Celestephemerhea had long since been registered by her father. However, he had left for his own duties shortly after doing so. Rhea had found fit that she could wander around, trying to introduce herself to the other newcomers. She could be rather shy in situations like these, though, and was having difficulty. She contented herself by wandering, but not too far. She certainly didn’t want to go somewhere she wasn’t supposed to. Since she was worried that she might break the rules, she eventually decided to sit down near the area of registration. She watched other children her age come and go.
Sighing, Rhea leaned forward and perched her head on her palm. As much as she hated to admit it, she was, well… bored. She didn’t want the Time Lords that were in charge to think that she wasn’t content merely by being there and waiting for the camp to start, so she tried to hide it. Her boredom was peeking, however, and she knew she had to find something to do before she let it show. Standing again, Rhea looked around. She started to walk off, still trying not to stray far, but trying to find something or someone of interest. She saw two boys walking together as she went onwards. Despite her anxiety, she rushed forward to greet them. “Hello there!” she called, clasping her hands behind her back and trying to seem friendly. She flashed them a smile. “My name’s Celestephemerhea, but my family calls me Rhea. What are you two doing?”

Nathan glanced at Koschei, clearly embarrassed when he heard a girl's voice.
Not having had much luck with the girls his age before, he didn't really know what to expect. He wondered how long she had been there. Had she watched him take off his braces and put them back on? Had she listened to any of their conversation. Not knowing if this girl would be cruel to him, he didn't really look at her. Nathan expected her to say something mean or laugh at him or just be mean. He wasn't sure if she had been one of the girls that he had met before.
He had had crushes on several girls, but they had been mean. He had taken to admiring girls from a distance, although he honestly did want to have a good friend who was female. He just didn't know if they existed.
Looking at the ground, he mumbled something in reply. "We're just going to my house."

When the boy nearest to her looked at his friend, Rhea immediately felt much shyer. Gone was her more confident demeanor of a few seconds before, as much as she tried to retain it. She felt horrible; here she was, trying to be one of great Time Lords of all those stories, and she was scared to talk to this boy her age! She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself and force herself to retain whatever courage remained. The boy looked so uncertain about her, and she wondered if there was something wrong with her. Did he not like her already? What was wrong with her? She frowned slightly as he looked at the ground and merely mumbled a response to her question.
Rhea forced herself to smile again slightly. She really wanted friends, didn’t she? Maybe he was just shy. Yes, that had to be it. Maybe he hadn’t been around that many girls before. Whatever the case, she wanted to at least try, even if it didn’t go anywhere. She looked at the other boy for a moment, wondering if he was as shy as this first. He hadn’t even offered his name in returned, just answered her question. Well that had to be alright… right? “Your house?” she said. “Is it far? We have to be here at seven…” She blushed, realizing that it sounded like she was inviting herself along when she wasn’t. “I mean, you two might be late.”
(I'm just going on for now, and Koschei can jump in whenever =) )

Nathan glanced back up at Rhea when the immediate response wasn't snickering or laughing or mean comments.
Somewhat relieved, Nathan chanced another glance at the newcomer. Realizing that she might want his name, he responded, "Oh...sorry about that...you can call me Nathan. My actual name is a lot longer. Um...no, my house isn't far....I don't think we'll be late. We still have a couple hours before then. Want to come along?"
Nathan realized that it would be rude not to invite her along. He just hoped that she wouldn't accidentally see his legs. He also knew that if this girl came along, he would have to wait to show Koschei how he walked without the braces.

When the other boy seemed pleased with something about her, Rhea’s confidence rose again. If she were older, she would have been upset that something as little as someone else’s approval could dictate her moods. But for now, Rhea was merely an eight-year-old, and that seemed perfectly natural to her. Though he still seemed shy, he at least announced his name for her. Nathan. He told her that he didn’t think they would be late, but Rhea was still a little skeptical. She didn’t want to get in trouble on her first day, after all…
Rhea glanced towards the other boy, then back at Nathan. She did want friends, and this Nathan was inviting her to his house. He said it wasn’t far. And if, for some reason, his version of ‘not far’ differed from her’s, she could just turn around and come back, couldn’t she? Despite whatever misgivings, her desire for friendship won out. She smiled and nodded her head, perhaps a little too eagerly. The boy still seemed a little worried about something, but she couldn’t figure out why. Maybe he was just so nervous around girls. “Alright,” she agreed and nodded forward. “If you really don’t mind, I’d like to come with you two.”

Nathan smiled, "I'm...I'm sure that I won't mind....but please promise me that you won't laugh at me when you get to know me better -- no matter what...."
With his bad experience with both girls and boys, but the girls tended to be nasty in a way that cut deeper than when the little boys were mean. He had his brother to play with, and now he had this Koschei. Although his hearts ached to be accepted and liked by other boys, he could get by with only having two as his friends. He had made it this far with just his brother. A sudden fear gripped him. What if he wouldn't make it into the same chapter of the academy as his brother or Koschei? And what about this girl? He hoped that she wouldn't really hate him because of his legs. Maybe he should just show them to her and get over with the torture. But then, again, maybe she would never find out. She might not have to know. If there was an alternative for her not to know, Nathan would take that.
Still, he wanted to see if she would promise him she wouldn't laugh or be mean to him. He knew that making a promise didn't exactly make it so that she wouldn't laugh. He just hoped that it would be less likely.

