David glanced at the woman and grinned. "I do...but....but it's not going to be very helpful. It's one of the broken watches that I own. It's old...been in my family for years, so I guess it wouldn't be expected to work. Still, it was passed down to me, so I keep it. Besides, I like pocket watches...even if they don't work. They're coming back into style...maybe I'll buy a working one sometime."
"So...you like pocket watches?" David asked her. "Now...I could probably handle having one....I wouldn't have to worry about it getting in the way, since it would fit in my pocket."
He then heard her question and answered promptly. "Yes....I would like some tea....maybe banana flavored. I've never seemed to find tea that flavor...but I always ask."

Romana glanced back at the man that was currently some sort of companion to her. "Oh, I see. Hm... Would you mind fetching it so I can see? I do actually quite like pocket watches. I used to collect them." She said, although it was somewhat false. She didn't collect them, although she did enjoy looking at them, and it was something that she found amusing.
"They were quite useful and depending on the make, it could have been quite the show of wealth in the 1800s." Romana stated with a small smile.
The tea, well Banana flavored tea... That made her curious. "...Banana tea? I've never heard of that." The waitress had responded back in French and Romana in response covered her mouth to stop from laughing. "Well, until I met my friend, the one with the machine, I hadn't known how to take tea." She admitted. "I've become quite fond of lady gray tea with a bit of milk in it."

David nodded, "Sure...I actually have it with me right now...but....but it really won't help you much. It's stuck and broken...all you could really do is look at the outside of it."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out, what was to him, just plain looking silver watch. From his perspective, there was not a design on it, nor alien writing that looked like circles. After he pulled it out, he offered it to her.
"Although it's been in my family for years, if you collect them.....you could keep it. I don't have any use for it, really, since it won't open."
Ten glanced at Romana suspiciously. "Really? You didn't know how to take tea? That's odd. My mother used to fix it for me all the time. It's strange how we can be from the same small villiage, and yet have different experiences."
He glanced at the female and then shrugged. "Well, I'll take any flavor of tea..." Looking slightly disappointed that they didn't have banana flavored tea, he would settle for any flavor. He liked it all.

Romana gave a small nod as she listened to David speak. "That would be quite pleasant actually. I'm curious about it." She stated simply. She watched him and then held her hand out when the watch was held out in an offering.
Taking the metal device examined it, the design was clear as day to her. She knew exactly what the watch was. "Oh, it's quite rare. Only two in existence, unless someone made replicas... This FOB watch is extremely special." She state and then ran over the circling design on the shell of the watch.
Noticing the suspicious glances that David was giving her made her feel oddly uneasy. "Yes really. I didn't know how to take my tea. Be it with milk, sugar, without. I didn't know how to make it either. My mother never once made me tea, nor did my father drink it." She stated calmly and then let her eyes meet the other's.
The waitress nodded once and ran off to get the two cups of tea. When she returned Romana thanked her and smiled before settling back down to discuss things with David. She knew exactly what the watch was.
"Have you ever actually attempted to open the watch?" She asked curiously.

David glanced at Romana suspiciously once more. "It's just an old watch," he told her. "How is it a rare one?"
"It...the watch....it's stuck...always been like that. I must have tried to open it when I was little -- when it was first given to me. It must be rusted, or something got into the hinge....I don't want to break it....but it's already broken...but still..."
"Oh...well...I love tea...can't imagine not growing up with it...." David nodded toward the tea cup. "But...well...." he stopped to take a sip of the tea. "I'm glad you know how to drink it now."

Romana shook her head once and then glanced back to him. "Trust me. It is extremely rare. As I said, there are only two in existence. It looks fine to me. Just try opening it. Please? Do it for me?" Romana asked and pouted. "I'm certain it won't break, and they're fairly easy to repair. I'm certain all it needs is a new battery and a bit of a polish." She stated and then listened to him speak about tea.
Taking her cup of tea she sipped on it before setting it down again. "It's quite a lovely drink, tea. Although, as I said. That watch of yours is very special."

David frowned at Romana. "What's so important about me opening it...it's almost like...like....it's extremely important to you that I open it. Is it the inside....something special like a pretty watch design...or the mechanisms of the clock? I....I suppose I could open it.....if you really wanted me to...I can try...but it hasn't been open in a very long time."
After looking at her for several minutes, he finally said, "Oh, all right...I'll try...but..but you have the watch."
He nodded to the watch.

Romana noticed the frown, but it didn't deter her from her cause. She knew exactly what it was. "Ah, it's important, because I have to make certain it isn't a fake. As I said, if this is real, there are only two in existence. I want to see if this is a real one or not. I'd suspect even one of the originals to be in a dead battery without the proper care." She responded.
Watching the male across from her for a while, she had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling. "Oh, right. Sorry about that." She stated simply.
Without a second thought, she held the watch out to it's owner.

