his family, and his loyalty is complete there. Likewise, he can translate this for any friends he meets. Whilst this is perhaps downplayed by his other, rather negative traits, they are worthy none the less.
History:
Born as the youngest with three brothers and a sister before him, there has never really been a point in his life where independent action has been needed or when he has gone without being attended to, or pampered. As such, from a baby, he benefited from an abundance of people looking out for his interests and ensuring that he never went without anything. This ability was improved by the fact he was born into an immensely wealthy family – and therefore was able to experience the heights of luxury.
This trend continued into childhood and, indeed, all his life to that point. His father having the best cars, the best house and himself having the best toys and clothes has been a constant part of his life, and growing up he could scarcely think of losing it. Whether or not he was entirely materialistic was debatable, as it still is. As a child there was no doubting that he was selfish and keen to get whatever it was that took his notice, which was always successful, but he was also not entirely mean spirited, capable of being generous and, altogether, not a bad sort of person.
But with this came a good family relationship. Somewhat going against an typicality, his family was always very close and enjoyed spending time with each other. His sister doted upon him, which Dorian was glad of, and his brothers have him enough notice to inspire some sort of awe and incentive to look up to them. Likewise, his father inspired the same sort of feeling, and even if he was into his business rather frequently, Dorian as a boy understood this to the best a child could, and never resented it. However, he was always closest to his mother who had every time available to her available to him, and as his mother had an abundance of time, he received abundance also.
As Dorian grew older, and his education went into the later stages which would require extra effort, his father naturally made sure he had an expensive, private education. This was the same school his brothers had attended (his sister had not, it being only for boys). In this he did not go so far as to thrive, but certainly did not want intelligence. Rather than having one outstanding subject at the expense of other areas, he was consistently above average in all subjects but never the top of the class.
More important to him in this stage of his life was establishing, and he would never admit to anything sounding quite so sentimental, his own sense of independence and individuality. It was here that he was made very aware of being attractive, wealthy and altogether quite a superior sort of person. The deference to his good looks gave him a strong sense of vanity and pride.
Coming to the end of his education, he has no real plans for future. Whilst he has a good University all lined up for him, and which he will go into, he has time enough to wait for that, and in the meantime is at his own leisure.
