Riocard Keâts didn't like the rain. It wasn't because it was wet or because it made everything sad; it was because the rain ruined his funness. He sighed unhappily and pressed his forehead against the cool glass of the building he was in. The staff had found him outside trying to sleep with a makeshift umbrella crafted by a cardboard box and a pair of boxers and told him that he was more than welcome to sleep on one of their couches. But the way they watched him made him anxious. He felt like a common homeless guy, and not at all like the adventurer he imagined himself to be.
He fogged up the glass with his breath and drew a smiley face on it, giggling childishly at the creation. The staff of the shelter (wasn't it Rio's luck to unknowingly sleep under the leaky porch of a homeless shelter?) had given him a jacket and a pair of rain boots, and he was itching to go out and splash puddles like a mad man. "I'm going outside!" He announced loudly, wondering if it had been that easy to leave the whole time. The man at the desk gave him a once over, and offered a pack of peanut butter crackers for the trip.
The rainboots were adequate protection for his feet. He wriggled his toes and found that despite running through the muddy and water-covered grass, his toes were still dry and relatively warm. The jacket was too large for him, and covered his body down to the knees. The sleeves hung down at his side limply, six inches too long for his arms. Although he wasn't short by most people standards, the way the jacket swallowed him resembled a child putting on their parent's clothes.
He jumped up and down in a few small puddles gleefully. "La la la!" He wasn't a singer. By no means had anyone ever told Rio that he should get a career singing. He sounded like the seagull off The Little Mermaid, but he could repress the juvenile urge to sing in the rain. He stopped his la la laing abruptly, and scratched the back of his neck, glancing around to make sure nobody had seen him. He grinned, wagging his head like a dog to make the water in his hair shake out. He ran closer to an empty rod to find more puddles along the sidewalk.
The puddles outside on the side of the road were like no puddles Rio had ever seen before. Pooled by the drainless concrete road, the puddle easily submerged Rio's feet. He stepped out of the puddle carefully, walked back twenty paces, and took a running jump into the water. The splash surrounded him in a forcefield of water for a few moments, and he looked around, taking a childish pleasure in the way the water had spread. He frowned, however, when he realized that he had splashed a girl.
Rio stepped out of the puddle, whistling innocently with his hands behind his back. "Euh, sorry about getting you wet, madame." He smiled sheepishly at her. ooc| this is thread is for Oracle! :3 other people can probably join later if it's all right with her.

Oracle stands there a second blinking some, "well...guess that was my shower for the day." she reaches up and wipes some water and mud off of her face and takes off her jacket handing it to him "here hold this for me for a second." she steps back a step and shakes her head and body getting some of the water off of her causing her red and purple hair to stand up unnaturally for a second before it goes back to normal she smiles "there much better." takes her jacket back from him and puts it back on "so....jumping into puddles?"
ooc: hey thats fine with me the more the merrier

He laughed. "Nice pun." He grinned, not knowing whether or not she meant to make it. Rio raised his eyebrows as she handed him her jacket. "D'accord." He replied, but had decided that even if he didn't consent to holding her jacket, he was doomed to it anyway. He was a gentleman, after all. Well, that depended entirely on how loose one's definition of gentleman was.
He chuckled at her hair. "You looked like a ginger Bride of Frankenstein!" Rio didn't mean any malice by the comment. It was just the way her hair had stood up, and the way the purple streak had gone through it. He relinquished her jacket back to her and shrugged at her question. "Jumping into puddles." He responded evenly, his lips twitching upward into a smile. "Never too old for puddles."
Rio stretched, the jacket shifting around him and the sleeves drooping until he could see his own hand. He bounced up and down in the rainboots. "I'm Rio!" He held out the sleeve towards her happily, and furrowed his eyebrows when he remembered that the homeless shelter had only housed midgets and giants. He impatiently pulled back the sleeve and held out his hand again. "Who're you?"

Oracle tilts her head a little at the Bride of Frankenstein comment and chuckles a little ” why thank you I’ll take that as a compliment.” she pats her jacket pocket pulling out a pack of M&M’s “heh no your never too old for puddle jumping.” she looks at his hand for a second hesitating before gingerly ”names Oracle….M&Ms? Nice rain boots by the way” she offers him some of the candy.

His mind turned off when she pulled out the candy. Well, to say that it turned off was an overstatement. Instead, everything that she was saying kind of faded away as he locked on the candy. His mind was buzzing with ideas to get the candy into his hand - which Oracle hadn't shook, so he felt a bit like a dunce. Her name registered into his mind, but the most important thing was that she had chocolate.
"Weird name." He commented, shaking his head lightly and looking at his boots to keep his mind off of the candy. "But I like it. Makes me think of genies." He was going to ask if she was a genie with childlike wonder, but then she offered the candy. And complimented his boots. Candy first, fashion later. He jumped up and down happily. "Candy!" He held out a hand, his smile so wide he was sure it was going to fall off of his face.

