I'm okay. And you really don't have to do that. I'd be just fine sleeping on the floor if needs be.
He frowned. "No," he said, brushing that off with a wave of his hand. "Here on Earth, the host sleeps on the couch while the guest sleeps on the bed," he informed her. "Anyway, I've slept plenty of times on the couch." He shrugged and leaned against the wall of his hallway.
I was wondering... are there any places nearby where I could acquire spare parts? My TARDIS seemed to be having some problems with... some important systems... when I left her.
Blue crossed his arms. Did he know of any places around that sold spare parts for a machine that was bigger on the inside? "It's doubtful," he admitted. "But if they aren't too specific to a TARDIS, there may be hope."
He didn't sound hopeful.
"If you go back to your TARDIS and find out what those important systems are, we could go out together and look for replacements. There are a lot of stores for spare parts, but that's mainly for Earth technology."

Thinking very carefully about it, something sprang to mind, "Duck tape." she announced, "I do believe one of the rumours I have heard at some point implied that something called duck tape could help."
((OOC: 1: I'm quite sure it's actually called duct-tape. 2: no it won't help much, but it never hurts to have duct-tape around, just in case. 3: this rumour was probably about the Doctor... though since we have enough insane Time Lords running around, it could have been almost any of them really.))

Duck tape. I do believe one of the rumours I have heard at some point implied that something called duck tape could help."
Blue looked at the ceiling, pinching the bridge of his nose. He had been coming up with complex, genius ways of getting super obscure alien technology. They had involved blackmailing the aliens he could smell around the city. Another one of them had involved embezzlement, his Djinn powers to his advantages.
And the woman wanted duct tape.
He nodded slowly and walked into his kitchen, pulling open a drawer and handing her light-blue tape. "Does the color matter?" he asked, a tight smile on his face. "I have silver and green, too," he pulled those out as well and handed them to the woman. "You can go on a fixing bonanza now."

She stared at the tape carefully, and then laughed, "I need to hunt down whoever told me that rumour... once I remember who they are. Sticky tape has its uses, but it will definitely not be enough." She picked up the silver tape, and smiled at him, "Thanks. You know, you're a really helpful individual." It was really hard to tell if she meant that in an I-like-that-in-a-person kind of way or an I'm-going-to-take-advantage-of-your-generous-nature way.

Blue's smile remained plastered, tensing as he put the tape back inside of the drawer. Oh, what was his life? He rolled his shoulders and lifted himself to sit on the counter. "I thought that was a rather strange thing to need for something as complex," he admitted, crossing his legs. "Maybe their problem wasn't the same as yours?" he suggested, trying to give the unknown loon the benefit of the doubt.
Thanks. You know, you're a really helpful individual.
"Yeah, well, that's what I'm here for," he muttered, tapping his fingers against the counter. A life of slavery tended to make someone used to helping others. His species were created to be servants, underlings, minions, and slaves. He couldn't be anything if not helpful.
He cleared his throat, rolling his shoulders again. "Any suggestions now?" he asked.

"Well... you make a good point about checking just what I need, before going looking for the parts." she said carefully, "I think I usually just KNOW, but right now..." she shook her head, rather irritably. "I want to go back and check, now. Kinda makes me uncomfortable to be away from her for too long, when she's sick."

Blue nodded. He couldn't understand the affection she had for the machine, but he could understand the emotion. He had felt that sickening worry when Blue had to be away from Mattie while the man was still alive. "Then why don't you go check now?" he suggested lightly, smiling.
"Do you want me to come with you, or do you want to go alone?" he asked, sliding off the countertop.

"I think I've put you out quite enough, friend." she said with a smile, "And you look a bit tired. I'll go alone. If you still want to help me, I'll be waiting in the morning." she added, in a tone that made it clear while she might appreciate the company, she'd be just perfectly capable figuring something out on her own if necessary.
With a polite bow to him, she turned and left the apartment.

He gave her a smile. "I'll see you in the morning," he told her as she left. He slumped against the counter and sighed. "You're going to have to work on your people skills," he told himself quietly, grabbing the discarded grocery bag on the table and throwing it away.
Blue opened the door for the stray cat and sat down on the couch, curling up with the kitten in his lap. He pulled his coat and tie off along with his socks and shoes. "I'm going to sleep forever, kitten," he muttered, hugging the soft furry body to his. "Sound good?"
The cat squirmed, clawing Blue's arms in her fight for freedom. With a heavy sigh, he relinquished her. She glared at him and lay beside him.
"Cats," he muttered.

