Feel free to jump in, Tomaith. Despite how the thread looks, it wasn't intended to be a solo thing.
We're probably at a pretty good jump-in point. The Master's about to get on a train for somewhere else (I'm thinking Cardiff, to explain his presence in the Torchwood board). He could be encountered on the train or upon arrival in Cardiff.
Alternately, if you'd rather be tracking him down (without knowing who he is, yet), that duodec stuff he used would attract the eye for any number of reasons. Here's why:
Duodec is a chemical explosive that's almost as powerful as an atomic explosive. It's from E. E. "Doc" Smith's Lensman series. People (human or alien) from the current time period would just see what appears to be an atomic explosion with no radiation. Analyzing the residue reveals it to be no known explosive. Mostly because it isn't invented until the 23rd Century.
So, yeah. If you want a reason to be tracking down the cause of that explosion, learning that it was the result of an anachronistic chemical compound would attract the eye of a time traveler.
