Alec was walking in when he bumped into it. A blue, clear wall of energy. It quickly surrounded him. Then Flynn started yelling at him. He count hear very well, but he could make out such words as "Genocide" and "Not good enough." No, he thought, Not with Susan here. Any other time, just not...
The Timelord banged on the force field, creating a thumping sound but otherwise not making a difference. He flipped out his Sonic, bit he still couldn't put a dent in the field. He couldn't hear what Susan was saying, but he tried his best at lip reading. "Susan, I'm... I'm so sorry."
"Shut up."
Alec brought his hat over his eyes, in case he shed tears. He could never let anyone see him when he's down. Never when he's broken. He could see her, still talking.
"How could you do that?" he thought he saw her say.
"I-I, I just, I m-mean..." he stuttered.
“Why are you bringing him into this? He doesn’t matter to me,” he again thought he saw her say.
He slumped dejected in the prison, tears beginning to form in his eyes. "Susan, I'm sorry, I am. But...I've changed, I'm not like like that any more."
"What are you talking about? What are you talking about, Alec?" Susan asked in disbelief.
Alec sat and pulled his hat over his face, to hide the single tear that did come. One tear of hopelessness. A Timelord's hopelessness.

The Seventh Doctor bent over his console, lost in thought (like in Banner) . He looks up at his older self. "I think you know what I have to do; Get out. Now."
He ushers his Ninth Incarnation out of his TARDIS closes the doors and Dematerializes...

Ace stepped back as the Doctor pushed his older self out, if not to keep from getting run over the other Doctor pushing “himself” out so fast. She started to step towards the TARDIS to stop him from taking off only to have the door shut in her face and to watch as the TARDIS dematerializes.
Softly trying to hide her urge to cry out for him to stop “No..wait.” she reached out where the TARDIS once was but closed her hand making a fist and then gently rapping her knuckles on her forehead “Nothing ever changes.” Sighing she went back over to her bike, taking off the time hopper for a second looking it over seeing if she could somehow stretch out the distance it could go.

"I think you know what I have to do; Get out. Now."
"Yeah, yeah I do." He allowed his younger self to drive him from the younger TARDIS. "I know how it turns out but... good luck anyway."
With a roaring and a flashing of lights, the younger TARDIS vanished.
The Doctor turned. "Well, time to get the spy rays set up."
Halfway back to his TARDIS he stopped. He turned, and watched Ace as she dejectedly fiddled with her bike. He warred with himself for a moment, but there was never any doubt.
"Ace? I really haven't abandoned you." He spread his arms, and grinned. "Check it out. I'm right here."
He waited, then jerked his head towards the TARDIS. "C'mon. I could use a hand."

In the Console room of Flynn's TARDIS a familiar sound rings out and slowly a blue 1960's Police Box forms...

Well, this wasn’t working out at all. Susan looked between Flynn and Alec, distressed. When Flynn left to go get tea, she turned her attention back to Alec. He was obviously upset, but she couldn’t understand why. She’d been doing her best to defend the man, and yet he was acting as though her words were killing him. Susan directed her stare away from him when he began to cry, feeling as though she was seeing something she wasn’t supposed to. A surge of anger rose to her chest, and she wanted to bash Flynn’s head in with his damnable teacups.
What kind of self-respecting man served tea, anyway?
She sat down beside the forcefield, tapping on it in an attempt to get Alec’s attention. Susan put her hands flat against it, forcing a smile to her face. There was no way she could smile genuinely; his heartbreak was contagious. “Alec,” she mouthed carefully. “I lo—”
Anything that she was going to say was promptly dropped once she heard the sound of the TARDIS. She stood up quickly, nearly buzzing around the door until it materialized enough for her to beat a fist against it. “Doctor!” she shouted.

The Door to The Doctor's TARDIS opens and his head pops out "Yes?" He glances over to Alec "Looks like you're in a spot of trouble there, would you like some help? Wait that barrier is sound proof isn't it? Hang on." He aims his Sonic Screwdriver at the force field. "Alright, I can't take it down permanently, but i can get it down for about 9 seconds when I say now I want you to run to through over, got it okay, I'm going to count down from 3 when I say one, run! Okay 3...2...1!" The force field deactivates.

Ace reattached the time hopper back on the bike “I know...it’s just..” she shook her head quickly and sighed “Never mind it’s nothing.” when he asked her to help him in the TARDIS she smiled “ya sounds like a plan.” she motioned for him to lead the way before following.

Alec's tears were dried up. He was on his feet when the force field opened. The first instinct he had was to bolt out the Tardis door, which he did instantly. Running and running. He felt like all he could do was run and run. He didn't care where he was going, but he somehow managed to make it to his Tardis.
The Timelord jumped inside and didn't stop running until he reached the console. Flipping switches, he got his Tardis away from that horrible city, running, running, running. He would never stop running.