"Battery? I'm not really sure that they had batteries back then....it's been in my family for years...." David answered her.
He watched her suspiciously, "Oh...well...I suppose there is only one way to satisfy you...." He picked up the watch and attempted to open it. As he did so, a strange glow came from the watch, surrounding David and going into him.
He hadn't been quite prepared for this at all, and when the light finished leaving the watch and entering him, he looked back at her, a new look on his face.

It had been exactly as she'd expected, the Chameleon Arch FOB watch had opened and the very essence of a Time Lord had flowed back into the man who had called himself David.
Wondering just who exactly it was she folded her arms and stared back at the other. "Welcome back to the world of the Time Travellers. Now, who are you? Which Time Lord that is?" She asked as she leant forward, keen on finding out without letting anyone overhear them.
The first thought was some other incarnation of the Doctor, but that would mean she'd crossed timelines, and then the second thought was that if it wasn't the Doctor's future self, then it was someone undesirable. With that thought she locked her eyes on the other's figure, growing cautious.

Ten stared at Romana, a frown forming on his face. If Romana was here, where was his Fourth self? She'd said that he was working on something. "Has to be the TARDIS," he thought to himself.
"I...well....actually....it really isn't a good idea for me to tell you..right now...." Ten tried to explain. "It...just...."
It had been such a long time since he had been in the presence of another of his kind. She didn't know of the war, nor should she. A deep look of sadness crossed Ten's face as he remembered Gallifrey and all that was lost because of it. This was the Romana that his Fourth self had known. She was traveling with the Fourth Doctor -- she had to be.
"I shouldn't be here," Ten finally said. "But then...well, where is your friend?"

Noticing the other Gallifreyan's frown Romana lowered her gaze away from him and thought. The mention of it not being a good idea to tell her who she was made her worry.
"Well... At least reassure me that you're not one of the renegades that will only cause horror to befall Earth. I'd never forgive myself if you were." Romana replied although another thought went through her mind.
Noticing the sadness that etched it's way into the Time Lord's face, she wanted to reassure him of something, but didn't know what she could do. "I'm Romanadvoratrelundar. What shall I call you as I assume that David is not a proper name of yours." She inquired.
"Where is...? Oh. He's... working on something. I left him be with his TARDIS." She stated calmly. "If you shouldn't be here, then either something is wrong and you're the Doctor, or you're someone that would be in trouble should he know your existence on this planet." She mused.

Ten looked back at Romana and shook his head. "I....I hope not....but people always seem to get hurt when I'm around. Even whole planets. And I am a renegade Time Lord, or was...."
"I....well....you can call me David still. It isn't my name...but it would be better if you called me that." He glanced at her, hoping that she wouldn't question further.
However, all hopes of this were gone when she stated the last part. "Well.....probably both.....actually....I'm the Doctor..."
He glanced at her once more. "I'm sorry..." he got up in an attempt to leave.
(have to go...have a client coming)

Romana stared back at the other male for a moment, and then thought. "Was...?" She asked but pushed it aside. "Don't be ridiculous, you should know that it's part of a Time Lord's job not to interfere with the natural order of things. How is it that you'd do anything idiotic like that?" She took a deep breath and then listened.
To be told that she could still call him David, was something that was a tad unsettling, especially when told that he was indeed the Doctor. Something about that though unsettling was also reassuring at the same time.
"...If you're the Doctor... Then what is my name? And I don't mean Romana. I mean my full name." She stated calmly as she stood up, wanting to know exactly what made the cheerful, bizarre man turn into this one. It was obvious due to how much younger the body was that this was a later regeneration not an earlier one.

Ten lifted his eyes to look directly into Romana's. "Your name is Romanadvoratrelundar-- and I'm not going to repeat that again. And I wasn't exactly talking about Earth....but...but....if an alien race attacks Earth, how can it not be defended? Earth's history would change...and not only that...but the people--the humans...and the same is true for other planets. No, and not doing anything....that makes the Time Lords complacent -- and...and....if Gallifrey is attacked, would you expect anyone to defend it?"
Ten looked away from her for a moment. Perhaps if Gallifrey had interacted with other planets more, maybe, just maybe Romana and the other Time Lords would be alive right then. Maybe other planets would have come to Gallifrey's aid. Maybe the Daleks could have been stopped.
However, he couldn't tell her about the Time War -- couldn't warn her about it. The Time War would happen -- it had to, and nothing he would ever say could change that. It was a fixed point in Gallifrey's history now.
Ten could tell that Romana had been made slightly unnerved. In all honesty, so was he. This hadn't been intended to happen. It was then that he thought back to the reason he had chameleon arched himself. Hadn't he been trying to hide from an alien race? It wasn't exactly the same group as the Family of Blood, but it was a group that had been just as deadly. And now his Fourth self and Romana and him now were all there....vulnerable.
