"Koschei, of the house of Oakdown." He replied, flicking a lock of dark hair behind his ear. He looked at the smaller boy with interest. Nathan seemed very intelligent for his age, and he had always valued intelligence."Theta, hm?..Or Nathan, if you'd rather." Koschei smiled. They seemed to be getting along quite well for having just met. "Nice to meet you. Do you live near the Citadel?" He hadn't ever really been near the more middle-class residential areas, preferring to stay on his father's estate.
______ "I see. And do they have any medical conditions we should be aware of?" He asked, jotting down their names and looking back at Tylerhathan.

Nathan glanced curiously at Koschei, nodding at his question. "I didn't used to...oh and I'm originally from house of Lungbarrow, but we just moved here......to near the Citadel....my father's employer insisted that we move...."
"It's nice to meet you, too," he said smiling. This boy seemed to be of a higher class than he, and yet he had been welcomed openly by this other boy. Maybe the upper class were not all snobs. __________ Tylerhathan glanced at the man registering his children and nodded. "Yes--both are deathly allergic to aspirin. Nathan has crooked legs -- he wears braces on them....and Tyler has asthma."

"..Leg braces and asthma..." he repeated, writing the information down. "Alright. And do you happen to have a copy of their medical records with you? Just for archival purposes, you understand." As he said this, he flipped to another page and glanced at it. Nearly done; all that was left was to place the two children into a group for later. ___________ Koschei nodded at this. Lungbarrow..not too shabby. He smiled back at Nathan and tilted his head towards the registration area.
"Want to come with me while I get registered? You said your father's already taken care of that for you."

Worried that the registration person might have mixed the children up or combined them, as happened sometimes because they were twins, Tylerhathan reiterated what he had tried conveying before.
"Just to be clear, they don't both have the leg braces and asthma. Only Nathanufdofehadik has the leg braces. Only Tylerelrug has the asthma. Oh, and Tyler does have other allergies besides aspirin, but Nathan does not. One more thing, they were born naturally, if that changes anything about their medical records; they were not loomed."
Hoping that he was being completely clear, Tylerhathan nodded when the man had asked him about the medical records. "Yes, I do...here they are....and please don't mix them up. It's happened before." He handed the man the two medical records -- one for each child. "They're not even identical," he muttered to himself.
_________ Nathan nodded at Koschei, "Yeah....but I wasn't loomed." He looked down at the ground as he said it, hoping that Koschei wouldn't judge him for that. Other children that were part of Lungbarrow wanted nothing to do with him or his brother because of that. He also suspected other reasons. He didn't even know how his family was associated with it -- he supposed they were related to one of his parents.
Smiling at the other boy, Nathan nodded, "Yeah....sure....that would be all right. And yes, my dad is taking care of my registration."

Koschei looked at him curiously. "Not loomed?" He hadn't recalled asking about that. Still, he was curious; more curious than he was disgusted, and blinked at Nathan as they slipped into the crowd side by side, heading in the direction of a registration table. He'd never met a child who wasn't loomed before. "Really?" he asked. __________ The man at the registration table glanced up at this and nodded as he took the medical records. This was an unusual occurrence, but not completely unheard of amongst lower classes. Besides...it wasn't something that everyone needed to know. Just the medical staff, for check-ups.
"Right, then. That's all I need, thank you." He smiled up at Tylerhathan again. "Make sure your children are here before 7:00, so that they can be put into a group on time."

Nathan looked back at Koschei, "I know you didn't ask...but I thought I would tell you so you knew ahead of time....in case you didn't want to be my friend."
He frowned at the memory of children harassing he and his brother when they had found out.
Nathan nodded, glad to see that Koschei didn't see to be put off by the fact that he wasn't loomed. Nathan slipped right along side of his new friend, glancing at the other children or parents that were there. _______ Tylerhathan nodded at the man. "Thank you, sir. I will be sure that they are here at 7:00 PM."
Glad that the man hadn't asked for too many details, he nodded to the man, and then started walking away from the registration table. He had some other things to do in the capital, mainly related to his landscaping business, so he would get his children later. He had plenty of time, after all. ________ Tyler stood in the midst of the other children, watching the whole scene. Trying to make sense of the chaos, he stood at the edge. If Nathan had gone in, he couldn't see him. Being slightly smaller than Nathan, he was especially small for his age. His blond hair and blue eyes were a contrast to both his brother and father.

Koschei smiled at Nathan and ducked between a couple, running a bit and glancing back at his friend, laughing softly. The walk to registration would be boring if all they did was talk. So, he decided to make a game of it.
"Come on!" He grinned and waved to Nathan, beckoning him to follow as he slipped past several more people. _____ Rodaj stood off the side, watching with interest as the other children were registered. He still had several hours to wait before it was time for him to find his group, and he wanted to see if he could spot anyone he knew in the crowd. He was feeling considerably less anxious than he had been earlier, but was still a little nervous about meeting some of the other children.

