She flashed a smile at him, also having enjoyed their easy success. Their heels made the stones ring as they strode together down the grand old place. It was stunningly lovely here, or so she had thought the few times she had seen it, though she only came to 'pray' at the alter of Architecture, not of Deity.
"Izzy, you say such sweet things."
And then they were there. She knew the moment she heard the Father's voice she was a baddy, but whether that was due to the particular trappings of his chosen profession, or he was an intergalactic mastermind, she did not yet know. Either way she was cautious. The first words exchanged between Izzy and Father Newman did not bode well either way. Raising a cool, amused eyebrow, she spoke under her breath to Izzy.
"Parochial school, Mr.Grant?"

Izzy Ignored Sarah Jane's comment not trying to be rude but right now there were more important matters at hand. "Oh you've done allot of horrible things in the past but impersonating a priest...""Oh admit it, your getting off on the whole Thornbirds thing!" Said The father. "Sarah Jane Smith meet Victor Shaw. Time traveling con artist. what are you up to now Victor?""I have no idea what you mean.""Save it Victor I think ive known you long enough to tell when your lying. you always smile that wicked Cheshire grin when you do."

Sarah Jane had no idea what was going on, so she decided to behave as if she knew everything.
"It's good of you to meet with us Mr.Shaw." She said simply as she was introduced, giving him a tilt of her head instead of a handshake, but as a woman, she was not required. It was good. She didn't want to touch him. When Victor said "Thornbirds." She shuddered.
"If you know Mr.Smith, and you're not up to something, you'd be telling us right now about how worried you are about the high percentage of people who have gone missing in this area. Their pictures are plastered on posters outside the very gates of this place."

"you silly girl I was the one who told them to feed on them!" He bellowed.
"It's Okay Sarah Jane you don't have to be nice to him. he's the scum of the earth!" Said Izzy looking disgusted by him. Izzy reached into his bag and took out his gun. "Okay Vic, she asked you nicely and now I'm telling you. start talking or ill shoot you!"
Victor Smiled. "well since you asked nicely."
he stood up handing Izzy and Sarah Jane a book. it was an old diary of sorts that looked hundreds of years old. "last time we were in Paris I found this. it was written centuries ago by a priest.that said there was a secret room in the catacombs of the church that held four forbidden statues."
"Show us where you found them!" ordered Izzy

Sarah too took the book because, apparently, Izzy had decided to come packing heat. Guns made her quite alert, if not actually afraid. It was particularly easy with Izzy, for he was one of the few people she knew whom she considered qualified to carry one. He could be a bit trigger happy, but seemed too graceful to shoot anyone accidentally. Namely herself.
The book smelled like six old ladies baked in a pie.
Izzy's demand earned him a sideways look from her through the dark fanned privacy of her lashes. Right into the devil's lair, eh? Bold choice, but guns influenced people to make bold choices. If she wasn't so curious, she'd be heading for the door.
As it was, little of this showed on her face, she was busy backing Izzy's play. Keeping in mind what he'd said, though, Sarah Jane turned just a little bit so she could keep an eye on the doorway and any of those creepy weepy angles that just might come for a call.

Suddenly the angles appeared at the window. they couldn't move while Victor was looking at them. he just smiled that wicked Cheshire cat grin of his and said, "Looks like we have company."
Izzy turned to see them clawing at the windows. his eyes widened with horror as he looked at them. he tired his best not to blink as he called them to Sarah Jane's attention. "Sara Jane The Angels are at the window!"
he wanted to run to have Victor take them to the catacombs. obviously they were under his influence. but how was the question. "I think our only hope is if we go down into the catacombs and find out exactly where you found them."
Victor lead them unwillingly down a spiral staircase armed with nothing but a ray gun with six shots and a few torches. or flashlights as they were called over in america.
but as Sara Jane dug threw the book she found it mostly to be the ramblings of a mad man.
The angels and the damons have been at war for centuries and were thrown out of heaven and locked away here in the caticomes of the church forever frozen in stone.

She couldn't help but let out a shriek when she saw the frozen Angels at the window. These were not calm faced loving saint like things, they were monsters. They were beautiful, they were horrible. Her heart started hammering in her chest. Sarah Jane was not reading the stinky book that she had shoved into her purse. Instead, she is hurrying along, one arm hooked into Izzy's free one as she went mostly looking behind them, torch glowing. Someone had to watch their back. Izzy she trusted to watch ahead. She wanted to see another one, and at the same time, she really really didn't.

