The Mentalist ran over the hills for miles, laughing away to himself. Others ran so slowly, they didn't understand the chase well. As he turned to look back once, he saw no-one following him anymore. The aim of the game was simple; it was to get away or catch the runner. The red-head found it odd that the guards didn't play along anymore. He'd liked that game. They should still have been playing though, he was told he was dangerous. Without all those nice medications, he could hurt lots of people, or so it had been drilled into him back at the psychiatric secure unit.
That place was no good. The treatment was useless to him and the guards were just insulting. Their incompetence to wards their job was almost offending to him! The hospital from before had been much nicer, he'd seen her there. Such a pretty girl, he'd liked her a lot. She'd helped a bit but then the secure unit had gone and ruined it. But it wasn't a huge loss. The secure unit played the chase game with him more often.
As he jumped over a large rock in the red hillside he ran down it, giggling into the night. Even though no-one was running behind him, he'd keep going, the adrenaline too much. Dodging through trees, The Mentalist bounded up one, climbing up. The splinters didn't really hurt, his boots hitting the branches hard. Winding his way up the silver trunk, he clambered out onto the top branch, hiding under the leaves. His head was low and hidden, his view clear.
He glanced around the place then had a proper look. The area was pretty empty, a few trees beyond this point and a road. He could see a signpost and a vehicle go past. He waited patiently until it passed, then jumping down from the tree. He dropped for a while, then hitting the ground with a thud.
"Whee. Well, that was fun... Time for more running."
Sprinting off, he ran over the field to the sign and looked at the directions. He could go left or right, either way was fun. To the left was the road to the citadel, he could go and terrorize the folk there, that could be fun but the right looked good too, he'd never been to 'Resfadert' before.
Turning to the left, The Mentalist bolted of, starting to laugh again. Bounding away outside was fun, he'd not been outside in a while! The air was so fresh and the sky was so bright, stars like glitter. He loved Gallifrey for that.
After another ten minutes of running, he felt the cold starting to nip at him. He looked to the nearest sign as he passed by and the miles that he had left to travel. He'd definitely lost the guards by now, they weren't that good at following him. Seeing that he had only 8 miles left to go, he decided to call it quits for the night, looking for somewhere to sleep. A lack of housing nearby caused him to look for the nearest shelter. The Mentalist found the biggest tree and decided it would be his best bet. Stopping by it, he climbed up it and went to the leafiest branch. Settling there, he hid himself well enough, balanced quickly and put his head down to sleep. He felt safe and knew the dual suns would wake him in the morning.
Little did he know, that 8 miles down the road, was a few branches of the Time War army and it's base. It co-ordinated certain attack plans out on the front and was far from a normal base. It dealt with the 'Special Branches' and selected the best fighters they could for them. Each soldier employed there was suited to a job that the regular soldier couldn't handle; whether it be expert information handling, expert information interception to creating strategies. Each branch also dealt with something but every branch had the same motto.
"Carpo vestri telum, vicius ut peto abysuss."
((Literal Latin to English; "Grab your weapon, time to go to hell." And excuse the quality, it's late. JOIN IN EVERYONE! ;D Make your own branch, soldier, whatever!))
