"On our side? Not at my table- I mean, not for the first part of the war. Crafty fellow, that one."
"Yes. Yes he is. Which is what concerns me. That, and the fact that we've diverged enough that I can no longer predict his thoughts with confidence. Oh, but we're still similar enough that it's impossible to track his movements through time."
The Dark Lord crossed his arms. "If it's Midhir we're going to visit, we'd better get going."
The Meddler nodded, slowly. "We will. As soon as the TARDIS' velocity slows to the point that I can bring our course back under control."
"I gather we're going to Tara Hill? Perhaps it's a better idea I go there on my own first to request audience with Midhir myself, since I'm not wanted for murder and all and we know the amount of Sidhe gathering on Tara. That and technically one of them, so perhaps I can reason."
"That's..." the Meddler began. He wanted to argue the point. He really wanted to argue the point. What she was proposing was dangerous, and he didn't want to put her in danger. In fact, now that she had suggested it, what he wanted to do was run.
And he knew that was foolish.
"I don't like it," he finally said. "But you're right. You, or possibly you and Alec, would be the ideal choices to speak to King Midhir and plead my cause."
He tried to pout, and failed. "I just don't like it."

"I don't like it," he finally said. "But you're right. You, or possibly you and Alec, would be the ideal choices to speak to King Midhir and plead my cause."
He tried to pout, and failed. "I just don't like it."
She smiled at Robin's fail pouting face, grinning and she stepped over and decided to mess up his air. Robin was adorable when something was out of his control and he didn't like it.
"You're adorable sometimes, did you know that?" She said with a laugh, planting a kiss on his lips, nuzzling him before she whirled around. Right, Alec was still there and most likely sickened by her display of affections.
Perhaps she should kiss Robin again? She thought with a mischievous smile.
"I don't think the Would Be King would dare to show himself at Tara, he'd have so many Sidhe sick on him he wouldn't even have the time to so 'Oh snap'."
Alec was right, they better get moving if they were going to meet Midhir, before the Would be King would get to the Spring King before they did. Then their problems would even be bigger.
"And to be honest, I think it's better to go on my own, Alec is a Time Lord and they know very few are left. It'll attract less attention if I go on my own."
She turned back to Robin and gave him a teasing grin.
"And I mean, worst that could happen is that I'd get wooed by a Faery King and come back with a child in my belly." She snickered good naturedly.

The Meddler wasn't sure what, exactly, he had done to cause the Dreamweaver to run her fingers through his hair. Or to kiss him. But he saw no reason to object.
"You're adorable sometimes, did you know that?" She said with a laugh, nuzzling him before she whirled around.
"Only sometimes?" he laughed back, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I'll need to work on that," he added, whispering the words into her ear.
Glancing up, he saw Alec busily inspecting the Weeping Angel coatrack and studiously not paying any attention. The Meddler smiled, and squeezed the Dreamweaver once before releasing her. "Later though, I suspect."
"I don't think the Would Be King would dare to show himself at Tara, he'd have so many Sidhe sic on him he wouldn't even have the time to so 'Oh snap'," the Dreamweaver said.
The Meddler shook his head. "Don't underestimate his daring, or his power. I would never attempt to minimize the power wielded by Midhir, let alone his entire court. But the Could've-Been King turned on Gallifrey and Skaro both, in the last hours of the Time War. And he could have succeeded, if the Doctor hadn't..."
His face twisted in pain at the memory. "Hadn't... ended the War," he finished.
He was silent for a moment, composing his features again. "But I suspect he's hoarding his stolen power for a purpose. What, I don't know. But a purpose. So I doubt he'll be willing to assault Tara with an army of the Neverweres."
"And to be honest, I think it's better to go on my own, Alec is a Time Lord and they know very few are left. It'll attract less attention if I go on my own."
Again, he wanted to protest. Again, he knew it was foolish. "Yes, of course you're right. But go armed, and take a communicator." He took her hands, an unusually serious look on his face. "I'll not risk losing you. I would rather run and hide for the rest of time, than risk that."
"And I mean, worst that could happen is that I'd get wooed by a Faery King and come back with a child in my belly." She snickered good naturedly.
He knew it was a joke. But jealousy flared in him just the same. "Is it wrong of me to think, in that event, that I might actually commit the regicide I've been so wrongfully accused of?"

