The Dark Lord, acting as part of the Time Council, arranges to have the Doctor's TARDIS pulled off course.
4th and SJ think they are elsewhere and pop out in the thick fog on a rocky planet that is never a good sign. There are Beacons throughout the universe, and one in the cold dark corner of New Splot has gone out. Little backwater place. The TARDIS is sent there without them, and they must go by Time Ring (or Vortex Manipulator) to fetch it from the right time and place. Which is also where the giant, now crumbling crystal waits now an object of worship in a temple. The Doctor has to go in and put the new one in. Say the size of a loaf of French bread.
Here is the rub. The Dark Lord interfered with the history of this place and invented a religion a hindered years prior or so built up around Sarah Jane's youthful likeness that paints her as a rather dangerous God that must be sequestered away and contained. Worse yet, things may be out of even the Dark Lord's control, and they wind up wishing to sacrifice her.
Perhaps the Doctor leaves her in the town, goes to the temple, sees the Wild and slightly bad/evil/ statue of Sarah and runs back to find of course she's already gone. He must find her before the TARDIS blows through and they miss it. I don't know how long it would be, days, hours, whatever pleases.
Dark Lord, you would play the opening scene with us, and then go after Sarah in the Village. She'll recognize you, but has nothing to do about it. I'm going to pretend she doesn't recognize Alec later in Thrill. It was a long time ago, and maybe you have a fancy hat on or a mask or something.
Questions, comments concerns? Do you need me to come up with names of planets and things? And I'd like to start on the TARDIS before we meet the Dark Lord if we can.
I would like to call it "Message In a Kline Bottle" and by nature of the way it goes, I don't know that I should post first, but I could.
