(Sorry, had to go shopping (an activity that I personally loathe:P)
The Doctor had sat quietly and listened to Kyra's description of her unease. He frowned. "It almost sounds like you're experiencing a temporal spur, but I can't see why it would occur here. Unless you -had- been time traveling before and also exist in this time?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "I've done that more than once on Earth, the feeling that you-are-here-but-then-again-you're-not. It can be unsettling but if it's not then perhaps....." He fell silent again and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "What with all the going ons about, missing people and now this. If I didn't know better I'd say someone was trying to play tricks with the Matrix."
He brightened at the mention of a trip, there was nothing he liked better than to show off his TARDIS. "20th century London? Of course! The trip could do you good, my dear."
He smiled again and looked off into the distance when they sat closer together. On one hand he was glad his brother had found such happiness but then he still felt a twinge of envy. The only times he had felt that close to someone they ended up being lost to him. He wished Grace had come along but her career was more important at the time. Did she ever regret her choice? He would never know.

Tyler looked up, surprised by the Doctor's outburst. He'd almost forgotten that his brother was in the same room as Kyra and him.
Blushing slightly, he told Eight, "Well.....I don't know.....that would be up to Kyra. I....I have a TARDIS that I use for work.....but if Kyra wants, we could travel in yours...and you can come along. But I was thinking that Kyra might just want it to be just me and her.....either way...I'm open...."
He watched the way that Eight looked off into the distance. Frowning, he remembered that his brother's wife had died during his first body, and that he had never remarried -- or fallen in love with anyone -- at least that Tyler was aware.

"Oh, certainly! Of course! How silly of me." the Doctor was flustered for a moment then collected himself. "I do recommend this small resturant on the Thames. Small and hardly noticable but excellent fare."
"But to get back to this 'feeling' of yours, Kyra. Has it manivested in any other way? A small vision, perhaps? Or bad dreams?"

Tyler pulled back from his wife so that she would be able to answer the Doctor, and not be distracted while in the process.
He searched Kyra's face, awaiting an answer. Since she had never spoken of any of this to him, he was curious about the answer. While he and Kyra had decided on a plan to put her at ease, they still needed to get to the bottom of whatever it was that was bothering her....if there was really something that was going to happen to her or anyone else.

Kyra sighed. "I've had bad dreams that I don't remember, but that's about it. It would be nice if you could come along, but... I feel it would be much better if it was just me and Tyler."

(could use you in the kids camp thread ) Tyler asked Kyra, "Right...so did you want one or both of us to try to get into your mind and see if we can access those bad dreams?" He looked at Kyra and then his brother. "I think that my brother has had more experience with that, but I don't know......neither of us are that good with telepathy, so we'd have to touch your head..."

"I... I think if he has more experience," Kyra said, then looked to the Doctor. "Would you? I don't know that I could really feel very comfortable about leaving if we didn't know for sure what this was."