Alec rolled his eyes. He vowed to never contact his 'sister' and former friend ever again. "So I get to hang out with the Meddler. Yippee." he crossed his arms and spun his chair around to face the wall, pulling out his phone, which had Steve Jobs the seven-hundredth's name engraved on the back.
Why would he want to go visit Mirhir (or whatever he was called)? He could only imagine eating from that freak's court. He sent a quick text, then sat back farther. He believed his Tardis had a GPS, or something he could do to find it with his phone.
Besides, the less time he had to spend with Robin, the better.

Robin's words in her ear made her smile, his arms secure around her waist as she leaned back against his chest, giving a quick peck on the cheek. But as he looked up, so did she and she realised it was a bit cruel to Alec. They both parted with regret.
The Meddler continued on, and indeed he was right, the Would Be King was not to be underestimated. Perhaps gathering as many Fae in one place would be his exact goal. Another reason it was a good plan for her to go alone, attract less attention.
Again, he wanted to protest. Again, he knew it was foolish. "Yes, of course you're right. But go armed, and take a communicator." He took her hands, an unusually serious look on his face. "I'll not risk losing you. I would rather run and hide for the rest of time, than risk that."
She gave Robin a blank look and opened her arms, mentioning at the guns and knives on her hips. "Robin, when am I ever not armed?" Suddenly, he took her hands and she blinked, it was not often when Robin would put on such a serious face, but when he did she always took him more then serious. She swallowed the lump in her throat at his words.
"I'll not risk losing you. I would rather run and hide for the rest of time, than risk that."
She gave his hand a squeeze and nodded wordlessly, it was the first time Robin had ever expressed to what extend the man cared for her.
It always worried her when she saw Robin so serious, so she instinctively tried to lighten the mood. Her little crack about certain baby in belly made the Meddler flare up with jealousy, and his reply, even though good natured had a hint of darkness laced to it.
"Is it wrong of me to think, in that event, that I might actually commit the regicide I've been so wrongfully accused of?"
She grinned fully. "Yes, yes it actually would. Maybe I should wear something bland there, a monks robe perhaps?" Oh yes, she had seen that thing in the wardrobe.
And then, she was distracted by Alec.
"So I get to hang out with the Meddler. Yippee."
She snorted before laughing, the tension suddenly broken. She grinned at the other Time Lord.
"It'll be good for your personality, big brother" She said with a cheeky grin.

He blinked, surprised. "Do I still own that thing? I thought I burned it. I haven't even seen it in over six hundred years."
Alec spoke up about that moment. "So I get to hang out with the Meddler. Yippee."
She snorted before laughing, the tension suddenly broken. She grinned at the other Time Lord.
"It'll be good for your personality, big brother" She said with a cheeky grin.
The Meddler grinned. "Or, if you prefer, I can try to locate your TARDIS for you. I can't imagine you're comfortable without her."
A warning claxon sounded about then, and several gauges began to blink. He started, then examined the readouts with interest. "Unbelievable," he grinned, slapping the claxon off. "We've slowed to a manageable speed, but we've actually crossed the reionization limit."
He began to work the controls, changing the pitch of the Time Rotor. "I've never traveled so far into the early universe before. I have to see this. You two have to see this." He flipped a switch, activating the internal communications. "My lady the Specialist? Assorted Sidhe? If you will join the Dreamweaver, Alec, and myself in the primary console room, I will have a sight to show you such as few Time Lords in all of Time have seen..."
He began the materialization sequence, and threw open the doors. A blinding white radiance illuminated the console room, bright enough to wash away all of the shadows. Laughing with delight, the Meddler seized the Dreamweaver in his arms and waltzed her around the console.
"We are only twelve thousand years from the Prime Event of the universe!" he grinned, spinning the Dreamweaver in his arms so she could stare with him into the incandescent whiteness. "And look! In the beginning - before galaxies, before stars, before matter itself - there was light!"