Eventually they came to a large underground stone room. it had that same early mid evil stone architecture as the church. it was cirular in shape and had many stone arches imbeded with crystal that had a green glow. and lots of alien wirteing on the walls with strage alien carvings on the walls.
"This was the place they came from." Said Victor.
"Good." said Izzy hand cuffing Victor to one of the railings. he took out his sonic pen and sealed the room.
Izzy took a look around while he cealled off the room with his sonic pen. he took a look around at the walla pointing his pen looking for readings. "Sara Jane look at all this. I think its some sort of alien statis chamber. tease stones are sending out some sort of signal. they seem to have some sort of information stored within them. Ill try to decipher it. did the diary say anything about this?"

She was reading it even now. Whomever had written this had an internal monologue fit to give odd dreams to psychologists.
"It's nearly incoherent, but there is a running theme." She has moved to the center of the room to keep far away from Victor, and to keep a bit of an eye on Izzy in her peripheral vision as she read the moldered tome under the messy spray of light from her torch.
" 'The angels and the damons have been at war for centuries and were thrown out of heaven and locked away here in the caticomes of the church forever frozen in stone.' Well this here is clearly wrong then because it sure as hell did not last forever. Maybe all we need are some damons. Isn't that who you were at war with Izzy?"

"Sorta, you ever hear those tales about gremlins sabatoshing planes during world war 2?" said Izzy. "However I don't think we need to call them." Said Izzy as he scanned the stone columns with his sonic pen. His eye's widened in horror. "These beams are connected to the ones above us in the church. there transmitting some sort of signal." Said Izzy observantly. as he sat deep in thought trying to figure out just what sort of signal it was transmissible
"Look at you Sarah Jane. I bet you read allot of Nancy Drew when you were young." Said Victor making a witty observation about Sara Jane. "You know there was a time when he and I used to do this sort of thing. You should have seen him in those days. you think you know Izzy Smith, you think you know what sort of a person he is. Well you know what girly, you don't know anything... doesn't he remind you of someone"
just then the lights in the cavern began to flicker on and off as a slow and eerie pounding began outside the door. it was the Angels. it had to be...

"Izzy, won't the damons just kill you when they show up? I hate to be a party pooper, but it sounds pretty drastic."
Victor had the gal to talk to her. She shined her torch directly into his creepy eyes.
"And you must have watched a lot of Soap Operas on the Telly, Victor, if you think you can confuse me one bit about whose side I'm on. Nancy Drew would have been more useful to you, but apparently you're not much of a reader if you've let the madman who wrote this be your guide."
The dim lights began to flicker.
"Izzzyyy??" She questioned nervously. "Whatever you're doing, do it faster." She sounds nervous for the first time, and she flashes her torch around the room, at the doors, looking for other nooks and cracks.

"The angles are draining the power!" Said Victor.
the doors would keep them at bay. for now. but soon they would break threw the doors. and burst into the room when it was dark and they could feed on Sarah Jane and Izzy.
It was then that Izzy realized something familiar about the Technology in this room. "wait a second frozen in stone."
"Sara Jane this is a crono-displacement chamber!" Said Izzy, "Sara Jane you ever see Brigadoon?"
He went about flashing his sonic screwdriver at the stone slab that housed the largest glowing rock in the room. He was trying to boost the signal knowing now why the Angels did not want them in this room.

She shrieked and ran to Izzy with the sound of the first stone bang on the door.
"Oh, Izzy, you and your movies." She said looking wide eyed at the glowing stone. "Whatever, if I have to jump on it, or walk though it, just so long as we don't have to tunnel under it. But what about Father Car Salesman? Take him or leave him?"
She was hoping that somehow this would involve a kilt for Izzy. Cousin or not he was easy on the eyes.

"Yes me and my movies but I assure you that I do have a good analogy for it." Said Izzy as he removed one of the heavy marble stones to revel the complex circuitry. "You see in the movie Gene Kelly, (marvelous dancer by the way!) and Van Johnson stumble upon the village of Brigidoon that exist outside of time and space. for them 100 years passes in a day because time moves much slower for them."
and that's exactly what a crono displacement chamber did. it froze things in time making it the perfect prison allowing whoever was inside to exist outside of time.
"If you unhook me I can help." Said Victor.
Izzy looked at him and regretfully he was right. they would need all the help they could get. he gave his sonic pen to Sarah Jane and said. "Unhook him."
The lights flickered again. and the darkness lasted a bit longer this time. time was of the essence.

She took Izzy's sonic from his hand, searching his eyes a moment to make sure he was thinking this through. He seemed to be.
She walked, head high to where Victor was hitched. She looked him hard in the eye. If he knew Izzy Smith, then he knew not to get notional. "Are you going to try to trap them again? We could use Victor as bait." She came in close enough to smell his expensive cologne. Some vow of poverty. She loosened the link around his wrist with the sonic and pulled it open.
The Angels were pounding at the doors. They were sturdy old things from the age of Iron and hand to hand battle, but soon they must give.