"I may be a bit rusty, not having to do this in a while but if you're willing for me to try I'll give it a go." Telepathy wasn't one of the Doctor's favorite activities, as accessing another's mind meant opening up one's own. Transfer of knowledge was always a two-way street but there were times where it was a useful tool. He got up and sat on the otherside of Kyra. He gently put his hands on either side of her face and lifted slightly. He didn't bother telling her to relax and allow him access as this was one of the first things a Time Lord/Lady learned at the Acadamy.
He closed his eyes and gently made a path through to her mind. The connection made him feel almost as if he was pushing through a wall of flower petals. Mentally he smiled. This was a big difference from other minds he had tried to make contact with. The more the resistance, the sharper and harder the walls were. Even humans had the mental capacity to damage him if they fought long enough.
Light colors and sounds surrounded him as he sought for the one memory. Fleeting glimpses of past events of Kyra's sped past, most of them with his brother and he quickly turned a blind eye to all that. One however, did catch his attention and he paused for a quick look. It seemed to be Kyra at a much earlier age and she was conversing with......an older Time Lord. It didn't look like a professor or a member of the council but he did look familiar. He was bending over, Kyra must have been very young then, and handing her something that his hand covered. Before Eight could decipher what the object was a large dark area appeared before him.
It was swirling and twisting, folding in on itself like a boiling storm. Eight frowned as he tried to get closer, to see what Kyra was dealing with but it threw him back almost effortlessly. Surprised, he reached out again but the defenses were too strong. He tried circling around, but the darkness circled with him. What -was- this thing?
Outside, Eight's body tensed as he focused on just one strong lunge. His breathing quickened and then he snatched his hands from Kyra's face as if he had been burned. A few minutes' panting and he regained control of himself.
"Well, that was...very interesting." he finally managed to say. "Kyra, there is...something....in your mind, your memories, that seemed to have been planted there, many years ago. It resisted me at every turn but I did manage to grasp a few glimpses of it. Not enough to know exactly what it is but...I felt this immense hatred of me. Me and all the Time Lords. In fact it detests all of Gallifrey! I felt that if it could destroy me when I was near it would have relished the opportunity. But it's not strong enough. It's waiting. Waiting for something, or someone."
The last words were spoken very gravely and Eight didn't want to reveal the last thing he had garnered from the black storm before he was thrown out. It was planning something very very big indeed, something the Doctor had never even experienced before in all of his lives.
And the Doctor was scared.

When the Eighth Doctor jerked back, Kyra looked at him, concerned. She listened to him as he explained what he found. She was scared too. "What should we do? If it's that bad, then leaving wouldn't do anything, would it? But... If it's planning something, maybe I shouldn't trust my instincts. It might not be in my self-interest, but... I don't know what to do now..." She knew the Doctor wasn't easily frightened, from childhood experience, and she figured that after all the exploring he had been doing, he may have hardened even more. So to see him scared filled her with fear and doubt and concern.

The Doctor couldn't think of any way to reassure her but he still needed more knowledge to go on. "Tell me, Kyra, have you ever felt...driven...to something that was totally uncharacteristic of you? Even if it's something rather simple and silly such as...ah...eating Trazialia Pudding Cake when before you couldn't stand the stuff?"

Tyler watched the whole situation with complete concern for both his wife and for Gallifrey. "Someone planted something in her? -- what when she looked into the untempered schism?"
A shiver went up Tyler's spine as his dislike for certain Time Lords grew even greater. "I hope it wasn't Emmehujidat -- how the man is still alive, I don't know. It's hard to imagine that someone hasn't murdered him yet. Oh, and yes, I would get into trouble for saying that normally...but we're on a TARDIS, so I don't care."

"If someone planted something, then why would I not remember?" Kyra asked. She was terrified at this point. All her calm was gone. "If it's plotting against Gallifrey, maybe we really should get away as soon as we can."

"Believe me, implanting something isn't as difficult as it sounds. If this was done when you were very young it would have all this time to grow along with your brain synopsis and wouldn't be detected from any normal means. Then it could have been wakened into action by the schism. You could have even been sub-conciously driven to do that so it would be activated. This, however, requires years of planning, even centuries!"
The Doctor leaned back into the velvet cushion with a very worried expression on his face. "The other trouble is..what if you're not the only one with this implant? Are there others? If so, who? What would be the impact of all these implants? The hatred I felt from that whatever-it-was was immense, as if it's sole purpose to come into being was to destroy Time Lords. I..." He sat back up and waved his hands in a circle. "I can't even begin to describe the hatred and contempt I got from it. It was just so over-whelming!"

"I know I didn't want to tell anyone about it until now. What if that is it?" Kyra asked, then looked to Tyler. Just moments ago she was happy, having a plan to try to get rid of this, and now there was no escaping it.

"Perhaps," the Doctor began, rubbing his chin. "If Tyler and I both try to meld into your mind we could confuse it long enough for one of us to reach into it to learn more about it. I was trying but it blocked me at every turn." he then turned to Tyler. "I wonder if Emmehujidat had the power to do such a thing. Yes, he may have access to the Matrix now but did he back then, if it were him? And if it wasn't, then who? We need to find out more."
