Name: Seren Ash - The Archivist
Age:24(Human Identity), 900 something (Actual age)
Species:Human - Chameleon Arched TimeLord
Planet of Origin: Gallifrey/Earth(Alternate Identity)
Occupation: Professional Writer
Physical Description:
A slim woman that has a rather delicate appearance. Her posture is perfect - back straight and small shoulders held back, her head up straight. But her stature is merely 5'2'', giving her such a petite appearance, she is often mistaken for a child. She carries herself with as much dignity as she possibly can. Which may lead to some difficulties - to be honest. People may overlook her too easily.
Her body is slim and rather delicate in appearance, but it holds a firmness to it that belies that soft and delicate nature. There is a nice even muscling of fine whipcord muscles - all across her frame. Mostly focused on her legs. So whereas she might look like she was small and defenseless, she has a defense if it's needed. Not that she actually likes to fight often, but will if she must.
Her face holds a rather delicate look to it, something fine and pretty. But holding a beauty all on it's own. Some wouldn't call it' beautiful - the kind of woman you can only remember when thinking back on a room. Actually it's hard to remember her in general, but when you do - it seems most remember her as a beautiful human being. Or whatever their tastes may be. A fine and pertly shaped nose, high cheekbones - and gently arched brows. A firmly rounded chin, all add into her appearance.
Her eyes are one of the things that is easily remembered. They watch you - constantly. Burning into the soul and mind - of whoever she is around (At least that's what this description says, don't take it literally. XP ). There coloration is not unlike a copper penny. A bright and shimmering brown, with hints of copper tones to them. Edged in dark brown all around the outer edge of the Iris, her eyes rather make or break her look. At least in her opinion. These are kept hidden behind firmly planted glasses. A small ovoid frame made out of a black metal, and lenses that are rather thick. Obscuring her vision partially - until she takes them off.
Her hair is cut in a rather straight forward manner, with bangs that frame her face. Most of the time her hair is pulled back in a bun. So one cannot see the full length of her hair. This length actually reaches her waist, but due to circumstances (it getting messy all the time) she can't control - she keeps it in a bun. Her hair is a rather normal color, just a soft dirty blond. Not quite brown, not quite blond. Just sitting right there in between.
Her clothing usually tends to be whatever is comfortable to lounge around and write in. Usually plain black slacks, and a white dress shirt, get used for formal events. Whereas just lounging around happens to consist of sweats and a tshirt. Not very elegant or formal, but she prefers comfort over formality - when she is writing or reading.
Always within her pocket - is carried a watch. An old ornate watch, that her parents say is the only inheritance she has from her real mother. The only thing they have not given her, nor will ever take from her. This is on her at all times, hidden away - so none can see.
Personality:
Seren Ash -
A kind and rather gentle woman - she has a habit of volunteering her time to the Children's hospital, and reading them the Children's books that she has written and had published. Seren's spends a lot of her time working with those children, and making their end days rather happy. Since the Ward she works in is dedicated to children with Leukemia and Cancer. Now one would find this rather admirable, but it does have adverse effects with woman's psyche.
She doesn't like gaining attachments, having grown up in a household with money - her parents were always gone. People in her life were shallow and she knew this. She was an intelligent child that hid herself away in novels, and writing. She knows the darker sides of human nature, and because of this trusting is rather difficult for her.
Soft spoken and rather well mannered - she will rarely break against the mold of the 'perfect daughter' her parents set for her. Because they were the ones that raised her and helped her prosper. She owes her life to them, and she will gladly follow any of their mandates. They were fine with her becoming a writer, because it was a profession a 'Proper Woman' could still run a household while doing. Plus, take into effect that her writing grabbed people and made them happy - they were rather proud and amuse to say that they were her parents.
