The Doctor sighed, rolling his eyes. This Neku character reminded him of River Song. He had to wonder how the two would get along. Too bad that he was only 15 -- he might have been able to get River Song to be seduce the newcomer -- not that he really wanted River Song around anyway.
"If you're only fifteen years old, how did you figure out how to hack into Torchwood? How did you figure out how to build something that shouldn't even be possible for humans to comprehend -- not with the technology they have right now -- from just a few files? Even the people at Torchwood couldn't have known how to do this -- not unless they had a file detailing a step by step instruction on how -- oh....but that would be brilliant! They might have done that so that.....you......you would lead them right to me....to....."
He frowned. There was no way that a fifteen year old boy could figure out how to do all that and use alien technology and alien terms and do what no adult human had been able to do -- unless Torchwood were behind it -- and Torchwood would need the help of aliens for that.
He next turned his attention to Melody and nodded, trying to show that he did understand her situation. Her description sounded a bit too much like Torchwood for his liking. He knew that they might do something like that, or at least a faction of Torchwood might. He spoke up to Melody to try to ascertain whether or not he might be right.
"Does the name Torchwood mean anything to you, Melody?" He studied her carefully, waiting for some sort of reaction.

Melody got closer to the Doctor as the word Torchwood was mentioned. She didn’t know why she was doing it, just that she did. This kid was not making her calm, but increasing her uneasiness instead. She just didn’t feel comfortable around him. The Doctor seemed to make everything feel alright with her, but this kid did not. Her instincts were telling her that she shouldn’t trust this kid just yet.
Then the Doctor turned to her and asked her if the name Torchwood, as the humans would say, rang a bell. She clasp her hands tightly in front of her and tilted her head to think. She tried to remember where she had heard that name before… A distant memory came back to her, and her time of her first incarceration. She remembered a file with a name on it that she knew that was hers. The front had the Earth English letters T O R C H W O O D. She even remembered someone or a few someones mention that name. ”I remember a file on me with that name across the front. Then a few people might have mentioned it while I was incarcerated. Why do you ask?” She answered him and then asked him a question of her own.

"Look Doctor, everyone I ever cared for was dead, I was bored, I found a data storage system called "Torchwood". The security was heavy so out of curiosity I decided to hack it. In the system I found out about you, Gallifrey, the TARDIS, everything. I'd always been interested in theoretical physics so it made perfect sense to me." he smirked when the Doctor asked how he could build a disruption field on just a base idea, "Tell me Doctor, do you know what separates humans from other animals on this planet? Some say reading, or our capacity to split the atom, those are both wrong. What separates us is the ability to imagine, to dream. Let's just say I used a little logic and a little imagination."

Brittany looked at the man. She had been silent for most of the conversation and she could see that the girl was becoming a little antsy around the boy. She flashed a glare at him, but remained silent. She was not going to let some know-it-all little boy get in the way of anything. She tensed waiting to see what the boy wanted of her friend.

Neku looked to Brittany after noticing her glare, "If you dislike me because if my demeanor I'm fine with that, I really don't care if people like me anymore. But if you think I'm here to bring harm to any of you then you're dead wrong, I already told you that."

The Doctor shook his head, "No fourteen year old human has the brain capacity to build something that the employees at Torchwood themselves couldn't build. Oh, did I mention it....that organization was founded in order to rid the universe of me. Now, tell me the truth, you didn't really build that device on your own. So the question is, did you get the instructions when you hacked into Torchwood. There is a possibility that they had just figured out how to build the device, but did not want to build it themselves. That, or you are working undercover for them....which would mean that you probably have a way of communicating with them...."
He said out loud, addressing Melody's question, "There is a possibility that the people chasing you were with Torchwood....not sure which one, as there have been different versions of it in different locations....could be using a vortex manipulator."

Neku clenched his fist, "Two things: One, i'm fifteen. Two, I've already said I'm not with Torchwood! If you don't believe me then ask me a question, not just straight fact knowledge, something you need to think about. Sometjibg equally complex to the disruption field, to prove that I did it on my own. I prefer theoretical physics but if you want to go with math that works too."

