Turusia was a very pretty planet, almost every bit of land was covered with tropical forests and great trees. The oceans were very wide and blue, and the small land masses at each pole were very small and coated with just a little bit of ice. It was a reptilian's paradise!
The Tylythyns who lived there thought so. The short gecko-like creatures had built their great cities in the branches of the huge trees and connected them with long rope bridges several hundred feet above the jungle floor. It wasn't a good place for someone who didn't like heights but since the Tylythyns were great climbers almost from hatching they had never known that fear.
Clever and friendly, Tylythyns prided themselves not only by their cities but also for their love of building designs and engineering knowledge. Some of their structures and even their space-going vessels seemed designed simply for decorative purposes, with their vine-like supports and textured surfaces. One might be excused for mistaking a spaceship for a giant seed pod floating in orbit.
But all of this knowledge came from many years of study at the acadamies and universities. All Tylythys were expected to attend one and the majority passed with flying colors to continue their peoples' work.
And then there were some like...Ostyostyryx.
Osty for short, she was a young Tylythyn that didn't seem to be able to fit in anywhere. Not for lack of trying, perhaps because of trying too much. Being a bit accident-prone didn't help either. This afternoon she had almost destroyed the welding class because of mistaking one gas canister for another. The instructor had gently suggested that perhaps a walk through the forest floor might clear her mind and help her think better.
This did not put Osty in a very good mood. She knew her mistake and was very embarrassed about it but why did such things always seem to happen to her???
"Not fair it is!" she shouted to no-one in paticular. "Try hard do I!! Not my fault stuff always happens! Hmph." She looked down and kicked a fallen stub of a branch. "Not fair," she sniffled.

It had been a little while since The Doctor had saved Gallifrey from The Master, and he was travelling alone, since Sarah Jane had been forced to leave him after he had saved Kastria from a tyrant bent on ruling the planet. Truthfully, he was looking for some downtime. Not much, mind. A day or two, perhaps - nothing more.
"Just you and me now, old girl." he mumbles, dragging his hand fondly across the console. "Shall we go on a little trip? Just you and me? Yes, yes.." His voice gets louder and louder with every syllable, a massive grin creeping onto his face. He paces around the console, deep in thought. "Somewhere with a nice beach, perhaps? Maybe Rusiah? No, no, a little too relaxed, I should think. It's full of ruffians at this time of year, too. Well, I say this time..."
He continues to pace, before he stops, raising his finger in the air, immediately approaching the console to press various buttons, to flick switches. "Turusia! Tropical climate, trees, wonderful spaceships, full of greenery, intelligent folk, too. Yes, yes, I think that Turusia is the one!" he exclaims, flicking a switch, perhaps, a little too enthusiastically.
Soon enough, and with fewer complications than usual, the TARDIS materialises on the forest floor, humming as it does so, siren flashing before it's finally landed. And it happens to do so a few metres away from a certain upset Tylythyn - Ostyostyryx.
The Doctor, completely unaware of the fact that there's a depressed Tylythyn practically on his doorstep, gleefully grabs his floppy hat from the hat-rack, sliding it onto his head on top of his curly hair."Never know with these tropical environments, do you? Could rain any minute. Best to take a hat, isn't it?" he murmurs, patting the side of the TARDIS. "You enjoy the scenery, yes? I'll be back in a little bit." And with that, he slides out of the door with glee and grace, closing it behind him as he steps out into a Turisian forest.
"Ah, wonderful!" he chuckles, reaching into his pocket, pulling out the TARDIS key, and locking the door, before stepping out onto the forest floor, scarf trailing behind him. "Was hoping that we'd land a little closer to civilization, but still, nothing wrong with a little walk, is there?" he states, asking nobody in particular, surveying the area around him.

Osty picked up the branch she had kicked and flung it to one side. It almost hit a large fat flightless bird with floofy gray feathers (locally known as a mekmek) and it scuttled off with an indignant squawk. Osty glared after it.
"Oh, shut up you! The troubles I have you don't!!! Stupid fat thing you are. Hope eaten by a graffler you get."
Osty stomped a bit further down the path when her eyes caught something that wasn't part of the great green Turusian forest. She froze in her tracks and stared. "Huh?? Is that what? "
She stepped up to the TARDIS very cautiously, licking her eyes in a nervous fashion. She had never seen anything even remotely resembling this large box-like object before. She walked around it, studying its every detail, then gingerly reached out and touched it. It felt almost alive, thrumming with energy. Osty walked around it once more then did the most natural thing a Tylythyn would do, she climbed it. First on top, then all the way around, her finger and toe pads clinging to the ship effortlessly, but she was no closer to finding out just what this mysterious object was.
"Hmmm, very strange thing, this is." she muttered to herself. "Feels funny too. Where it come from, I wonder. And inside what is?"
She tapped on what seemed to be a window, then tries to peer inside. When she couldn't make anything out she gently tapped on it. "Hello? Anybody inside, is there? Hellooo!"