She laughed a little for a second then pours some of it into his hand her jacket riding up a little bit ”you know what keep the bag” she tosses the bag into his hand and tosses the M&Ms she had, had in her hand into her mouth ” heh you know I’ve actually never had anyone say that about my name… she smiles slightly ”gotta move, gonna get caught, need to find shelter before nightfall.” she pinches the bridge of her nose for a second then clears her throat ”so whats around here that’s fun?”

He popped a piece of candy into his mouth, watching her closely. When she tossed the bag towards him, he caught it clumsily. There was something on her arm that he had seen before when he had been working with drugs. He raised his eyebrow slightly at the needle marks. "Thank you for the candy!" He grinned happily. Maybe she was a druggie, but at least she was a druggie that was giving him chocolate.
Rio tilted his head curiously as she pinched her nose. Nosebleed? No, it was as if she were gathering her thoughts. "Fun?" He repeated slowly. "I don't know. I'm kind of new here myself." He pointed to his bag that he had placed beside a tree in his puddle-jumping conquest. "Everything's fun for me." He held up his thumbs, but was still inwardly trying to work out what she meant.
She had needle pricks on her arms - Rio hadn't ever done drugs himself, but his father had worked with people in the industry. She could have been a hospital patient, but she seemed to eccentric for that. And now she was asking for something fun? "Are you looking for drugs?" He put another M&M in his mouth.

Oracle shrugs “no problem I don’t need it anyway.” she glanced over at his bag and smiles shaking her head going over and grabbing her own book bag from behind a trash bin “ya I know how that feels.” she puts the bag back on strapping it securely to her back and looks up to his drug comment “drugs, why would I want… then it hits her “oh! Oh god no heh…thoses…are.” she doesn’t know how else to put it “are just a really long story which I guess you could say I’m still trying to escape. she shakes her head a little remembering for a second before shaking it off and try’s to smile some.

He put the M&Ms in his bag, stuffing them between his toothbrush and shirts. He had already eaten five, and he wanted to have a stash of them later. Finding candy in a bag was always a pleasant surprise. "Everyone needs candy." He sat down beside his bag, humming happily.
She knew what being new felt like? He smiled up at her. "I'm new a lot. Travelling." Travelling was one word for it. The other word - the truthful word was that he was a homeless guy wandering about in search of something to do. His bright smile momentarily flickered, and he put his head down, looking down at his bag intently, waiting for the gloominess to pass.
"Were you in a hospital? Is that where you got those from?" He raised his head curiously, standing up to approach her slowly. "Ah, sorry. I'm nosy. None of my business." He raised his hands in a non-threatening fashion and smiled broadly.

Oracle automatically tenses for a second when he approaches her then relaxes just as quickly “see this is why you can’t be around people, your dangerous.” Oracle pops her neck a little looking around for a second sighing “not by choice but yes I guess you could say I was in a hospital…or at least I think it was a hospital.” she rubs her forehead for a second then lowers her arm “it’s all a little fuzzy there at the end, I dunno.” she shrugs and shakes her head thinking back to the night she got out, the two men, the smell of electricity, the rain and then nothing.

Not by choice? Rio could tell by the way she was acting that it wasn't something he should pry into. The way she tensed and shrugged off the answer was a huge clue. "Okay." He smiled, deciding to drop the subject before Oracle ran off. He'd bug her later about her comments about being forced to something like a hospital.
"Well let's go find something fun." He pointed to a random direction and beamed at her.
ooc| erm.. to be honest, I really don't know. Is it going to matter very much?

He slung his bag around himself and tightened it, patting it against his side. Rio stuck out his tongue back at her and turned on his heel, walking off happily in a random direction. "How long you been here?" He asked, turning around as he walked backwards to face her.
He shuffled out of the jacket, stuffing it into his bag. The rain had slowed down to a dull drizzle, and the jacket was starting to make his claustrophobia tear at his throat. He stopped walking and raised his eyebrows at her. "Uh, my version of fun usually involves running from angry Russians while avoiding bullets." He waved vaguely in the direction of Russia. "We're not in Russia, or anywhere where I'm wanted." Yet.
Riocard bounced on the heels of his feet. "What do you think is fun?" He asked, uncharacteristically out of ideas. He had never been asked to provide fun before, although he was always having it. It was a mood he was always in, but he had never thought of it as tangible before. He rubbed his head slightly.
