Diamond landed on her feet, blinking in shock. This was her third time on this planet, why the heck was she so drawn to it? She fiddled with that ring on her finger and blinked, staring around her. She padded forward on her soft paws, and flapped her wings, and happened to be swooping through the air, when she spotted something that looked like a vase. It looked pretty, so Diamond flew down to look. She heard footsteps and turned, still in the air, to stare at the person(?) behind her. "Is this yours?" she purred, motioning to the vase. It was in English, though she could speak many languages. She was still floating, though she flapped her diamond studded wings so that she sailed up to the same height as the person, though one of her emerald eyes was on the Vase. She liked it, and if it wasn't the persons, she would probably take it. OOC: I was thinking she found his Lamp though didn't keep it.

Blue curled on the couch, the remote to his television on his left side, and a bowl of ice cream on his right. His stray cat was curled on his lap, kneading its paws into his thighs. He smiled and took a bite out of his ice cream, watching the news with a vacant expression on his face. He wasn't at all interested in human news, but he was a creature of habit and schedule.
And his schedule included watching the human news. His day was very predictable: he got up, brushed his human teeth, went to work in his work uniform, went to the sandwich shop for lunch, went out of work, picked up his ramen-noodle dinner, fed the stray cat, and ate ice cream and watched human news with the stray cat. It wasn't the most exciting life Blue could think of, but it was enough for a simple Djinn.
His schedule did not call for the telltale tugging that he had felt so many times before. His eyes widened and he cursed silently, not having enough time to prepare for the motion sickness the Djinn felt when he was summoned to his Lamp. He stood up, running with Stray Cat under his arm to let her outside. And then it happened; his world tilted as he was flung to the Lamp.
He landed rather ungracefully on his knees. Blue looked down at the ground, focusing on one spot unil he could see clearly again. Once his world cleared, he stood and brushed grass off of his sky-blue pajamas. He took several small steps blindly, more out of instinctual knowledge of where his Lamp was than confronting the person.
"Is this yours?"
Blue looked up at the cat, and his eyes widened. This was the first time his Lamp had been found by someone that wasn't human. Especially someone who didn't even resemble a human. Unsure of whether he should turn into his cat form out of politeness, he remained still. "It's called a Lamp, and it summons me," he said.
Not his best explanation, to be sure. He rubbed his head sheepishly. "I'm a Djinn," he explained further, smiling. "And the person who finds my Lamp is my master. In return, I grant them wishes."
There. That was better, but she was mistaken if he was going to break out into some cheesy song from Aladdin.
ooc| sorry that took so long. P:

"So, does that mean I'm your master?" Diamond asked curiously. "Wishes, huh? Sounds fun. So it's kind of, but not exactly, like a genie? Except you don't have a bottle, you have a lamp." Diamond had heard a lot of human stories about Genies and their bottles, and so had become very interested. Soon, she had been good at making up stories of her own. If she ever knew somebody with children, she could tell them stories. She thought hard. if she was this person's master---mistress, actually---then she would get wishes? Okay, that sounded fun, though she wasn't stupid enough to ask for silly things like another load of wishes. That was childrens behaviour, and Diamond was 16, nearly 17. Not a child at all.

"So, does that mean I'm your master?"
"Yes," he replied, with a low bow. "I belong to you until either you or I die," he explained. He thought about going over preliminary rules, but decided internally that he would go over it with the cat later. She seemed sensible enough. Besides, it was easier for his masters to exploit loopholes if they knew of the rules beforehand.
Djinn didn't have a standard code of conduct except for the obvious: no wishing to rule the universe, a Djinn could not commit genocide of any kind, and he couldn't give out the location of another Djinn's Lamp. It was up to the individual Djinn for certain other rules. Blue had very few other rules; it was better just to grant the wishes instead of listening to his masters complain and try to come up with loopholes.
"Wishes, huh? Sounds fun. So it's kind of, but not exactly, like a genie? Except you don't have a bottle, you have a lamp."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Most Djinn count Genies the same as Djinn. Originally, Genies were the offspring of Djinn and humans. The Genies weren't as powerful," he explained quietly. He wasn't sure if he was coming off as a pedantic prick yet, but he decided to continue. "Genies were very popular back in the early centuries of humans. They could only grant three wishes, and their Lamps were actual lamps. They didn't get more modern as the times wore on, like a Djinn's."
"Genies don't exist now. Or, they aren't as popular as they were. There was a scare when a Genie went evil and tried to overthrow the Djinn power. But that's ancient history," he waved it off with his hand smoothly.
He smiled at her. "As my master, you must give me a name and tell me to take a certain form," he told her. "My previous owner told me to be a cat, for example."

Diamond smiled. So she was a master now. Cool. She was thinking of a name as Blue explained to her about Genie's,and the Djinn species. She considered, and she spoke a few seconds after he had finished. "Well, I think you should take the form of a cat, so we're sort of the same." Diamond began. She considered a little more, and thought of a name she liked. "And your name, while I am your master, will be Joe." Diamond told him, smiling. She licked her par and washed her head slightly, and then waited for Blue to talk, or react, or change, or whatever else he might possibly do.

Blue turned into a cat obediently, yawning patiently as she turned things over in his mind. He didn't mind being a cat. It reminded him of his time with Mattie. All the times that Mattie would swoop him up and squeeze him too tight and giggle about what a cute cat the Djinn was. A small smile crept up on the cat's face - well, as much of a smile as a cat could muster. "I enjoy cats," he said softly.
Not like he would have disagreed with her if she told him to turn into anything else. He wouldn't disobey his mistress over something as petty as a new form. His third master had forced him into the form of a fly. Blue hadn't enjoyed it, but it wasn't an owned Djinn's place to voice negative opinions.
"And your name... will be Joe."
The cat's brown eyes widened, and he laughed loudly. "That's a certainly unique name," he said, once he got over his initial laugh. He giggled. He had gone through an assortment of names, from Giovanni to Adriana. But never had he been dubbed something so mundanely unique as Joe. "Then I will respond to you as Joe," he said, lowering his head in quiet submission.
"What should I address you as, Mistress?" he asked softly.[/size]

Diamond smiled. If he enjoyed being cats, he was someone she rather liked. She considered for a few short moments when he asked her what he should address her as, then she smiled to him and replied gently. "You may call me one of these: Mistress, or Diamond, which is my name. It is entirely up to you, Joe." Diamond told him softly. She was softened inside, too, though she was never hardened. She liked Joe, and if she was his Mistress, she wasn't going to be bossy, nor anything else, merely treat him as an equal, like everybody should. They should not make him their servant and just act like he is flith, and only treat him like a nobody. She smiled to herself. That was not the way, and people like that were horribly, cowardly beasts. That is why she was smiling.

"You may call me one of these: Mistress, or Diamond, which is my name. It is entirely up to you, Joe."
Blue stored the names in his mind, saving them for later use. He stretched languidly, wondering vaguely if he had turned off the stove of his apartment. "Thank you, Mistress," he said softly. He sat down and watched her. His tail twitched expectantly as he waited for her orders. The first day was always the hardest - so many wishes they thought of.
However, she didn't say anything else. Blue frowned, slightly worried. His humans had never wasted time; but this wasn't a human. Perhaps this cat thought she had all the time in the world? Or perhaps she did have all the time in the world.
"Excuse me, Mistress, but... may I grant your first wish? Or would you rather do something else?" he asked uneasily.
