OOC: It's okay Blue, I know you don't mean it personally. The name calling means that I'm doing my job right! He's meant to be annoying and antsy right now. Every class needs a problem child. ^_^ Please, everyone, feel free to call Josh names! I don't mean to upset to you all and I know you all don't mean to upset me either. (I hope anyway!) Josh leered at the teacher's offer and compliance. This was going well- he liked it when people played into his hands. He had no idea how childish he was being; his mind was set on something so he'd get it. He'd done it since he was a child and always did it when he felt uneasy. The minute his parent's attention shifted when his little brother Sammy had been born, Josh had immediately tried to get it back. The second he was neglected, he made sure it changed. Any interest was good. At least people knew he was there... Seriously considering the position of pilot, his ego inflated itself a little bit more. He could easily handle the position. Being a leader wouldn't be a problem and ordering people around was easy and being in control was fun. He felt like Mr. Invincible! It was only when another one of the teachers (Robin) spoke up that Josh really took notice of what was being said. He listened intently, a look of contempt glistening in his Thyrolian eyes. The flames of anger inside of him raged as the tutor spoke to him. "I suppose you could leave." he paused. "And I suppose Malcolm could pursue you. But really, what's your benefit for leaving? Think about it. You could be out roaming the streets, scratching out a living with your native intelligence and a smattering of off world tech that you probably lack the resources and training to adequately repair if it glitches."His bravado seemed to fade at this point. The educator was making perfect sense and was reminding Josh of one his personal problems. Josh had a real issue with the way he was and he tried to bury it quickly but the man was right. Josh's own intelligence and tools alone were not enough to support him, never mind the rest of his family. He was never quite enough to carry out the job and earn any money, he always needed help from someone else if the family got in a tight spot... "Or..." he said, making an expansive gesture, "You could stay here. Pick up sciences and technical training from a dozen different worlds. Hone that keen Thyrolian intellect to razor sharpness. And then..." He spread his hands. "The sky is then no longer the limit."This teacher's argument was quickly appealing to Josh. The man made fair points and offered a lot to him. Knowing how to use all the different technology would be so useful! But it also reminded him of his 'problem'. He muttered to himself, "What intellect?"He scowled. Back home, from birth, you were separated out. You were either brainy or a fighter and you either had muscle strength of the power of intelligence. Josh knew he had neither. He'd fallen on the muscle side of the two at birth but he'd never been any good at it. He knew fine well, at least, Thyrolian society had told him so, he'd never be very smart either. That was the way it was and it did not change. Josh had become stuck in a rut. Now, at the present, he was stuck between the two of the best. Gunman and Aubrecht. He was wedged between the brains and brawl. Gunman was his age and she'd already achieved so much! Douglas was already an established surgeon, a true genius. Against them, Josh always felt inadequate. The teacher paused. Josh had already looked down, his teeth grinding against each other. He scowled. "Or you can go back to living on the street and dreaming of the past glories of a ruined civilization. Your call. Josh clenched his hand into a fist. Giving a look up to the teacher in question, he replied quietly. He didn't seem as agitated, the attitude toned down a bit. "Fine, fine, I suppose you've got a point. I'll stay..."He murmured, admitting defeat slightly. "I could do with the education..."He turned his head back, his eyes a little softer. He'd been taken down a few notches by this man's logic. "But, let's get this straight. I don't live on the street, I live in an apartment. I'm not homeless and neither are any of my family... we look after each other... and we don't dream of our past lives, we try to make it here."The calmer defense measures were coming into play now, his attitude dropping slightly. He still wanted his phone calls home, but, he didn't think pilot was for him. His invincible moment had passed. The doubt moment was coming into play... He'd take another job or wait until they were all gone. Noticing that the tutor he'd insulted and the blond girl had left, Josh wondered where they'd gone. Only the little boy was left. Even then he looked a little frightened, Josh could only guess that the little guy was a bit shaken. How could he not be? This space station was kind of scary. And Josh knew that he himself hadn't acted like the most welcoming of people... Before wandering over, Josh gave both of the men a quick apology. He bowed his head slightly and mumbled, "Sorry. I'll quit bugging you now. Thanks for the phone call offer, by the way."He then walked off, slightly less confidently than he had before and went over the lonely English-looking kid. He didn't get too close, he figured the boy might be a bit skittish. He could only have been a couple of years older than Sammy. Feeling a bit of sympathy for the kid, Josh went and stood next to him. Leaving a bit of distance between them, he gave the boy a small wave, trying to sound friendly. "Hey. Do you know any of the other positions available? I didn't read the sheet and I wasn't paying attention when they read them out... if they read them out."He hoped the friendly conversation attempt hadn't failed.

