Nodding she let it be known that she had heard him but concentrated on Alec and the Meddler had to say. Apparently she was not the only one confused about the shadow proclamation, and she found it kind of weird.
When they re-entered the control room it looked a lot more inviting and comfortable. Joining in on the laugh, Adagio listened to the explanation for what exactly was going on. Sitting down in the recliner, she felt how soft the chair was and smiled. "Thanks ma'am, Meddler might have a problem with the change but I think it feels very homey. I love it."
Adagio stuck her tongue out at the Meddler and looked around the Tardis. She had no idea if the Tardis had a name or if she would even listen to Adagio, but she figured she might as well be nice and say her thanks to the Tardis.

Alec sighed at the Meddler's ignorance. "I'll have to lend you my copy of 'Shadow Proclamation for Dummies.'" Alec smiled, "I heard they made a hardback."
He continued smiling, hearing Adagio "talk" to the Tardis. "Where did you two meet? I at least attempt not to ruin people's lives. Except for Jenny's. It would be fun to ruin her life." he said. He understood how the words came out as he said them.
"N-not that you're going to ruin her life, our that I have any interest in ruining anyone else's!" he said quickly, "I'm just going to shut up now."
He shyed back away from the screen, sitting back against a comfortable chair in Tardis. "You're not so bad yourself." he said to his Tardis.

Shadow Proclamation for Dummies? Adagio would have to read up on that sometime. Sitting and listening to Alec, she could not help but to laugh at what he had to say. Her life was not exactly ruined, but it was weird thinking that she was probably the last human in the universe.
"We actually just met today. We were both playing instruments for a wedding." It was a boring explanation, but not everyone could have interesting encounters all the time. "Ah he's not ruining my life. If anything it's just a little more interesting." Smiling, Adagio looked at the Meddler. "Plus, it's been a long time since I experienced space travel."
Actually, she had not travel in space since her encountered with John. Of course, it had been a lot less worrying when she left the Earth with John, but she would not miss out on this opportunity for anything.

"I'll have to lend you my copy of 'Shadow Proclamation for Dummies.'" Alec smiled, "I heard they made a hardback.
"If you don't mind," he replied. "It sounds like something I should be aware of."
"Where did you two meet? I at least attempt not to ruin people's lives. Except for Jenny's. It would be fun to ruin her life." he said. He understood how the words came out as he said them.

"We actually just met today. We were both playing instruments for a wedding," was Adagio's answer. "Ah he's not ruining my life. If anything it's just a little more interesting." Smiling, Adagio looked at the Meddler. "Plus, it's been a long time since I experienced space travel."
"Technically, you still aren't experiencing space travel - not in any conventional fashion, anyway," the Meddler said, sitting in the wing back chair. "But I take your point."
The landscape was dark, illuminated by faint discharges of purplish aurora and actinic lightning, and here and there by the reddish glow of cooling lava. Low things - more fungus than plant and more deep sea vent thermovore than either - clung to the friable soil and the clumps of boulders, broad, flabby pads held close to the ground. They were colored in blues and violets, and magnificent to behold if you could see into the ultraviolet.
There was a faint wheezing, groaning sound, followed by silence. Nothing seemed to change for a moment, and then a door opened in the side of one of the large boulders. The Meddler stepped out, crunching the powdery soil and sending small puffs of dust into the air, and breathed deeply.
The air was dry and warm, and stank of rotten eggs.
"Yith," he announced, throwing his arms wide. "Home of the Great Race, in this era."

(OOC: Hello. Bet you didn't expect to see me, of all people. Anyway, I was just going over this, as, in The Meddler's words 'you take the high road, I'll take the low road.' or something like such. Anyway, I was thinking we should intertwine this thread and Deadly Games a bit more. possibly by having the Daleks try to ambush your team, and having my team learn of (and try to stop) it. Just an idea.)

(OOC: That might not be a bad idea, down the road a little further. Let's see how things progress, first.)
The Meddler tapped his foot in the friable soil, sending puffs of grey dust into the sulphur-flavored air. "C'mon," he called. "We've got a bit of a walk ahead of us, and I'm sure the Cu- the Great Race is watching two TARDISes arrive on their world with interest."
He paused to retrieve a tube of what looked like Mentos from his pocket, and swallow one. "Time's a wasting, and the air isn't getting any better smelling."

Adagio was tempted to be childish and comment how this planet smelled like farts, but she did not bother. She had no idea if the group was being watched and she would rather not get everyone into trouble.
"So, ah, is there any specific way we should address the... uh, the Great Race hen we meet them? I'd hate to do anything that might hurt our chance of getting back the Earth."
She had the urge to grab the Meddler's hand for comfort, but instead she held her own intertwining her fingers. She was acting like a damsel in distress when she knew that she should suck it up. She had moved out at a young age into a new place all by herself, she could keep her head up on this adventure.