An hour or so later:
Amnesia was quite a selective problem. She remembered every single step she had taken from the TARDIS to the cafe, and from there to Blue's flat. She retraced them perfectly, finding the old tree her ship has impersonated standing precisely where she left it. Looking like something with roots had its advantages against thieves.
She quickly ran up to the TARDIS, but hesitated before opening the door. She got the feeling she was being watched, though she had no idea if this was accurate or mere paranoia. Better safe than sorry, she looked around her very carefully, checking for anyone- or anything, Blue's feline form has taught her- that may be observing her.
She didn't see anyone.
Her eyes did, however, land on an ornate vase lying on the ground, almost as incongruous as the spaceship her TARDIS has appeared to be, though far less dramatic for it.
She frowned slightly, instinct telling her that nothing so valuable in appearance should be left just lying in the middle of a park. Memories from 'swag' to 'cultural treasure', depending on the reason to take, flew through her mind. She was just too curious for her own good, she figured, as she quickly strode across the grass and picked up the valuable-looking artefact.

He had been dreaming about tomatoes, but what about tomatoes was missing from his mind. Blue had a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with fairies as well, but that wasn't of any consequence. What was of consequence, however, was the queasy feeling that gripped his stomach, threatening the devoured tomatoes from earlier to make a casual reappearance.
Blue didn't open his eyes until his body landed roughly on the ground. He stared up at the stars blearily, thanking whatever deity was out there that Djinn healed faster than normal. He blinked slowly, disorientated. He got on his feet and brushed the dirt and grass as well he could off. His ribs hurt when he took a breath, but he decided that was because he was still winded from the harsh appearance. Really, he did need to learn to be more graceful about these things.
"Hello," he said, as per usual. He continued wiping the dirt out of his hair, and then glanced up to who had his vase. His heart sunk and his stomach twisted as he stared at the woman. He took a step back automatically, and looked down sheepishly. "That vase summons me. I'm a Djinn, and you're my new master. I grant your wishes until one of us dies. If you'll have me, that is," he informed her.
At least his new mistress was someone he knew.

She almost physically flinched when he used the word 'Master', and seemed not to be paying quite as much attention as she probably should have for the rest of his announcement. Still, she managed to catch the gist of it.
"I believe I followed what you just said. What you didn't say was why?" she asked him, curiously.

"I believe I followed what you just said. What you didn't say was why ?"
Blue stared at her, tilting his head slowly. "Because I'm a Djinn," he repeated. "A Genie.. sort of, not technically, that's not the point though. I grant wishes to those who own me. And they own me when they find my Lamp." He pointed towards the vase in her hands. "And that's my Lamp, friend."
"As to why the Djinn are owned by those that own the Lamps... I'm not sure. It's always been like that, ever since we can remember," Blue said, tapping his head. "I always feel much better when I'm under a master - or mistress - because..." Blue trailed off, unsure of why.
Although technically he had freedom while not being owned, it was harsh. The weight of his Lamp weighed on his shoulders regularly. He wasn't able to use much of his Djinn powers, which built up inside of him uncomfortably. But when he was owned, the Lamp wasn't an issue, nor was the building of his powers.
He cleared his throat. "If this makes you uncomfortable, or if you don't want to be around me for extended periods of time...?" he trailed off.

She regarded him carefully, "So you're saying it's in your nature to be owned, this way?" she asked him, frowning slightly. "Alright, then. Just... please don't call me Master. I don't like it, though I'm honestly not sure why."
She shook her head to dispell genuine discomfort that even the word instilled in her. 'Pirate', she took as an insult. 'Master'... well, that just scared her, for some reason.
"I do like you, and as long as you're happy with the arrangement, so am I." she said with an honest, if mildly bemused smile, "But I hope you will tell me, any time you dislike what I ask you to do, however trivial it is."

So you're saying it's in your nature to be owned, this way? Alright, then. Just... please don't call me Master. I don't like it, though I'm honestly not sure why.
Blue nodded. It was her first command, and he was not going to break it. Although know his names for her were back to 'friend' and 'that woman'. "Okay, friend," he said softly, watching her curiously. The word seemed to spur something in her. He opened his mouth to ask her if she got a memory back, but closed it promptly. If she had remembered something she was willing to share, she would tell him. And it wasn't his place to ask.
I do like you, and as long as you're happy with the arrangement, so am I. But I hope you will tell me, any time you dislike what I ask you to do, however trivial it is.
The Djinn gave another nod, unsure if that was a command or just a request. "There are a few things I can't do," he muttered, rubbing his arms. "And now it's your job as my ma--" he cut himself off and cursed under his breath "--friend to give me a name and tell me what form to take permanently. A dog, a cat..."
He turned into a parrot and flew over to her. "Or," he chuckled, "a parrot for my adventurous, swashbuckling comrade."