"Not Medic." Frankie said very quickly. He wasn't sure what half of the other jobs were, but the one thing he knew there was that he shouldn't be allowed to be around the wounded. The weaker members of the pack so easy for a carnivore to pick off. All his instincts railed against that sentiment, so he knew he'd made the right choice in saying it.

Josh raised a ginger eyebrow at the child next to him. The little English kid was not very open at all and was very uneasy. There were something a little off with him. He'd blurted out one of the available jobs but had said not before it...
The Thyrolian didn't quite understand? Did "Not Medic" mean that the job was taken? It seemed so. He'd run with that. The short guy might have been good at first aid, Josh wasn't sure. In fact, everyone was strangers around here. He barely had any information on them; a name, job and appearance at maximum. It made him feel quite uneasy. To know the enemy was a great advantage- he didn't know who the enemy even was here.
Moving toward the English boy a little more, Josh fiddled with his necklace, before speaking again. " 'kay, that's cool. So you've got that one, what's left for me to take?" He tried not to seem nervous, stroking his necklace. The pendants were old and scratched but he still loved them. It had been a gift from about 2 years ago, on his birthday, given to him by his little brother, Sammy.
He waited patiently for another reply, from anyone that could answer his question...

Frankie jumped when the other boy spoke, honestly looking like a cornered wild animal for a second. When he did manage to speak, it was very quick, almost panicked. "No! I meant... I- I don't know what I want to do... just that I don't want to be the medic."
He cringed a little bit, then tried very hard to look like he wasn't afraid. He wasn't used to being around so many people, that was a big part of the problem.
But then he remembered the 'good manners' he had been taught, and with a nervous glance at Blue, Jenny, and Josh, in turn, he mumbled quietly, "I- I'm Frankie, by the way. Nice to meet you."
He didn't really mean it, it was just words he'd been taught to say. This situation was not nice, it was uncomfortable and intimidating... and he didn't know any of them well enough to determine if he thought they were nice or not, either. Still, he was willing to give it a chance, otherwise he'd never even have come here in the first place.

(Sorry, camp and what-not. Also I have to say sorry for my bad spelling ahead of time, not my normal internet browser.)
The redhead stood there, watching the gathering of teachers and students in her little corner, it was nerveracking to say the least...so many people here, too many maybe? She saw the jumpy boy,(Frankie) the odd teachers, the kid who had been talking to the teachers(Josh) and she saw someone she already knew. It was Jenny, such a pleasent person. This calmed her mind, which had been racing the entire time with questions and possible things that could go wrong...very vague thought mind you but still...it had been there.
Emerald eyes moved over around the room again and again, scanning hte list for possible jobs...but how could she pick one when there were so many options? Tess watched carefully, so closely that she'd zoned out and hadn't heard the list of taken vs open jobs. She watched the jumpy boy who looked to be about a year older then herself....well a year older then she LOOKED
Sarah Jane had encouraged her attendence to this place, it was a good place to meet new people and be herself without her manorizims seaming...off. She began to wonder if Luke would be there...or if Sarah Jane would make an appearance at some point and really hoped so, or hat least hoped she would see more of the VERY limited list of people she'd met and liked. New people were..odd, unpredictable.