That is until you get to the real thick of things. Her parents are NOT her real parents. In the privacy of their home, the secret between them is thus - her 'mothers' best friend left Seren in their care, because she was dying. Asking the couple that couldn't carry a child to full term, to care for her daughter and raise her. Her real mothers name is Libby - but she has no idea what her fathers name is.
This secret leads her to further not trust people - who have not earned it. People that try to force her to trust them, end up getting the brunt of a rather cold stare. For the woman so gentle with children, has no tolerance for deceiving adults. She doesn't show her cold nature often, and does try to indeed carry a smile as often as possible.
She does get angry - when it is needed. Her anger is something that she is afraid of, hence why she tries to keep such a supreme control over her emotions. Her anger gets away from her - when she finally loses her control, and she usually regrets the after effects.
The Archivist-
A rather cold and calculating woman. She was more analytical then emotional. She spent most of her time in the Libraries, and guarding the knowledge that the Time Lords had kept as written words. She was a brilliant woman that preferred books over people, and was usually found with a thick tome under one arm.
She didn't trust easily - because of the nature behind people. Though she never really made it known - she had been in love once, and had been scorned. So she spent her time on her job, on knowledge. The power of the mind. They occupied all of her thoughts.
Though she was always rather ready with a smile - she always had a long and distant looking her eyes. Like she would rather be back with her books, then speaking to the people around her. Though she was indeed rather well spoken, her words could get sharp when someone was trying to act like they knew more then her. Though this didn't apply when people actually did know more then her.
Though she never had any children of her own, she rather did enjoy caring for other children. Having special story times just for the young ones. This was when her only bit of softness came out - around children. She had not found someone to love again, nor had she any children of her own. So the children of her people became her own children. Getting the love and affection that she herself couldn't give to others. For fear of being broken again.
There has only been one person her whole life, that she will ever trust and love unconditionally. It causes distrust in her Chameleon Arched self. That would be the Doctor. He was her sweetheart in the Academy, and she loves him dearly. Always will, but their paths parted, because of her work and because he had a child with another woman. She took it as a bit of an offense, but she will always love him. Someday she hopes they can work things out.
History:
Seren grew up the adopted daughter of two well off people. Born into money - everyone treated her life like it was sunshine and daisies. But Seren always had this feeling that things were not always what they seemed. But she never had proof of it. Growing up her parents made sure she understood what people were really life. Doing their bast to give their daughter a healthy dose of skepticism. So that she could survive in the world around her.
She grew up a rather sheltered childhood, she didn't play with other children often. Because she was more often with her studies then everything. Books were like water to her. If she didn't have a new one as often as every other day - she felt like she was withering. As soon as she could read, that was all she did. Being a good student - only furthered her parents approval of her.
Her childhood really didn't have any unnatural events to it. She grew up without any issues, and when she was twelve her parents told her about their friend Libby, who was her real mother. Whom had told them she was with child, and would be dying soon - they had tried to offer her money for the hospital, but she said there was no way around it. She said the child would be left on their doorstep - after delivery. That there would be a letter, a watch, and a book.
The letter, book, and watch were given to Seren on that day. The Letter simply said - "Never trust, never reveal. Keep the watch with you at all times. You will know the time." of course, Seren had no idea what that meant, considering the watch looked like it was rusted shut. But it was the only item she had that connected her to 'Libby' so she kept it on her at all times. Her parents spoke often of their friend, the woman that had brought them together - and helped them get the life they now had. The book was something that Seren never could read, but it had a pretty cover to it. She keeps it in her room, locked up and safe.
Seren's teen years were difficult, and because she was more focused on books then anything - she never interacted with males like other girls her age might. She found that books were a better companion then anything. So when she was eighteen, her parents started introducing her to men. Having her go out on dates - and encouraging her to find the 'right one'.
Seren had no interest in this, and threw herself into writing her children's novels. The stories of a funny and captivating world. Were time held no true meaning. Were all the girl really had to offer the world. Asides for other stories about angels and spacemen. Things that were fantastic and captivating for the children that read them. This has been her life, up until recently when her parents finally introduced her to a man she actually liked.
