I thought this thread would be the ideal place to discuss people's beliefs in extraterrestrials.I will start.
My beliefs about extraterrestrials: I study biology so I have seen how life can start with simple chemicals coming together in the right way,to me it seems downright irrational that this could only happen on one planet.I honestly believe that there is life throughout the universe some simple some complicated. The reason we have no evidence is because of the time it takes light to get to us,we see a planet a billion lightyears away as it was a billion years ago, this is the reason why we seem to be surrounded by dead worlds.
Indeed there's probably a civilisation looking at a ball of rock and lava in our solar system that is obviously devoid of life, this is of course earth as it was billions of years ago.

and from a theological perspective, specifically coming from traditional Christian theology this would raise some questions -- about humanity being uniquely created in the image of God and also about whether or not the life on other planets would have the same gospel or a different one. The topic is certainly interesting -- because we don't have evidence either way...since we don't see it on another planet. That doesn't, of course, mean that there isn't life on other planets. I think a lot of people like the idea of it - hence why science fiction stories about space and aliens are so popular. Speaking of my perspective, even if there is other life on other planets, the whole universe is in God's hands, so He will not allow something to happen that is beyond His control. If He wants life on other planets, then there will be life on other planets. If He doesn't, then there won't be. Still, it would be cool if there were

It's funny, because I've read a lot of Celtic Mythology, and it simply just reeks of Alien life. Back when those stories were written they didn't even think of life outside of this planet, but when you read the lore with a modern eye you kinda start to believe that the Tuatha Dé Danann (People of the Goddess Danu, original name for faeries) are really just aliens. I mean, they supposedly came here on a 'çloud' and invaded Ireland. To read more about it go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuatha_D%C3%A9_Danann (wikipedia) Personally, I don't really have an opinion on whether they exist or not. I'll just keep an open mind for the chance that they do exist.