The little Goblin had entered her chambers, letting her know that the Meddler had requested her presence. Just as she was getting up to see him, the world spun and changed. Spinning around she found herself in a plane of nothing, but there was a table. With two rather young looking women sitting there. A chessboard, unlike any most had ever seen. On it where colored pieces, representations of the pawns and puppets that had been chosen by The Guardians.
"We have been waiting, Tracenista, for your arrival to us." The woman in black said softly.
"Your mind is one hard to work with. You are hard to bring here." The woman in white said softly. Both motioned to the chair that was between them. The Specialist walked over to them, taking a seat.
"What is my presence here? Why is it needed?" She asked as she stared at the chess board. Her eyes widening as she realized several of the pieces, where colored halfway with each. This was not what she had come to understand of The Guardians, or their systems. Of the situations at hand. Why was there dual-colored pieces, resting on the outside of the board. Did this mean a change in the universe?
"For ages, it has been a battle of Light and Dark, Chaos and Order. Soon, there will be a change. A gift you may say."
" A neutrality, a new force in the game, a new balance to the situations at hand."
"And I'm supposed to know of this, why?" The Specialist asked as she stared at the two women. Her eyes landed on a piece, strikingly like herself, royal garments, and a crown upon the brow. Was that a representation of the past, the present, or the future. She wondered this as she looked up at the two women.
" You were born to be this. It's what you always have been. It's the inevitable fate."
" The game has changed, because we grow weary of the same old game. The Grandfather Paradox, The Royal Blood. Mingling at our decisive choices, to make a creation wholly different then any seen before."
"One of the children, when born, will be the new piece. They will be called simply 'The Balance Keeper'. Their life will not be easy, choices of light and dark, all to keep things in balance. The new piece in the puzzle."
"And what you are saying is, I am going to birth this new piece to the puzzle. What of the other child?" She asked as she stared at them. Watching both women look at each other and smile softly. She shivered from head to foot at that, and stared at them again.
"She will be The Seer, the outlet to our decisions in the mortal realm. The game is changing, The Balance Keeper, will be part of this new game. They will have to make decisions of light and dark, fight many forces, all to keep the universe in balance. "
"Indeed, this won't be an easy task, and likely in the end it will go to my side, all will be in perfect order."
"Like that will happen, it will be complete Chaos."
"You two do this all the time, don't you? Bicker over the fate of the Universe, playing everyone like Pawns. In the end, you just want to see how deep someone will delve into chaos, in order to balance things out. Or how much of a martyr someone is willing to become, in order to balance things." The Specialist said, her ire and anger rising. She let her palms rest on her belly as she stared at the two women, who actually looked pleased.
"You are smarter then many warrant."
"But what will you sacrifice for your new kingdom?"
"What of the relationship building between The Meddler, and The Dreamweaver. Will you turn a blind eye."
" Now sister, that is not proper manners. We will risk the children with those thoughts."
" I just wonder how far she will go, for her happiness..."
The Specialist watched them fidgeting with the pieces as her world swirled around her. She had no idea what had happened while she was gone, all she knew was she was stumbling from her chambers, rushing to the main control room of the TARDIS. She needed to see The Dreamweaver, needed to see The Meddler. She needed help because her belly was rippling with pain, and an ache was in her chest and heart.

Alec was about ready to rip his hair out, what with the way those two were acting. Why did she have to be his sister? Why? "Just leave already." he grumbled.
For the first time, he sensed another presence. This was interesting...
His phone turned out to be more interesting. "It'll be good for your personality, big brother." She said with a cheeky grin. "Will it?"
Oh golly gee! They were nearing the Prime Event! "Amazing." he said unenthusiastically.
"I went to about that time, once. Killed the Carrionites. Every last one."

That claxon managed to startle her every single time, placing a hand over her heart as she caught her breath. It reminded her of the aerial alarms in Rewquethin going off before a massive attack would go off. She had been on the end of those attacks before.
She and the rebellion had been the cause of them a good few times, too.
She was taken back when Robin called up for the Specialist and the Goblin Kingdom's residents. Once again she watched the Meddler go away at the controls, she could feel how exited the TARDIS was, as well, she would have been bouncing but that would make all of them rather sick.
Then, the doors were open and there was a blinding white light chasing away all the shadows. Her green eyes widened at the sight, her glamor wavering for a moment before it gone.
Then, she was seized in a waltz and she laughed merrily as they danced like they had both gone absolutely starking mad. She had trouble keeping her eyes off the blinding light. It filled her with energy she had never felt before.
So pure.
"We are only twelve thousand years from the Prime Event of the universe!" he grinned, spinning the Dreamweaver in his arms so she could stare with him into the incandescent whiteness. "And look! In the beginning - before galaxies, before stars, before matter itself - there was light!".
They were brought out of their revery by a woman running into the console room, clutching her heavily swollen abdomen in pain. Her eyes widened in shock.
"... Specialist?"
She gasped, was the woman going into labor?

