The threat of war hangs over the Spiral Politic. The Time Lords of Gallifrey have guarded history since time immemorial - indeed, some believe that they created history. No external power has ever threatened them.
But that was before the rise of the Dalek Empire. Once nothing more than a xenophobic species of scientists from an unremarkable world, they have risen - some say through the influence of a renegade Gallifreyan - to threaten the nature of time itself.
And now, representatives of every major temporal power of the Spiral Politic have banded together to persuade the Time Lords and the newly-unified Dalek Empire to come to Archetryx, to settle their differences through diplomacy.
If the conference fails, it is feared, there will be war between the two greatest powers, and the Spiral Politic itself will burn.