They are dating and she is doing the best she can to trust him enough - without thinking in the back of her mind, that somehow he isn't what he seems. -He is actually just after her parents money, and has no real interest in her as anything other then a trophy wife.-
The Archivist -
When she was born into her first regeneration, she was born into a loving family. Her parents cared for her and nurtured her mind and body. Hoping that she would be of a use to their people in the future. The young woman turned out to be rather cold and calculating towards peers - and kept to herself mostly. Though she would smile, and often, she lost her mood if someone showed that they weren't who they appeared to be.
When she was brought forward for her deciding, her choices in life to be made. She didn't run, but she doesn't remember what happened. She remembers waking up - to find herself back in her parents home. After that she started to attend the Academy - to learn all she could about herself, and her home. She took on the name "Archivist", for she was constantly within the confines of her peoples Library and archives.
She knew more about books then people, to be honest. Hence why she didn't trust people, because you could read books easily. People were so much harder to read. Trust was hard to earn with 'Libby' as many ended up calling her. Throughout her school years, she was rather shy. She was constantly harassed and bothered. Then one day, while late for her morning class, she ran into Thete. The Doctor.
They spent a year dancing around in circles, then finally Thete asked her out on a date. He stood off to her father, and their love was known from that moment out. He was the one that she was going to love forever, and she wanted to be with him forever.
She grew into a fine woman, and continued her work in the Library. She did this for as long as she could possibly remember. Then - that dreadful day arrived. The day that she found out that her Thete had found another woman, had had a child with another woman. It was painful, and it felt like an utter betrayal. But she understood, she understood completely. She was constantly busy, and she turned to her books. She would always trust and love him, and she continued to see him. Despite the child and the eventual Grandchild.
Then it came, the darkness had fallen. The Time War had come, the one between the Time Lords and the Dalek's. Libby died her first death, while trying to defend her Library. While doing what she felt she was supposed to do. Her regeneration came painfully, and when she was back she threw herself into the War. Guarding her Library with a vengeance and fighting beside the others. She wasn't happy to do so, but the creatures were after her books - her knowledge.
During this time, another Time Lord came to aid her in the defense of the knowledge she was guarding so fiercely. She fell for him, but when he revealed to her that he had no interest, it broke her heart. After what had happened with Thete, it was hard for her to heal. But she knew that eventually, Thete would be back. He would be there.
She pushed The Time Lord away from her, and threw herself into the war fully. She lost another regeneration to this war - before she figured out what she was going to do.
She was going to take the Cowards way out. She set a destination to where she was going to go, ran away from the War - like a coward. She wasn't that well known - and many had vanished. She took one tome with her, written in the language of her people. Detailing the events that she had witnessed in her lifetime. The knowledge from tomes and books - that she felt should not be forgotten.
And she ran. She ran like a coward, because she didn't want to die. She had seen the start of her planet dying, and she didn't want to die with it.
Unfortunately this had unforeseen side effects. When she arrived - it wasn't her destination. And she didn't know what to do there. That was until two young people picked up helping her. They were around the age of what her regeneration appeared to look like. She became friends with them, and trusting them. Helped them get together and helped them flourish.
She was there each time Jennifer lost a child, holding on to her friend. She also knew that her time was running short, she couldn't hide forever. Because she could sense something - she didn't know what - was coming. She told her friends she was dying, and she was with child. She wanted to leave the child in their care, with the belongings she cherished most.
So one day she left, and set it up for the Chameleon Arch to happen. Her current regeneration looked barely over sixteen or seventeen, so it was pretty easy to set up a new life as her old Companions Daughter. Before she Chameleon Arched herself, she left a message for him. For the Doctor, and sent it to find him. Because she had locked her TARDIS on to his, and she knew the message would reach him.
Thus ended her time and memories as The Archivist.