"Amazing." he said unenthusiastically.
"I went to about that time, once. Killed the Carrionites. Every last one."
"Alec," the Meddler laughed, holding the Dreamweaver close and shaking his head. "Oh, Alec, where is your sense of wonder? Of adventure? Of scale? The Carrionites arose in the light of the first population II stars, nearly five hundred million years from now. It will be nearly a billion years before Gallifrey leads the Fledgling Empires against the Racnoss, and the Muon Rath, and the Great Vampires."
His eyes glittered in the harsh, actinic radiance. "The only things out there are plasma and photons, and the first stirrings of the sentiences that will become the chronovores and the Guardians." Another laugh of sheer delight, ending by spinning the Dreamweaver in his arms and kissing her enthusiastically. "And, unless we can believe the legends of the Journeys of Omega, we are the first Time Lords ever to venture so close to the Big Bang."
They were brought out of their revery by a woman running into the console room, clutching her heavily swollen abdomen in pain. Her eyes widened in shock.
"... Specialist?
The Meddler whirled, saw the pain on her face and the way she staggered. He released the Dreamweaver and vaulted over the console, half-catching and half-embracing the white-haired woman. "Specialist!" he called, alarmed. "Specialist, what's happening?"
With a soft grunt, he lifted her in his arms and half turned. "Alec. Dreamweaver. I need your help." A thought struck him, a memory dredged up out of the depths of the past. A quick look of horror flickered across his features as he turned and headed for the door that led deeper back into the TARDIS.
"She," he whispered to the Dreamweaver as she caught up, "she has a history of.. of..." he struggled for the word. "Of not successfully carrying a child to term. I can get her to the Infirmary, but I'm not sure what else we can do for her."

The Specialist was swept away by the concern on Dreamweaver's face. She could hear the scurry of concerned and rather freaked out Goblins. She could hear the Meddler's voice in her ears. In her heart. She was swept up and she gave a grunt as he did so. "Meddler, put me down. Please, put me down." She said as she squirmed.
"They won't let me miscarry, They brought me to them. Explained what was within me." She said in a strained voice, as the woman struggled free and managed to stand on her own, using him as a support. "I am just in pain, and in shock." She said as she tried to take a breath. The pain in her belly was subsiding, apparently trans-dimensional travel, did not make children happy.
Because the twins were kicking up quite a storm, and it was making her more then ready to get sick. "They said... one will be The Seer... the other will be..." She found herself at a loss for words for a moment. Trying to explain it to them, as the pain flared through her. "One will be The Keeper of Balance, a new leader for the games they play." She said as tears came to her eyes. Her children where already going to be pawns.
One couldn't exactly refuse Them, especially when they were the ones that made her have these children. "I just have a pained heart, and the children are very upset. As I said, They won't let me lose the children."

Alec burst out of his seat, feet pounding over to the Meddler. He grabbed the Timelord by the collar, forcefully tugging him away from Sisilaya. "Adventure? Sense of adventure?" he spat, glaring at the Meddler, "I lost that when I had my mind enslaved by you and a piece of produce!"
He sat back down, shoving Robin back over to Sisi
With a soft grunt, he lifted her in his arms and half turned. "Alec. Dreamweaver. I need your help." A thought struck him, a memory dredged up out of the depths of the past. The Meddler had made it to the woman before she could, lifting her in her arms. She frowned as she saw The Specialist frown instantly and start to wriggle in his hold.
"Meddler, put me down. Please, put me down." She said as she squirmed.
"They won't let me miscarry, They brought me to them. Explained what was within me."
She raised a brow as she stilled for a moment, what was the woman talking about? They? Was she talking about some sort of other beings? She shook it off and decided to follow the Meddler. She had rarely ever seen him this frightened.
"She," he whispered to the Dreamweaver as she caught up, "she has a history of.. of..." he struggled for the word. "Of not successfully carrying a child to term. I can get her to the Infirmary, but I'm not sure what else we can do for her."
Once again she took a good look at the woman, she indeed was frail. What worried her more is what the woman was saying more then doing.
Her eyes had slowly been darkening as the woman said the words, her jaw clenching as a mix between anger and worry flitted across her face. She finally snapped and whirled to the woman, taking her by the shoulders.
"Specialist, Specialist! Listen to me! I do not care who you are, or what divine being has told you anything" She said, her hands tightening slightly, making sure the woman was listening to her instead of turning a deaf ear. "But you cannot ignore your own body just because some divine being told you to do so! You of all people should know there are several optional outcomes to an event, we influence them. Divine beings lie just like we do and they have barely any control over what dies or not, they can only see the most possible outcome. If your body cannot handle carry the infants any more it will miscarry, the most they can do is mask your pain but they cannot remove the cause if something goes wrong. So I'm asking you, please have the Meddler look at your children. You cannot blindly trust into something you have been told. You control your own future."
Her hands let go of the woman, stepping back, her eyes swirling. Somewhere along her glamour had been slipping making her eyes glow, the energy about her pressing like an oncoming storm.

