Cipher loved how things were working out for her now, she needed to fuel up at Cardiff, at the Rift. Her driving was a bit better now, she wasn't crashing into things anymore. She even had finished her latest sonic screwdriver, it was amusing, from her research, instead of pursuing a member of the opposite sex of the race she seemed to be part of, you spent your energy in creating a sonic screwdriver. It amused Cipher to no end. So she did that very thing and had gone through seventeen sonic screwdrivers already, some of them had had shorts in them, so it was only natural they had gone out in the first place. Cipher had tossed on a long sleeve grey shirt, skinny jeans, a pair of boots that somewhat went over her jeans, her key around her neck, and her sonic screwdriver in an interior pocket of her brown leather jacket. She exited out of her ship and locked the door silently with the key on a rather long chain around her neck. She had no idea what she was walking into. It was a quiet night, at least as far as she could tell, she walked away from the main area where the rift was and where her ship was, her TR-38 or as she called her Elpis or "El", which was hope personified. That was all Cipher had exactly, hope. She had met a strange man twice in different versions of him and she liked him. Though she had a nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach that she could never travel to Gallifrey, that it was not a safe place for her to grow and learn. So she stuck to earth, most of the time... As she was stuck in her musings, she heard a rustling not far away and a moaning. She wasn't sure what it was, but she felt a strong desire to find out what it was. Cipher approached it, the screwdriver in hand, not knowing that she was being followed by someone or some thing. What she found made her wretch her something, a person being eaten alive, not realizing it was already infected by what was feeding on it. Out of pure impulse she quickly she changed the settings and aimed at the creature causing a blast as she hit a button, the screwdriver aimed at the zombie, causing to aim at the dead thing and fly several feet. As she ran towards the person, she felt for a pulse, he was dead. It was then the dead body began to twitch causing Cipher to jump back, not realizing that a group of reanimated infected bodies were approaching her. "Well... Crud."

Jack hadn't been too worried a couple of days ago when something had forced its way through the rift. But it seemed that said 'thing' wasn't as unimportant as he had thought it would be.
Cardiff was the very first place where it had started. Some minor activity during the day. Activity was at least what he had named it.
The city already had one infestation to deal with, Weevils being dangerous enough. And now there was a second infestation of sorts. The undead, zombies the earthly term for them.
Jack had no idea how this alien species managed to stay hidden, nor did he know why they had come to earth. But he was slowly losing control over the pests.
Tonight was another patrol around the city, making sure he would save everyone he could. Dressed in his usual blue shirt and army coat. Black pants and some boots which wouldn't stain too bad if they were soaked in blood. A gun strapped to his belt and another one on his back as he made his way through the empty streets.
Things were quiet until the silence was broken by a very familiar sound. A sonic screwdriver? There weren't any of those on earth.
Without even giving it a second the captain dashed off, running as fast as he could. Heading toward the sound of moans and shuffles. It couldn't be him, it couldn't be the Doctor.
Jack nearly skidded past the alley where things were going down. Panting for breath as he stared down the dark. It wasn't the Doctor, that's for sure. Unless he had finally managed to turn into a woman. But none the less, she could use his help. "Over here!" he yelled, pulling the gun from his hip before aiming it at the infected.

Cipher heard the sounds of a voice and turned her attention into direction of the voice, it was a tall man in clothes that looked reminiscent of the second world war. He also had the prettiest blue eyes that Cipher had ever seen. However, quarter a second passed before she was quick to move when the zombies started being shot in the head by said move, giving her a path. Cipher was clutching her sonic screwdriver, she couldn't do another blast like that for another five to ten minutes. The screwdriver would need to recharge that particular capability.
Once she had made it to him and said, "I'm Cipher." Though she wasn't looking at him. What she was looking at was for something she could do to find a way to trap the reanimated corpses. Sadly, there were no fenses around to use to electrocute them and could hear more incoming moans from the distance. Her first thought was to get into her ship and get as far away from here, but her second thought over-rode the first and told her to help, what a kind of person abandons people to this? A not very good one.
Cipher took in the view around them, higher ground is what they needed. These reanimated corpses could barely walk and not fast, so it was unlikely they could climb. "I think we should make it to higher ground... Or a rooftop," She offered, not like she was going to run for it. After all, earth was practically her home, she needed to help and do something.

