[In this RP, series two of Torchwood and Children of Earth never happened nor did the final three episodes of Doctor Who series four. Any episodes after that no longer apply though we still allow characters. The timeline is the same however, we just have a few blank years in the past instead, for rp to fill in.]
The year is 2011, several years after the events of the Year That Never Was and the Archangel Network. Life on Earth has moved on, the Master has been forgotten and our heroes have returned to protecting the Earth in their different ways. The Doctor returned to his TARDIS, alone until he met Donna Noble, who gave him a reason to live again after the sadness he faced at losing the Master. The pair adventured their way through the stars, running and running as fast as they could. The Doctor and his companion, as it should be.
Jack returned to his team and they continued to defend the Earth, collecting technology and arming the human race against the future. Jack, Ianto, Gwen, Tosh and Owen continued to pledge their support to Torchwood as well as dealing with the complications it brought to their own lives as well as others. Martha returned to Earth and became a prominent member of U.N.I.T. All seemed well.
Scientists in Shanghai, under the orders of three mysterious families, have been investigating a curious discovery deep beneath the Earth. There is a creature that they call the Blessing, an ancient being that can show you your inner self. They've now begun to experiment on the creature, hurting it to the point where it would do anything to appease its human torture guards. It decided to grant the people of Earth, immortal life.
On the first of January 2011 it happened. Everybody on Earth stopped dying. No matter how critical their injuries were, they just couldn't die. At first people were excited that they had been gifted with immortality but soon the reality sank in. Overpopulation would become more than just a problem, the planet's resources simply wouldn't be able to cope. So the governments of the world came up with a solution. They would recategorize life itself. Anyone declared category one would be declared legally dead and sent to large furnaces acting as ovens, to burn the unconscious, the comatose and the brain dead to ashes, to clear up the room.
Torchwood began to investigate what people were starting to call the "miracle." Meanwhile in America, the C.I.A began to take an interest in the mystery that was enrapturing the world. They began to do their own research. U.N.I.T too was rather intrigued and started to start searching for evidence of how this miracle began. Whilst all this was happening, aliens began to infiltrate Earth causing more pressure on the population.