Josh noticed the boy jump and backed off a step. Taking the step back, he listened and turned back to him, laughing slightly as he did so. Scratching his neck, he looked away awkwardly and spoke. He was a bit embarrassed. "Oh, right. Sorry. Thought you meant the opposite..." Josh heard the greetings. The boy had manners.
Walking back over to him, he stood next to him again and outstretched a hand, smiling. "Joshua, nice to meet you too Frankie. Call me Josh, though... only my mom or my best friend use my full name with me- and only when they're mad at me. Ha ha..." He couldn't believe how awkward he was being. His hand hovered in the air, waiting for the small English kid to take it or decline it.
Josh's eye wandered over to another ginger person in the class. He took her in, looking at her up and down. She looked pretty harmless, she was only scanning the place. Josh noticed, she looked about a year older than the kid he was offering his hand to.
Josh raised an eyebrow and turned away, looking back to Frankie. Apart from the blond girl who'd left with the teacher he'd got off to a bad start with, he was the oldest there. He was not setting a great example...

Jenny realized that she hadn’t given the teacher or anyone else for that matter, her name. “I’m Jenny,” she said as she waited for the boy to make a decision as to what he wanted to do, what job he felt that he could handle and perform to any degree.
The sounds of the discussion behind her were starting to grate on her nerves but she tried hard to completely ignore it. She managed it well enough that she didn’t notice when it stopped and when the young man came over to stand on the opposite side of the younger boy at first.
She noticed that he gave the younger boy a wave and Jenny decided that maybe he wasn’t a complete prat after all.
“There are the captain, the pilot, the environmental support technician, the medic, the space walker engineer, and the Communications/Interwebs for Satellite Positioning jobs left,” Jenny said to the older boy almost word for word from what the teacher had said only moments before.
“Nice to meet you to Frankie,” Jenny said with a easy smile at the younger boy. So he has a problem with being responsible for any medical responsibilities. Jenny couldn’t blame him, taking care of screaming and bloody patients didn’t exactly excite her either. It just wasn’t the sort of excitement she was looking for. Now flying around at the speed of sound during a dog fight, now THAT was an enjoyable pass time.
Jenny took in the small crowd and her eyes were drawn to a familiar face in the crowd. Jenny couldn’t help but to wave at her once upon a time adventuring partner Tess. Oh the trouble that two of them could get into, the possibilities were endless.

Blue watched the exchange silently, leaning against the table. The little boy that he wanted to hug did not want to be a medic. The annoying boy – who wasn’t actually being annoying now – was named Josh. The blonde that was the co-pilot was Jenny. The not-medic adorable little kid was Frankie. He took in the interactions and noticed the red-haired girl in the corner watching them all. He smiled awkwardly, feeling just as out of place as the students. Mingling with other creatures had never been too high on his leisure list – so how he was going to teach them without having a nervous breakdown, he really didn’t know.
But he’d been accepted as a teacher, so obviously Sarah Jane thought he had at least a tiny spark of something that was useful.
“Nice to meet you, Frankie, Jenny, and Josh,” he said, a wide smile on his lips. If someone didn’t know better, they’d think it was genuine. “I’m Blue. Easy enough to remember, eh?” he told them easily, glancing around to the other teachers nervously.
He slid off the table and straightened out his uniform. “Jenny, you’re the co-pilot. Frankie is most definitely not the medic and will never be the medic in his life,” he said, trying to remain solemn, but a grin cracked through. “And Josh? Have any idea?” he asked

The red head looked over at the group still, watching htem and caught Jenny waving at her. She smiled slightly and waved back, glad to see someone she knows. Emerald eyes scanned the area as quickly as they could before moving foreward toward the group. "I think....maybe pilot?" she said, a bit unsure if it was ok for her to BE the pilot...maybe someone else wanted the job? If so she'd have to think of something new.
Looking at Jenny, she reached into her poket and pulled out the small sphere, with its somewhat transparent look, the communications ball she had kept, Jenny had hopefully kept hers as well. "This will be fun right?" she asked half stating the obvious. Realizing she'd forgotten something she frowned unable to remember what it was she'd forgotten to do.
Then she got it, when she teacher Blue had intorduced herself she remembered she had not done so yet herself. "I'm Tess." she said, confidence shoving it's way past the nervousness.