The Doctor frowned at Neku, "Humans are great...brilliant, in fact....but that thinking is beyond what a 15 year old human boy is capable of. That's why I'm asking you properly -- who gave you the information. You may be smart, but you're not THAT smart."

"Why is it so difficult for you to accept that I could do it by myself?" Neku asked with a frustrated sigh.

The Doctor responded to Neku, "Because you are fourteen and could not possibly figure out something that the human top scientists haven't figured out yet...well....at least it hasn't become public knowledge if they have....and it wouldn't be something they would discuss with a fourteen year old....unless....unless they were using you."

Neku snapped back, "For the third time I'm fifteen! And who are you to say what I can and can't do?! I work alone, I always work alone because..." Neku choked up for a moment as he looked down, "Because whenever I get close to someone they end up dead." he looked back up, the fire reignited in his eyes, "My parents, my friends, Rachel, everyone died because of me! I had nothing left and I sure as hell wouldn't let myself get close to humanity again, I wouldn't let anybody else die. I work alone, I only work alone. You're insulting my abilites Doctor and I don't much appreciate it. Yes you lost your world but you found life in two things, you saved the universe from erasure and you can still be with the humans. I am sick of your demeanor Doctor, there is no excuse for your attitude toward me. You can't even ask me a question to prove my intelligence as I asked you, instead you insist that I'm working with others." he finished.

The Doctor, very angry with Neku now, raised his voice as well, wanting to repeat something that his previous self had said to Rose, but he didn't care. Most humans he could get along with, but this fifteen year old kid was trying his patience, especially since the kid had just yelled at him.
"You! You think the whole universe revolves around you! There are many brilliant humans, but you....you are full of yourself. More than that, you have no respect. Even I know that human teens are not supposed to react the way that you have with me. You do NOT have more intelligence than all of the other humans on this planet. I don't HAVE to think you're brilliant...so brilliant that you would figure out something that NO ONE else has, or will for a long time. I may not be human, but I do have experience with humans, and I know what a 14 year old boy is capable of and what he's not."

"And you think you're different? You insist you know the full capabilities of everything, and that if something doesn't fit your beliefs then it's impossible! You don't know everything Doctor, whether you like it or not. I can't believe I thought well of you before, you're not only narcissistic but hypocritical as well. I ignored the more rude things the archives said about you, but they were completely right! You think that previous actions balance out what you do presently! Just because you save lives on a regular basis does not give you the right to act like this. You're weak Doctor, weak and decadent. You've lived too long, you think you can do so much more than anyone else, but you're no better than anyone else! You think if something doesn't fit your beliefs it's impossible, but it's not! You haven't earned my respect, if anything you've proven you don't deserve it! I have never claimed to be more intelligent than 'all other humans' but you're claiming you know everything about Earth! You disappoint me."

Melody was having a difficult time trying to calm herself down. Since she now knew who had her parents and that they were after her. The increasing conflict inside the control room was not helping either. ”He never said he was different. He only said he was having a hard time believing your story. You know what? So am I. I suggest you calm down now, before I do something that I will regret later. Like lose my only chance and place of sanctuary…” She was very close to losing control of her thoughts that would create the spark needed for her to be engulfed in flames once more. She doubted that the Doctor would appreciate that in his clothes and ship.

The Doctor glared at Neku, "I am a Time Lord! Of course I'm smarter than humans. That is not up for debate; it is a biological fact. What do you mean, you haven't claimed that you're smarter than any other human!? You are claiming just that when you tell me that you came up with that thing...that device all by yourself, just from reading files."
He continued to glare at Neku.
When Melody spoke up, the Doctor calmed down a bit. "Now, I'm not claiming that I'm better than humans....humans and Time Lords...we are biologically different.....this doesn't make me superior to humans...it's just that....that my brain is....is different -- meant for holding more information than humans."