Ace reattached the time hopper back on the bike “I know...it’s just..” she shook her head quickly and sighed “Never mind it’s nothing.”
"It's hardly nothing, Ace," the Doctor rejoined. He looked at the copy of his TARDIS and managed to smile and frown simultaneously. "That was just a difficult age for me - juggling too many irons, balancing too many schemes." He stared, then smiled and jerked his head towards the TARDIS again. "But c'mon. I've wallowed in too much self-pity for one day, and I'm in there right now trying to do something about it."
Ace smiled, and the smile brought back memories of the adventurous young woman he'd first met. “ya sounds like a plan," she said.
He grinned back, a broad, toothy grin. "Now," he warned, unlocking the doors, "She's redecorated a little since you were traveling with me. But she's the same old girl she's always been."
His boots *clacked* on the gantry as he swept towards the console, arms thrown wide. "What do you think, Ace? Bit more posh?" His fingers danced along the controls, making adjustments. "There. Spy ray's set. We'll be able to follow that TARDIS anywhere, as long as the pilot doesn't notice, and we'll automatically be able to track anyone that leaves through the door as well."
He looked back at her, leaning one hand on the console. "And with that in mind, if you aren't doing anything, what say we take her for a spin? One quick trip, just for old times sakes? Then we'll pop right back here microseconds after we've left, and nobody'll be the wiser."

Ace followed the Doctor into the TARDIS listening to him as he spoke she stopped halfway up the ramp looking around “Oh....wow, this is...nice. I mean really nice, I liked it the old way but this is nice” she took off her jacket, hanging it over the railing. She did really like it though running a hand along one of the columns “That’s a girl.” she smiled looking up letting the pasts memories play out in her head.
Ace walked over to where he stood leaning back onto the console across from him. Every part of her was screaming at her to say yes when he asked her to go on a trip with him but she wasn’t a child anymore and past events made her wonder what he was up too “What’s your game Professor?” she shrugged looking at him “What are you playing at? she wasn’t trying to sound mean just something smelled a little on the hinky side to her “I m mean you knew how this was gonna play out you’ve already seen it all once...why come back?”

“What’s your game Professor?” she shrugged looking at him “What are you playing at? she wasn’t trying to sound mean just something smelled a little on the hinky side to her .
"My game?" he tried to sound offended, although his toothy grin ruined the effect.
"I m mean you knew how this was gonna play out you’ve already seen it all once...why come back?”
He fiddled with the controls - not really doing anything, just an excuse to move his hands. "It's... complicated," he said. Then he shrugged. "I know how it comes out because, when I was a younger man, pointing a gun at my granddaughter in celebration of our first reunion in 300 years..." A quick grin. "Some insufferable jerk came storming out of a TARDIS, shouted a lot, got shot twenty or thirty times, and reminded me that maybe, just maybe, I was a better man than I was acting."
He shrugged, then winced. "Ow. Do me a favor, Ace. Remind me that I should wear a force field, not just kevlar-9, when I come back 'round here." He shook his head. "But anyway. Here I am, older, and I just happened to be thinking about Susan. And it occurred to me that I should stop by and try to locate her. So I step out of the TARDIS, and end up doing a lot of shouting, and get shot twenty or thirty times - incidentally, if you ever find yourself in a plan that involves getting shot, rethink the plan -, and bollix up my personal life the way I usually do, and help preserve causality."
He looked serious. "That's it. No deep plans this time, Ace. No centuries long schemes. Just a cranky old man, flailing around in a desperate attempt to reconcile with the only living blood relation he has left in the universe."

"It's... complicated," Ace sighed and rubbed her temple with her middle and her index finger grinning at the Doctor, jokingly she said “Nothing’s ever simple with you is it?” she stood there listening to him for a second while he fiddled with the controls.
“incidentally, if you ever find yourself in a plan that involves getting shot, rethink the plan” For some reason that hit her just right and she started laughing and pointed to the spots where the bullets that where fired at her had hit their mark “No kidding, but if you are gonna get shot at come prepared huh? she had learned that from him though she would never admit it. Always be prepared and sometimes it’s ok to run away just so you could come back stronger and fight another day.
When his tone hit more serious she looked at him sideways for a second, her eyes making almost slights as she looked at him trying to figure out if he was telling the truth or not. Did it matter to her no, no not really, glancing at the door of the TARDIS and then back at the Doctor “...ok Professor I’m in.” she held up a finger grinning slightly like a kid at christmas but one trying to hide it “But just one.”

It wasn’t the nice version of the Doctor. The one had that had tried to explain everything to her in a calm tone, the one that had been there to attempt to comfort her in the dark. It was the one that held a gun to her head and essentially disowned her. “Looks like you’re in a pot of trouble there, would you like some help?” he asked. Susan looked up at him hopefully. Maybe this man – her grandfather – would help Alec out of the forcefield, and not simply back off when Alec admitted he needed help. “Alright, I can’t take it down permanently, but I can get it down for about nine seconds when I say now I want you to run through.”
She edged closer in anticipation, but, and she kicked herself for not anticipating this, Alec ran away from her. Susan made a little squeak of disapproval, unable to properly form the right words. She ran out of the TARDIS as well – and by the grace of whatever deity was looking out for her at that moment, she managed not to get ensnared by the force field. “Wait!” she hissed. By the time she’d navigated her way out of the alley, Alec’s TARDIS was gone. She sat down on the bench, hugging her knees to her chest.
Susan pulled the vortex manipulator out of her pocket, attaching it to her wrist.