The Meddler gave him a long, level look. "You have my sympathies, then. I can understand your anger, but to think that a single bad experience can ruin your sense of wonder..." He shook his head, sadly.
Alec sat back down, shoving Robin back over to Sisi
The Meddler lept to assist the Specialist.
"Bummer." Alec said unsympathetically, "I refuse to help some who I've never met have little Timelord kids who will probably grow up to hate me."
If the Meddler's arms weren't occupied trying to hold on to a woman that was suddenly squirming and trying to get down, he would have turned angrily on the other Time Lord. But they were, and he was distracted by trying not to drop her.
"Meddler, put me down. Please, put me down." She said as she squirmed.
The scene became undignified, as the Meddler wobbled about trying to maintain his balance and make progress towards the door while the Specialist struggled.
"They won't let me miscarry, They brought me to them. Explained what was within me."
"They?" he echoed as she struggled free, and then leaned against him for support. His mind flashed back, back to the moment they'd stood together in her chambers in the Time War, and he stiffened in shock. "The Guardians? You actually did hear their voices?"
"I am just in pain, and in shock." She said as she tried to take a breath.
"Then you should still be checked," he insisted, trying to encourage her to walk alongside him towards the infirmary. "I'm no obstetrician, but what you're describing sounds bad."
By now, the Dreamweaver had joined him, listening to the Specialist as she continued to speak.
"They said... one will be The Seer... the other will be..." She found herself at a loss for words for a moment. Trying to explain it to them, as the pain flared through her. "One will be The Keeper of Balance, a new leader for the games they play."
"Pawns," he spat, disgusted. "The Guardians plan to make pawns of your children." He could see the anger and worry building in the Dreamweaver's face, echoing the anger and disgust on his. "I'll need to do something about that..."
"I just have a pained heart, and the children are very upset. As I said, They won't let me lose the children."
"I don't trust them..." he started, only to be cut off by the Dreamweaver.
So I'm asking you, please have the Meddler look at your children. You cannot blindly trust into something you have been told. You control your own future."
He nodded agreement. "Please, let me have the Infirmary make sure you're all right. And that the twins are all right. I know that either of the Guardians could do what you describe, but I'd feel better making sure that it won't injure or kill you in the process."

"You don't have to trust them, but I do. They are the ones that gave me the children." She said as tears came to her eyes. "Fine I shall go to the infirmary, and when I prove fine - that it was nothing but a hiccup, what then?" She stated as she pulled away from him. She felt odd being held by him, she wasn't blind. How far will she go for her happiness? the words echoed in her head, her hand pressed to her forehead.
"And you, young man... my children will grow up knowing emotions. But I will not allow them to hate another time lord." She snapped towards the one that had made such a vile comment. "Now, fine... we shall go to the infirmary." She said and then stopped as she looked at the Dreamweaver. "The Guardians are the only thing I can truly believe now, they were some of the first - and they are the ones that make the games of this universe. Liken them to the 'Fates' that other cultures have."
"I have been in their presence, and know that they are real. Know that they exist, and know that if I don't do as they say, I lose what I have craved my whole life. " She stated as she walked towards the hallway door, to head towards the infirmary.