Malcolm was getting a bit...he didn't want to say bored. He was a teacher, he was getting, well, he wasn't getting payed, but it was still a job. Sarah had tasked him with finding a pilot, and if one didn't pop up soon...
"I think....maybe pilot?" asked a redhead.
Finally, Malcolm thought, At least Robin didn't scare everyone off. "Could I speak with you?" he asked.
She started speaking to the blonde, asking if it was fun. He held back a smirk. Fun wasn't -quite- the right word. Obligation was slightly more correct. He would never say that of course. He just stood there, arms crossed, leaning against the wall. Blue was long gone with the brilliant one who had chosen to be Co-Pilot.

Robin leaned against the wall, watching, trying to work out why he'd let Sarah coerce him into doing this.
"Of course it'll be fun," he answered Lutessa, completely ignoring the fact that the question hadn't been directed at him. "Learning new skills. Pushing boundaries. Uncovering the mysteries of space and time." He glanced through the open door at the training centrifuge. "Getting spun in circles at high speed. You can't buy fun like that."

Flynn strode through the doors, his hands in his pockets, a tune on his lips, and bright smile on his face.
He walked over to Jenny and Frankie.
"Hello!" he says rubbing his hands together "I'm looking for....." He stops and pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket and looks at it.
"....Frankie and Josh, I'm to determine who is the better mathematician, that person will receive the job of....." he stops looks at his paper again then resumes speaking. "......Communications/Interwebs for Satellite Positioning, the other will get......"
He once again looks at his paper.
"......Environment/ Space walker. Oh Sorry My Name is Flynn, Flynn Delta I will be the School's Drama teacher. Nice to meet you." He extends a hand to each of them.

Josh gave the new teacher a funny look as he wandered over. This man seemed too happy, a little too eccentric-
He quickly withdrew the look. His best friend was eccentric, he shouldn't have been so quick to judge. He cussed inside his head. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her?
The teacher hummed a happy song and smiled his way over. Stopping by the group, he beamed. Josh stood quietly. "Hello!" he said, rubbing his hands together. "I'm looking for..." He stopped and pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, inspecting it. Not meaning to, Josh pulled a face. This guy was a little too cheery for his liking.
"Frankie and Josh, I'm to determine who is the better mathematician, that person will receive the job of..." Josh gave a look of momentary horror at the mention of his name. The same face was pulled again at the mention of maths. He was no good at maths- not human maths anyway. He shuffled uneasily at the pause. "Communications/Interwebs for Satellite Positioning, the other will get... Environment/ Space walker. Oh, sorry, my name is Flynn, Flynn Delta. I will be the School's Drama teacher. Nice to meet you." He extended a hand to each of them.
Josh stood, his hands folded. He could practically hear Gunman in his ear, ranting to him about how rude it was not to accept a handshake, backed up with a rant from his mother. Uneasily, he raised his hand to meet Mr. Delta's...

She'd been watching them dither about and wrench at their hearts for a while. It was really all part of the plan, but sometimes it was just time to move. Space X had given her Internet Access for the day. She switched on sound and video.
"Hello everyone, I hope you're enjoying the day. I'm glad most everyone was able to make it to this first outing where we can all get to know each other. Now what I need is for people to report to their equipment and begin training. Whomever chooses communications et, all, please follow Mr. Delta." She winked. "Remember, keep your eye on the blue and green ball we call Earth."
She switched off immediately. Mr.Flynn and the chosen student were expected here.
While inside on the display, they had to track Earth through this journey.