Rhea smiled. “Laugh at you?” she asked, almost amused. “Why on Gallifrey would I laugh at you?” Rhea wondered if that was what the boy before her had been so worried about. Why, of course she wouldn’t laugh at him! There was no reason for her to, anyway. Besides, Rhea wasn’t the rude kind of child anyway. She hated it when people made fun of each other, and she couldn’t understand why somebody would want to hurt someone else’s feelings. Was Nathan scared of making friends with people because some might laugh at him? She supposed she could understand. She was rather shy after all, and what for? Because she was scared that other people might not like her. It was quite similar, in the long run, what they were both afraid of. She smiled more at him. “I promise, I won’t laugh at you – no matter what. Well… unless you make a joke!” She giggled a little before grabbing his hand. “See? It’ll be okay.”
Rhea was surprised at how comfortable she felt with these other two little boys. Though she had mostly addressed Nathan so far, surely the other boy had to be alright too. Nathan was apparently careful about whom he was friends with, anyway, so he must be nice. Rhea flashed a little smile in his direction for good measure, then looked back at Nathan. Hopefully her promise made him feel better. He must have had some bad experiences with other children – perhaps girls, especially – making fun of him. She had no idea why; there didn’t seem like there was anything wrong with him, and even if there was, there was no way she’d be that mean to anyone!

Nathan glanced at Rhea, still unsure of how she would act around him. Could she tell that he came from a family that was low class? Maybe she assumed that since Koschei was with him, that he was also upper class? Rhea's promise did make him feel better, but only time would tell how she would react to his legs.
She seemed friendly enough, but what if it was all just a front.
When Rhea took Nathan's hand, he stared at her. No other girl had dared to touch him. "You....you really want to be my friend?" he asked her.

He was definitely unsure, this boy. Rhea could only nod emphatically. “Of course I’m sure!” she exclaimed. “Why wouldn’t I want to be your friend? You definitely seem like a nice boy.” She frowned momentarily. Why would he keep asking her that? There was definitely a possibility that he could be mean to her. That was why she hadn’t met too many others this morning, anyway. She didn’t want to be made fun of more than anyone else.
She watched him, hoping he was alright. Maybe someone had been mean to him earlier that day. Or maybe girls were just mean to him a lot. “Why do you think I’m lying?” she asked, still frowning slightly. “I was just trying to make new friends, is all. I do want to be your friend.” She offered another slight smile, hoping to convince him.

Nathan glanced back at Rhea, not really sure of what to do in this situation. How would she act when she found out about the braces? Perhaps if he showed them to her now then he could have his disappointment with losing a potential friend, and it would hurt less than if she didn't want to be his friend anymore after seeing them.
Nathan replied to Rhea, "Because of this...." At that moment he lifted up his robes enough for her to see his legs.
"And because of my family.....no one likes us....." he added. "My father is Tylerhathan....and....and we are not part of the high class."
Nathan waited for her, curious to see whether she would run away or remain there.

(Meta Crisis hasn't been on in over a month now. We can work his characters back into the story if/when he comes back. I think we can continue on with the story for now. I don't want this to be on hiatus forever.)

Tylerhathan glanced at the two librarians and then at his son. "Well, as things seem to have been cleared up here, I'm afraid I have to get going....I still have things to do...and it is getting later and later." With that, Tylerhathan walked off to take care of the things that needed to be done.
Tyler glanced at the little girl and his other friend.
Once Tylerhathan was gone, Emmehudjidat waited for his opportunity. He watched the man librarian walk back into the library. Now there was just the female one. How he wished that she would just get inside as well so that he could deal with the child the way that he wanted to.
(took liberties with the librarian that meta crisis was playing, since meta crisis hasn't been on in over a month and because that character was just a temp character anyway)

Nathan seemed to be contemplating something. Rhea raised her eyebrows at him and was just about to ask what was really wrong when he seemed to make up his mind. She watched curiously as he raised his robes enough to reveal a pair of braces about his legs. Her smile faded slightly, but out of sympathy for what she hoped was a newfound friend rather than it actually changing things between the two. She was just about to say something again when he went on to say that no one liked his family and that they weren’t high class. Neither of those things were something that Rhea could understand anyway at such a young age. Apparently her parents were important – or at least they said they were and other people went along with it. Rhea liked to follow rules that she was told and behave the way that she was ‘supposed’ to, but she never really liked the snooty way that her family could act. If anything, she might be more comfortable around the family of this Nathan.
She smiled at him to let him know that she wasn’t affected by this after all. That was what he must have been worried about! He thought that she would make fun of him for all the things that he apparently thought was ‘wrong’ with him and his family. “Your legs have braces on them,” she said, shrugging. “That’s not so big a deal. Well, I suppose it must be for you with running and stuff. But you can still walk and get places.” She thought back to what he had said about his family. “My family is rude. I bet they’re nicer anyway. I don’t really get that class stuff.” She looked at him, hoping that he would understand that she was serious. “None of those things really matter to me,” she added with a slight smile again, hoping that he knew that she didn’t think anything differently of her.
(OOC: We might need someone else to roleplay Koschei then?)