The Doctor stopped in his tracks at the sound of fingers tapping against glass. And since there's no glass in a forest, or at least, not in this forest, someone must be tapping on the one of the TARDISe's windows.
He hadn't even walked two metres out of the TARDIS, and already, there was trouble. Or at least, what sounded like it. The Doctor smiled, though. If he'd truly wanted to relax, there was a perfectly good armchair to lounge in inside of the TARDIS. No, no. A 'little trip' was just another excuse for adventure.
So he spun on his heel, and started to walk back, noticing a .. Tylythyn on top of it, yes, a Tylythyn. A curious Tylythyn, tapping on the window, asking if anyone was inside. Well, there wasn't. He was already out here, after all.
"There's nobody in there, you know." he exclaims suddenly, pressing himself against the TARDIS door, stomach-first, eyes looking up at the curious Tylythyn, massive smile on his face. "Everybody is out here. Or, at least, I am, anyway."

(Oops! I forgot he was that close!)
Osty nearly fell from her perch on top of the mysterious blue box when she came face to face with the other creature. "Aapp!" she squeaked loudly then scrambled up on top around the blue light. Curiosity overcame her fear and she slowly leaned over and peered down. Not having ever seen a humanoid before she wasn't sure what to make of the sight.
"D-dangerous..you are not?" she queried softly. "Hurt me, you won't?" She licked her eyes one after the other nervously.

(No worries! We'll blame it on undergrowth and that.)
The Doctor shakes his head, smiling, watching with quiet amusement at your initial fright. "Dangerous? Hardly." he murmurs.
"I'm The Doctor. And that's not a very dangerous name at all, is it?" he states, reassuredly, backing away from the TARDIS by an inch or two, still smiling.

"Hmm, Dok-tor." Osty ran her tongue around her lips as if tasting the unfamiliar word. "Ostyostyryx my name is. This blue thing belongs to you it does? It is what? Never seen anything like it have I!"
She gathered enough of her courage to lightly leap down. Next to the Doctor she was quite short and she had to crane her neck to look up at his face. "You are what? Not Tylythyn, not graffler. Off-worlder maybe?"

"Ostyostyryx. Quite the mouthful, but then again, Tylythyn names often are... he mumbles, to himself, mostly. He strokes the side of the TARDIS with affection, turning to it.
"It's the TARDIS. More than a machine. Can take me anywhere in time and space. How do you think I got here?" he mutters, with respect and seriousness, before turning back to you.
"As for what I am, I'm a Time Lord. Much less regal than it sounds, really."

Osty cocked her head to one side. "TARDIS. Space vessel it is then? Funny shape it is." Realizing she could have insulted the visitor she added quickly "But pretty it is. Like blue, I do!" She reached out and patted the side, then the pupils in her eyes grew wide as she had a sudden new thought. "Take me for a ride could Doctor? Never been in space yet, have I. Yet reached the status I have not." The last part was spoken sadly as Osty remembered her numerous applications that were rejected time and time again. Only Tylythyns who had gained a certain level of status could go on space ships and venture out. Osty had heard the tales of their exploits and yearned to do the same herself. She didn't want the safe secure but rather dull life some Tylythyns had, remaining on their planet and working at constructing new buildings and such. "Little trip just one?" she asked again softly, longing clear in her voice. (Tsk tsk, going on a spaceship with a total stranger! Kids, don't try this at home )

The Doctor tapped his chin in thought, considering. A trip? It wouldn't be so bad, really. And the girl was rather inquisitive, curious, bold. Didn't seem to be afraid of danger, or, well, overly afraid. After all, she's only known him for five minutes, and she's already asking for a voyage in the TARDIS! And he'd never travelled with a Tylythyn before. "Well. One trip won't hurt." he states, cheerfully, before reaching into his pocket and pulling out the TARDIS key.
He unlocks the door and pushes it open. "Can be dangerous, though. You'll have to keep on your toes!" he exclaims, cheerfully, before pushing the door open and stepping inside with excitement, long scarf trailing behind him. "Come along, then."
(If anyone wants to join in, this'd be the best point to do it! I'll take Osty to wherever your character happens to be.)

Osty crept in, if her eyes weren't fixed they would have grown huge as they took in the sight of the control room. As they were, the pupils did increase as she gazed about in amazement.
"So big inside it is!" she exclaimed. "But small outside it looks! Amazing engineers your people must be!" She ran a finger along the white wall, admiring the smooth coolness then gazed at the console. "Very compact it is too. Running from one station to another you don't have to. Perhaps learn some of this I could?"