Jack took aim and shot the group of undead through the heads. It was sad to see that there was no way of helping the infected. But it seemed they were nothing like the humans they used to be. "I'm Cipher." the moment she spoke a small smile appeared on Jack's face.
It was good to finally hear someone other than his team talk. "Captain Jack Harkness, nice to meet you" he returned the introductions, glancing at his ammunition before turning his head.
High ground would get them out of reach of the threat, but nowhere near safety. "Yeah well, high ground doesn't get us a safe place" He scanned the area, blue eyes taking in every possible route before he decided.
"C'mon" he had this exited look on his face, as if they weren't in trouble. Jack had gotten used to this kind of work. Running from danger and taking out aliens, he knew what kind of mind set would keep him from breaking down.
He grabbed hold of the girl her hand and turned into one of the darker alleys, dragging her along as he ran. If they'd stay silent along their way they wouldn't be found. And if it came down to it Jack would have the infected follow him to make sure this lovely lady stayed safe.
"So..where are you from?" he whispered, peeking around the corner to see a bunch of undead limping into view. He needed to get back to the hub, that would stay a safe haven no matter what happened.

Cipher looked like she was ready to argue but the moment he grabbed her hand and they started to run, all thoughts of that ran out of her head. It was then she felt the strong presence of something odd, something wasn't right about Jack Harkness and she wasn't sure what it was. It was like... A fact in time, but that was rediculous. No one could make a constant in time, it was always changing. She mentally shook herself and ignored the feeling.
Strange, they were running into the direction of her ship. Though she doubted he knew that. When he asked her that question she couldn't help it she laughed. "Honestly, no idea. I don't remember anything of my life before my Regeneration. Just rember climbing into a ship, losing consciousness and waking up in Cardiff, circa 2005." She explained to the man as she held his hand. "I would say Gallifrey but I tried to go there, there's nothing left. Just dust and debris."
It was then eyes darted to a telephone booth and it was her turn to lead. "There it is, my ship," Cipher told him. "I think we'll be safe there for the moment." She explained to him and led him to the ship and pulled out her key that was now dangling between her fingertips. Once unlocked she opened the door. "Come on," She told him keeping the door open to reveal a very Star Trek-ish looking console room.
"It's the safest place I can think of," She explained. "Plus we can rematerialize somewhere safer if need be," The Time Tot offered. Cipher had a strange feeling, he might know just the place that was beyond the grip of the zombies that were ready too eat their brains.

The moment they moved up to a phone booth Jack began to grin. There was something about these timelords that just screamed 'human' Attached to such weird forms for their ships. However, on the inside the little phone box resembled nothing of an actual phone box. "Wow" he gawked at the technology. These ships were just extremely sexy.
"Nice ride" he teased, hearing the question gave him another excuse to use his voice. "A safe spot? This place, couple of feet down" He flashed her a smile "I think you'd be parking it in the basement"
The Torchwood hub had to be the safest place around right now.

Cipher loved her ship, she smiled as he went in and she shut and locked the door of the interior ship. It looked like something out of an episode of Star Trek, the bridge of the original Enterprise. Minus the captain's seat, it looked the part and she couldn't help but smile. "She is beautiful isn't she?" Cipher said with a grin. "A Type 38 Time Capsule." She went to the center of the room and closed her eyes, reaching out to see the possible outcomes and how to find her way where would be safe. She opened her eyes and looked at the man and smiled, despite his presence was disconcerting. It was like he was a walking contractiction and a oncoming migraine. "Okay, I think I might know a good place," She told him and reached for the rubber hammer dangling on the side on a hook.
"I'd find something to hold on to," Cipher said. Immediately she flipped a switch that was in front of her, as the ship immediately started on. Cipher immediately went about hitting buttons with her free hand and hitting spots with the rubber hammer. It was then she made quick work of getting the correct coordinates in. It was then she pulled down a lever that looked like it belonged to early 21st century car and the ship seemed to silent. Cipher put the hammer down and rushed to the doors, unlocking it, only to have arrived in the Hub as it was, ten minutes ago.
"We're here... I think." She told Captain Harkness.