Nathan could walk fine with the braces on his legs, but without them, he had considerable trouble walking. Running was a different situation, as he could do it pretty well with the braces, but not at all without.
Up for the challenge, he followed what Koschei was doing, but had some trouble with some of the moves that Koschei was doing. Thinking better than to attempt some of it, he simply ran in a more straight line. He wasn't quite as fast as Koschei, but he could keep up. ________ Tyler continued to look around until he spotted another little boy. The blond went up to Rodaj, but too afraid to really say anything. He would stand close to him for a while before working up the courage to actually talk.

Koschei smiled and laughed gleefully as he ran through the crowd, glancing back to see that Nathan actually was following in his little game. The other boy was, but wasn't following Koschei's actions exactly, as he had been expecting. Still, Nathan was catching up to him, and effectively too, in his straight-line path, and Koschei ducked between two older children. They would be halfway to registration by now. _______ Rodaj continued watching other children for a little while before he glanced up and noticed Tyler standing next to him. He blinked in surprise and smiled. How had he not noticed the other boy before?
"Hello..."

Nathan continued to follow after Koschei, but his legs were starting to hurt. For that reason, Nathan started to slow down a bit, putting more distance between himself and Koschei.
___________ Tyler smiled at Rodaj. "Hello," he answered in return. "I can't find my brother anywhere.....oh well.....so are you here for registration?"
Tyler studied Rodaj a minute, trying to figure out whether or not he thought that Rodaj would be okay with him. So far he seemed to be welcoming. Tyler knew that not all children would be accepting of the lower class, so he wasn't expecting nice treatment from everyone. He was, in all honesty, terrified of anyone on the High Council. One of the High Council members was his father's boss -- a particularly nasty man who treated his father horribly. Tyler had never liked the man, but he hadn't really been around him much. He just observed how the man had treated his father from a distance.

Rodaj nodded and stuck his hands into the pockets of his robes. He had been taught to never judge others, and certainly not those of other classes. His mother had been adamant about that.
"Yes...I've already been registered, though." He smiled nervously. "I didn't know what else to do, so I came here to wait. I don't know who's in my group, or where anything is..." He looked at Tyler again and blinked curiously. "Who is your brother?" _________ Koschei glanced back as he finally reached a registration table, and frowned, not seeing his friend behind him.
"Nathan? Where've you gone?"

Tyler glanced at Rodaj, smiling. "Oh.....my dad's going to register me...he might have already. I don't really know. Anyway, my brother's name is Nathan, and I think he went somewhere into the Citadel, but I'm not sure. It doesn't really matter -- I'm sure I'll find him later....did you want to walk to the library or something? I've been there with my dad before, but it's a been a while."
He and Nathan had learned out to read -- their father had taught them how. Having caught on fairly fast, Tyler wanted to see all of the books once again. He glanced at Rodaj, wondering if he liked to read -- or if he even knew how to read. _______ Nathan continued to make his way to where he thought the registration tables were. Finally seeing a glimpse of Koschei, he reached the table. "Oh, sorry....guess I got a little distracted," he explained to Koschei.

Rodaj's eyes brightened at the mention of the library, and he smiled. His parents happened to have a rather nice library of their own where Rodaj would spend hours reading up on various subjects, especially those of a historical nature. He'd always wondered what it would be like to go into the library here, as he'd heard that it had more volumes than he'd probably ever seen in his eight years. "Oh, I'd love to!" He giggled happily. "You enjoy reading, too?" ______ Koschei smiled at the sight of Nathan and shook his head. "I just didn't see where you'd gone." He looked back at the table and rapped on it with his knuckles to get the person's attention. "Excuse me.."

The woman was still trying to talk to Kyra, so she was unavailable to register Koschei. However, another man was there. Looking down at the child, the registration person glared at him. For him, children were just a bother -- objects that would be best left alone. However, he was getting paid for this.
Staring at the two children, he asked both of them, "Are you here to register?"
Nathan responded, "He is...I'm not..my dad already registered with me."
The man grumbled at Nathan, "Fine....I'll need you to step away then....you can talk to your friend later."
Nathan sighed, not wanting to upset the adult. He turned to Koschei and said, "I guess I'll just go wait over there..."
He pointed in the direction of a bench. His legs were hurting him, and no one seemed to be sitting there -- which seemed like a happy coincidence, given the number of people that were in the Citadel that day.
_______ Tyler's face lit up when his new friend had asked him if he liked to read. "Very much so," he responded. "I'm glad that you like to read, too....come on, then."
He started to walk in the direction of the library, expecting the other boy to follow.

Koschei frowned slightly, disappointed, and nodded before turning back to the man at registration. "I'm here to register." He said, answering the man's question. He pulled out his registration papers and passed them across to the man, eager to get done with this part of the process.