He could see Adagio's face wrinkle in disgust as she stepped from the TARDIS. But, to her credit, she didn't complain. "So, ah, is there any specific way we should address the... uh, the Great Race hen we meet them? I'd hate to do anything that might hurt our chance of getting back the Earth," she asked.
The Meddler thought about that. "Not really, no. Just be polite. Respectful," his face twisted, as if there was a bad taste in his mouth. "They're communistic - almost eusocial - so they don't really have a hierarchy to speak of. They have titles, but those are more descriptors than anything else. Warrior-Engineer. Agronomer-Chemist. Things like that."
He paused and handed her the candy roll he was holding. "Before I forget, eat one of these every four hours. It'll counter the effects of the radiation."
"Anyway, just use your best manners and you should get along fine." He looked around, impatiently. "Where is Alec? I thought we'd managed to synchronize landing timesites. If he doesn't get here soon, we'll need to go without him. The sooner we're done with Yith, the happier I'll be."

Adagio gave the Meddler a surprised look and quickly took the candy that he offered. She had lived near Oak Ridge when she was younger, but she still held the utterly impossible notion that she might grow another head or get three eyes if exposed to too much radiation. Well, that and die of course. Popping the little candy in her mouth, she swallowed.
"Haven't the foggiest love. Maybe something happened. I'm sure he'll be here soon though." Adagio at lest hoped that he would be there soon. She really did not feel like losing anything or anyone else today. "I'll be on top behavior promise. As long as I don't get insulted a lot at least." If the people they were going to talk to repeatedly insulted her she had no idea what she might do.

Alec got to Yith just after the other two. Stepping out, he waved. "Looking for me?" he asked.
The Timelord walked over to them as the Meddler explained things to Adagio. "Actually, you must split your fingers and chant 'live long and prosper' to every Yith you meet. If you don't, they might...phazify you." he said sarcastically.
He demonstrated with his fingers. "It could get messy."

The Meddler smiled. "They might appreciate that, actually. If it was sincere, anyway. Although I'm sure one of their Anthropologist-Archivists would want to grill you for an hour about why a representative hominid from early Information Age Sol-3 would choose that particular mode of greeting in preference to one of the more common greetings of your culture."
A laugh. "They really don't have much of a sense of humor. Strange, then, that they didn't get on better with the High Council."
He turned, and surveyed the horizon. "Anyway, we've got a few miles of walking ahead of us. Is everyone ready?"

Adagio simply gave Alec a disbelieving look. She knew that he got the reference from Star Trek, and she highly doubted that she was supposed to use it. "I think I'll just stick with a courteous 'hello' of some sort."
Smiling, Adagio shoved her hands in her pockets to keep from fidgeting and shrugged. "I'm ready. The sooner we get there the sooner we get my home planet back. I can't go wandering around the galaxy forever after all. Well, unless I could find a permanent space." Adagio had a feeling that the Meddler would not want her sticking around for the rest of her human life. If she had to live without the Earth she would prefer to have a permanent home base.

"I think I'll just stick with a courteous 'hello' of some sort."
"Probably for the best," the Meddler agreed. "Although you can always fall back on the universal greeting: 'Bah weep gragnah weep nini bong'. I have it on reliable authority that it works every time." His perpetual grin remained, giving no indication whatsoever how serious he was.
Turning, he shaded his eyes with his hand and scanned the horizon.
Smiling, Adagio shoved her hands in her pockets to keep from fidgeting and shrugged. "I'm ready. The sooner we get there the sooner we get my home planet back. I can't go wandering around the galaxy forever after all. Well, unless I could find a permanent space."
"There's plenty of room on the TARDIS," he replied, distractedly, "and I know she likes the company. But we can worry about that later. Working on putting the Earth back is probably the best starting point."
The gravity was slightly lighter than Earth's, making the walk feel like less effort than it might have been. That helped compensate - slightly - for the thin, dry, sulfureous air. And the omnipresent, grey-black dust that was carried on the thin breeze and kicked up by their footsteps.
By the end of the first mile, when the unlikely trio had reached a broad road of vitrified stone and soil, they were all wearing grey. Whether they had been originally or not.
The Meddler cleared his throat. "Should be easier going from here," he croaked, then produced a water bottle from his inside breast pocket. He drank deeply, then handed it round. "You can see the city from here."
The city, at this distance, appeared to be a vast assemblage of geometric forms - blocks, cones and cubes and arches and domes, strewn together. The arrangement was awkward-looking, seemingly chaotic and yet with a pattern and order that defied human comprehension.
"Less than half an hour now, would be my guess."

Alec winced. "Star Trek was bad enough, did you have to throw in a Transformers reference, too? And from the old movie? That was so old they considered 2005 the 'distant future.'" Alec complained.
He suddenly had flashes of his past...with the Meddler there...Meddling. "Uh...don't give the Great Race your ID man, it's easier that way. Oh by the way, next time you see me, give me this." he said, tossing the Meddler a roll of tape.

Looking between both the men she was walking with, Adagio sighed. Both of them seemed to want her to embarrass herself. Was she working with children or something? Smiling and simply shaking her head she continued on.
She was glad that the Meddler offered her the opportunity to stay in the Tardis, but he was right, they would worry about that later on. "So is that what you guys do? All of time and space and you chill out watching movies?" Adagio liked movies, but she could not really imagine wasting her time on them when she had a whole universe to explore.
"Then again though, you guys have the time to do it don't you." The Doctor had said they were time lords, they lived for a long time. She wondered if they ever got bored of living for so long. The city before them was very intricate and it made Adagio want to check over her appearance one more time. "Thirty minutes. Ugh!" Sulking slightly, she went on with the little group hoping they got to the city soon. The air really smelled bad and she was starting to find it hard to breath.