Jack was a little familliar with time lord ships, and this one was certainly brilliant. The interior (like all time lord things) completely different on the inside as on the outside. The cheeky smile returned to his face once more as Cipher actually called the machine a 'she' This also seemed to be a habit of people who owned a ship.
"I'd find something to hold on to," That was exactly what he'd though he needed to do, he clearly remembered the times in the TARDIS. And how he'd been tossed around like a rag doll thanks to that thing. So he simply grabbed hold of the nearest console and made sure not to press anything vital looking.
"We're here... I think." she said to him. His blue eyes lit with exitement as he let go of the console and straightened his coat. "I really love this" he grinned before looking at the door. "The time travel in one of these" he smirked and patted the console before walking over to the door, gently opening it and peering down the basement of the hub.
"Ah! Home sweet home!" he exclaimed. A big childish smile on his face as he stepped out. "I wonder if the kids are in..." Jack hadn't seen them in earlier. And he just hoped they weren't being mauled by those zombies.
"I hope you don't mind the mess" truth be told, Torchwood wasn't the cleanest place in the world.

Cipher had to admit, Torchwood did look better than it would pretty soon. She wanted to interfere in the 4-5-6 situation that was coming, but she didn't know if honestly she could. Some events were set, and others you could screw with them to your heart's content! It's just Cipher knew that a lot of bad things were going to happen in the future, regardless of what you tried to stop. One action could easily change the future.
"Well not to brag but TARDISes are the sports cars of Time Travel," Cipher commented. It was amazing you could learn with access to history books that spanned the history of the universe. Cipher walked out, following Jack to the door and took out a key and locked it. She was rather excited, she'd get to see the inside of this place when it was actually being used.
"Torchwood?" She asked curiously, despite knowing what it was. She momentarily looked lost in thought before she laughed. "Funny, if you rearrange it, it spells Doctor Who. So what exactly does Torchwood do? Besides hunt down Zombies. I don't remember them back in the 60's doing anything about zombie problem that was going on then. Or is Torchwood, new?"
Cipher knew very well what the purpose of Torchwood and why it was created. However, getting this... Oi vey, her head was pounding and it felt like... Oh no, Jack Harkness was the Jack Harkness, and he was a fact in time. No wonder her head was pounding. He was a fact in time! He was a living paradox! How did that happen and be leader to Torchwood?
Cipher began rubbing her forehead, she'd kill for some medicine to kill this headache.

“Ah! Home sweet home!” Jack exclaimed. “I wonder if the kids are in. I hope you don’t mind the mess.”
Ianto just finished cleaning the toilet he was above when he heard what Jack said to someone. To be honest, the words I hope you don’t mind the mess stung. Ianto remembered leaving the toilet spic and span ‘Sorry sir, for letting you down,’ he thought to himself. Ianto was wishing Jack was careful what he says around the HUB.
Looking over the bar from above, Ianto saw Jack with a lady. Jack does not love me as I love him, as Ianto was thinking and staying out of view. The one thing the painful Tea boy was good to where to see everything and hear everything and not be seen.
”Well not to brag but TARDISes are the sports of Time Travel,” the female said. Ianto was careful to stay out of sight of them. Was it spying on Jack and his female companion? You are right it is. Ianto was torn from inside, she is a Time Traveller like the Doctor. Why is she here for? Is Jack leaving them again? Well, Ianto learned something about Jack and his ‘friend’. Ianto was not sure he can trust Jack’s loyal. The tea boy was jealous, he didn’t want to feel neglected by Jack, but, he was not sure Jack cares for Ianto the way Ianto cared for Jack. In a way, Ianto hate Jack.
Torchwood? Funny, if you rearrange it, it spells Doctor Who.” She said Ianto’s eyes shot open. He held his breath from the shock and squeezed the bar he was holding onto. It was true Jack’s Doctor is involved with this. It’s in the files, he viewed them in Torchwood One but this was coincidence. She continued onward, his ears are like dog ears. So what does Torchwood do? Besides hunt down Zombies? What, Ianto thought. What Zombies was she talking about? The view Ianto was at would not let me see Jack. Ianto was hoping Jack is fine. The worried man knew Jack was immortal, but Ianto could feel the pain for Jack each he time he dies.

Jack had no idea there was anyone else in the hub, he just hoped his team was safe. And not being mauled by the infected. When Cipher asked him what else Torchwood did and why they tried to deal with this plague he smiled lightly.
"We deal with crimes of the alien kind...I hardly think this infection is something human" Not that the human kind were perfect, there was still a possibility it was their own fault. But right now it seemed more likely for this to be somekind of alien infection or even parasite.
When the girl reached for her head his eyes sharpened. He knew it was a bit much to see and hear so much about aliens for 'normal' humans. But a time traveler couldn't be bothered so much with new information. "Are you alright?"
He didn't want to have his guest passing out any time soon. And he was getting itchy to know where his team was hiding. He hadn't heard anything of them yet and the infection was spreading. He would try calling them later.
