"Status report."
"All systems clear, sir."
"Very well, begin descent to Earth."
"Aye, sir."
A large spaceship floated in orbit above the Earth. It was simple in design, a large oval shaped body with two wings on each side in an X pattern with engines on each wing, and easy to maintain, unfortunately, the old girl had seen better days. This would not be one of those.
As they began their entry sequence through the Earth's atmosphere, The ship began to shake once again. Part of this was normal, yet everyone stayed on guard, just in case. Standing behind the helmsman was Lanku D'Certo, in his Captain garb. He was a feared pirate and known only by the name of Zero amongst his enemies and anyone who saw his wanted posters. Lanku held onto a side panel as the ship began to shake. Suddenly, a piece of the ship flew off and the turbulence became much worse. Lanku quickly said, "What was that?"
His Helmsman, Yakar Somont, just responded with, "Did you see that?!"
Lanku stared at Yakar and asked, "Was that the Primary Buffer panel?"
"It did seem to resemble the-" Yakar replied before being interrupted by Lanku again. "Did the Primary Buffer panel just fall off my ship for no apparent reason?"
A might jolt shook the ship before Yakar could respond, though he then said, "Looks like it, sir."
In disbelief, Lanku checked a few panels where he was standing, trying to find the cause of the disruption. He then began talking to himself, saying, "I thought Shala checked the entry couplings. I have a clear memory of it. What happened?"
Yakar spent the next few moments doing his best to keep the ship in the air, but he was worried and expressed his worries to Lanku. "Well, if she doesn't give us extra flow from the engine room to offset the burnthrough, this ride is going to get pretty interesting."
Lanku turned to Yakar and responded, "Define 'interesting'."
"Oh, god! Oh, god! We're all gonna die?"
The Captain sighed, walking over to the intercom system and sending out a message to the rest of his crew. "This is the Captain. We've had a slight problem with our entry sequence... so we may experience some turbulence and then... explode." He flicked off the intercom instantly and turned back around to Yakar, asking, "Did you shave the vector?"
Yakar yelled out at Lanku as he was leaving, "I'm doing it! It's not enough!"
"Well, just get us on the ground!"
"That part'll happen pretty definitely!"
Lanku trudged through his ship, barely able to stand during some of the jolts. He was on his way to the engine room, as he had a bone to pick with a certain mechanic. It took him a few minutes to traverse the area due to the violent shakes and jolts that rattled the ship. "Shala! Shala, what in the five balls of Kinnot are you playing at? I've got the Primary Buffer panel falling off my-"
Shala interrupted him, though, saying, "I've got it under control, Captain. Not to fret."
"You told me those entry couplings would last another week!"
"That was six months ago, Captain," Shala said, trying to keep the ship from falling out of the sky. Lanku became increasingly frustrated and wagged his finger at her, saying, "My ship doesn't crash! If she crashes, you crashed her!"
Yelling from the bottom of a panel she was fixing, Shala exclaimed, "Why don't you do something useful for once and stay out of my way!?!?!"
A small explosion off to the side of them cut off the conversation as Lanku ran back to the helm. Bout the only thing he could do now was make sure they crashed safely. He joined Yakar in the Co-pilot seat and helped him navigate the unresponsive ship down to Earth.
Course, at this point, about as much as they could do would be to crash in a body of water, which is what happened. It was a rough landing, with many small internal explosions happening afterwards. Lanku groaned as he sat upright, having been tossed onto the piloting computers in front of him. He said, "Yakar, you alright?"
Yakar groaned and said, "Yeah... I guess it wasn't really interesting, since, you know, we didn't die and all." He stared at the scanners in front of him and said, "Location is Earth, United Kingdom, Cardiff. Cardiff? What's in Cardiff?"
Lanku stood up and groaned again before saying, "I don't know, but you best get that cloak back up before we find out exactly what's in Cardiff.. the hard way."
The helmsman flicked a few switches but nothing happened. He said, "Well, it looks like we blew a fuse or three. The cloak isn't working."
Lanku was already climbing to the top of the ship to step out and look at the damage. "Well, hell. As far as landings go, we could have done worse. But the blasted cloak isn't working... Only a matter of time before someone shows up. What to do, what to do..."
He had to figure out something, cause people would start asking questions if he tried to keep his base of operations in the middle of Cardiff. Oi, what a day this was going to be.
