Seren nodded, it seemed once her nervousness had passed - she was rather quiet. Her eyes focused on the task ahead as she held his hand. Running - while partially blind, would be difficult. But she could do it - had done it in the past. She gritted her teeth a little as she nodded to him, and just pressed her freehand over the watch in her pocket. Her lucky charm, it always led her to what was needed. She was always safe with it - even if this was the first time something weird had happened to her.
She followed him, her breath coming out even as they approached the parking garage. Then she took a long breath and began to take the stairs with him. Her feet stretching out as she tried to take two at a time, since she was keeping up with his stride, and the longer of a stride she had - the less likely she was of using up all of her energy. She was going to do this, she was going to get away. As soon as they started running she heard the growl - the hiss and dripping of something slimy hitting the ground.
It was running after them, she assumed. Probably sticking to the shadows - but it was still after them. darn, this was not good.

Jack clenched Seren's hand, half leading and half dragging her to the first doorway. The red wooden door was almost a foot thinner than the beast's wide shoulders, but the stairwell itself widened considerably. As their feet hit the concrete through the door frame, Jack heard the monster snarl and hesitate, before throwing itself after them, shattering the wooden door.
Jack was up the first set of stares in a blink, clenching Seren's sweaty fingers and shouting encouragements. They were up the last two flights easily.
Breathing heavily, the Captain leaned over the railing to see where the best was. It seemed to be investigating the steps cautiously, its wide paws too slippery to get a proper hold on the slick gray. Angrily, it looked up, its red eyes glowing, and let out an enraged roar.
Jack shuddered and backed out of the stairwell. "I've never seen anything like it," he said loudly, walking swiftly to his car and hoping Seren was following.
